The Mysterious Mysteries episode is so underrated comedy wise, Zim and Gaz’s interpretation of the events is fucking hilarious.

While he talks about doing what's best for humanity, he's pretty clearly a misanthrope who just wants to feel validated. The VR episode made it clear that all his desires involve him essentially being seen as the apex of humanity loved by all, saving the world is just part of reaching that. He's a selfish little turd at his core.

No. Dib is more attention seeking than truly altruistic. He clearly wants praise and recognition as the saviour of humanity and sole defender of earth. Both Dib and Zim are attention whores and for largely the same reasons (neglected/ignored with daddy issues), which is why they make great foils for each other.

I like how in Gaz's dramatic re-enactment, even the actress for Gaz looks angry inside her mask. The attention to detail is great.

I would just like to offer the viewpoint that Gaz's attitude toward Dib was completely justified. Gaz is a little girl that just wants to have a normal childhood and spend as much time as she can with her dad, who she unfortunately rarely gets to see. Dib and Gaz don't even have a mother figure in their life. What does her big brother think about that? Nothing. Dib has zero regard for Gaz, her thoughts, her feelings, or her wishes.
