I was super on the Mao Mao hype train from the first time I saw it but it has been getting more and more hit and miss
Badgerclops sucks and has always sucked outside of like the first 2 episodes. He's just a fat loser that doesn't do anything, he's barely a buddycop best foil to mao mao like he was in the pilot.

I'd agree that a lot of the episodes are hit or miss, though even the worse ones tend to have a redeeming moment or two. I tend to enjoy the episodes that have more lore and backstory rather than the ones that are just a self-contained moral lesson + monster of the week. But you always need to remember, this show is made for children.

yeah it doesn't use the 3/4 angle as much as the big hitters on Cartoon Network did (Regular Show, Adventure Time, Clarence). I think it has to be more dynamic by virtue of it being an action cartoon. Also that they use tweening for the most part means that it isn't such a chore to animate from an unusual angle, since some of the movement is interpolated

You can have b-plots in 11 minute shows, EEnE did it sometimes. And B plots can be good like in EEnE(11 minutes) and Fosters (22 minutes). The runtime of an episode really only means how long they regularly have to stretch the plot of an episode out.

This comic got me thinking the ending to season 1 or at least the whole show might be something where he has to face his trauma head on because of the ruby pure heart making everyone feel off since they got there. Even better, its going to come to the climactic moment where he has to decide where if he'll accept who he is now (the accept the pure heart) or reject it because of his gargantuan ego.

So many different ways to write it; she has dirt on each of them and uses it to get her way, she saw that they could use her help finding something so she showed up uninvited to offer unsolicited advice, or maybe she spends the entire episode hidden from them and meddling in small ways, just enjoying the show from a distance.
