So this got retconned, right?
how?
explain
What's there to retcon?
>she's GOOOOOONE
I always interpreted the little pink whale as being actually Rose and her room being the only way he could connect with her.
No? It was Rose's room. Rose's room is still there and it can simulate certain things. The Whale spoke with Rose's voice most likely because Rose was the primary user of the room.
Yeah but like a memory of her, not literally her communicating out from his gem to the room.
Your interpretation turning out to be wrong doesn’t make something retconned.
Never user, that just the default voice because the room was made from and by her
Pink is not totally gone, she live in human Steven subconscious, even when Pink Steven and Human steven merged her voice could be heard.
yes your headcanon was retconned
Pink is gone, all that's left over is a few random things. It's like when you delete a program and some orphan files are left over. Those files are Pink's memories.
>even when Pink Steven and Human steven merged her voice could be heard.
That's just the remnant of her love for Steven that she left behind as a gift for him, why the seemingly emotionless Pink Steven smiled as human Steven hugged him. It was otherwise blank because she got rid of the rest of her identity.
The Room presents a reflection of Steven's mind. Any representation of Rose has been just what Steven desired. The room used no information about rode outside Steven's knowledge.
when u a dumb nigga tryin to follow a story written for children
This. People assumed it was somehow actually a message from Rose but that was always a headcanon. It's just what Steven assumed and wanted to hear. Wasn't there a trip to Steven's room where he made it create his mom and she couldn't do anything Steven didn't make her do? They clarified that long ago I thought.
I'm happy last episode finally solidified there is no more Pink Diamond. Nothing but Steven being in there anymore both makes sense and is way more narratively satisfying.
Nah, just piss poor writing. If the show had an actual writing team that knew what they were doing you and all the early conspiracy theory youtubers would of understood what Rose's room actually represented.
Remember kids, just because you got lucky and landed a storyboarding job doesn't mean you're suddenly qualified to be a writer.
>Muh conspiracy theories
Oh god, I feel bad for you just reading this. I hope you were just taking the piss.
What's poor writing about it? I really want to understand what angle this is coming from. It seemed clear to me.
STOP CALLING IT HEADCANON ITS JUST A FUCKING THEORY
CALL IT A THEORY
THATS WHAT IT IS
>If the show had an actual writing team that knew what they were doing you and all the early conspiracy theory youtubers would of understood what Rose's room actually represented.
You mistake is thinking theory YouTubers would EVER stop assuming stupid things about what things actually mean. It's just what people do. The show literally had the gem form of Steven, devoid of almost everything about Pink scream "SHE'S GOOOOOONE" at the top of its lungs, and yet we still have people theorizing about how Pink/Rose might somehow someday come back, so people can be told something explicitly and still theorize that maybe something else is actually the case.
That's just User Interface, dummy.
in fairness, the absolute lies repeatedly told to us at the end of season 3 are partly to blame for this. people don't trust the show to not lie now, that's why it's considered bad writing to outright lie to the audience
>Remember kids, just because you got lucky and landed a storyboarding job doesn't mean you're suddenly qualified to be a writer.
Underrated comment. Never let the guy who's in charge of outlining the series of drawings write the script itself/plot a story driven show, that's not his fucking job.
You are retarded if you think the boarders have any power over the actual plot.
They get to plot out their individual episodes so long as it eventually leads to Rebecca's vague outline. That's an obscene level of freedom that can actually derail your story.
>another user that doesn't know what retcon means
the cloud construct just had her voice, obviously the default voice would be hers she created the fucking room. Rose was always dead.
Didn't Zuke almost make Lapidot canon and the only way to stop her was to eject her from the show entirely?
>and yet we still have people theorizing about how Pink/Rose might somehow someday come back, so people can be told something explicitly and still theorize that maybe something else is actually the case.
Doesn't help that they go this route, liteally screaming something is this way in their show, but then in the very next thing with it they go
>Oh by the way there's also this special weapon that 'resets' gems back to their original form, and even though it looks like all of their memories are gone they can actually remember them after the 'erasure'. Whats that? Couldn't they just do this to Pink since the gem still remembers her form and Roses, so it would take her shape again? Someone play the clip of him screaming so we don't have to think about what we just did!
If the writers could just step back and think about their own plots for two minutes people probably wouldn't be able to figure out all the way what they said was wrong. Seriously, who pitched a reset button immediately after a major storyline about how you can't reset back to the way things were and okayed it!?
Theories don't get reconned. Headcanon is when you treat it like canon when it ain't.
>that's why it's considered bad writing to outright lie to the audience
Literally how is that bad writing, Garnet was the source of most information we got and we quickly learned how unreliable she was
Since the very first season the show stressed Rose kept secrets
>S1 Garnet: Rose kept many things secret, even from us.
I don't know why it's become standard to not have writers anymore but I do hate it.
This does kind of undermine Steven's entire growth as a character, thinking about it. Doesn't help that the scythe did reset for him and now for all we know might have reformed if it hadn't been inside him. Maybe damaging his memories would have shown that the gem and him are connected instead of it just being a glorified life support/powerup system for him? Because presenting it as able to reset with no actual detriment to Steven as a person just keeps highlighting that gem is not him, no matter what he looks like.
>Seriously, who pitched a reset button immediately after a major storyline about how you can't reset back to the way things were
I didn't even think about it that way but yeah, the entire plot of the whole Diamond subplot got rendered moot, they could have Pink back at any time and work on her memories from there, if they even wanted her memories at all and White wasn't just sick of that shit and zotzed her. The movie makes it seem like Rose is still there, inside, just waiting for the plotscythe to cut when its not stuck in a meat gestalt.
story of my fucking life
>reset Pink
>she sees a Cookie Cat or a Crystal Gem or something
>turns back into fat boy
there's a reason why it was considered defunct tech. the fact Pink Steven had Steven's voice says her information was wiped over resetting it may just make Baby Pink Steven or something. rejuvenators may as well not even exist in the main story, it was only introduced for the movie.
>>turns back into fat boy
That's assuming white doesn't just Yeet her like she did everyone else in the room. Pearl needed a whole fucking musical number before it even happened, she had time.
>r resetting it may just make Baby Pink Steven or something.
Ain't what they showed, they showed Pink's form, then Rose, then Steven. It doesn't even seem to have a possible Baby-Steven form.
>rejuvenators may as well not even exist in the main story, it was only introduced for the movie.
Oh okay, it doesn't count, because it came out immediately after in a movie made to highlight past events from the show. I mean if it's good for writers of the movie it must be good for whoever keeps okaying this dumb shit.
Kinda find if funny fans of this show keep bending over backwards for obvious plotholes and shitty writing, though I'll give credit that a lot of them stopped after the movie was so stupid even they couldn't justify that massive dumbass plothole.
>after the movie was so stupid even they couldn't justify that massive dumbass plothole.
>He responds to a comment showing that this "plothole" doesn't even exist
Ignoring how that reply beneath it showed the massive flaws in that idea, we both know thats not the massive plothole so stupid nobody argues it, that also happens to be the basis for the whole movie. A plothole so obvious and so stupid, Star Wars fans finally feel kinship after the last Jedi. A plothole so massive, the movie on a fundamental level doesn't function.
Go on, deny he had zero reason not to go get the diamonds at the start, lets see you dance.
The show had an entire fucking episode revolving around how that's not the case.
The memories are connected to the flesh part, though.
No they're not, they were completely changed without any effect to the flesh part, at best the flesh part can influence the gem part but other than that they're a symbiotic relationship of two distinct entities. The gem is just a battery that Steven can use, it doesn't need him to survive and he doesn't need it to think or form memories of his own.
Except you can recover anything that was at one point on a hard drive.
So no, she’s not gone.
Not necessarily. I think Pink Diamond acts in favor of Steven when necessary. In the room, Rose has some control. The tiny floating whale asked a question Steven would not have asked himself. Room Connie seemed like how she would parent Steven. Steven was okay with agreeing with Connie despite the lie but I would imagine if Rose was witnessing it she would be disgusted. It felt very much like a parent to pin down the child & get a confession to correct wrong behavior.
I would imagine Rose is pretty mellow riding in Steven's belly but just that one time she was irritated at him & actually addressed it.
Only legitimate reason would be that Steven would rather have the gems reset than endure any more of the diamonds' smorhering.
If a rejuvenator cannot permanently erase a gem, then why would you think Pink Diamond would? Is it even possible for a gem to be wiped clean? Doesn't seem like it.
Yeah but implying the protagonist of the show is so shitty a human being he'd rather the earth be turned into an apocalyptic hellscape from which all life is snuffed out rather than just go talk to his nagging aunts would kind of make him somehow worse than Star from Star Vs.
Pink Diamond is a hell of a lot more powerful than a random tool that can't even do its job right.
Do we know though?
