I actually love the show even with the horrible release schedule. Maybe it's because I was kind of chill with releases and never felt that eager for a new episode. Like, I loved the episodes as they were, but once the bomb was over I just shifted my attention else where until like three bombs later and I remembered "Oh yeah, Steven Universe was a show." and binged everything until the present an forgot it again.

Why do people keep being surprised at Steven's super-strength? Kid full-on threw a mini fridge 20 feet into a monster in his first episode. Many of the Season 1 episodes feature Steven solving a conflict by smashing something, and he's been getting stronger ever since. In the episode where Marty comes back to Beach City, Steven's casually lifting giant stage equipment single-handedly, and now that we have a 2 year time skip, it only makes sense his powers have increased.
Sounds like you need to believe in Steven.

I've always preferred binging several episodes of Steven Universe to waiting to see them individually when they come out.

Much, much better. I introduced some friends to it and we binged through like 10 episodes a night, skipping a lot of episodes (mostly filler) just to get through all of them. The show was immediately more enjoyable to watch because you got hyped and stayed hyped rather than getting disappointed by 5 townie episodes in a week followed by a 6 month hiatus

You mean “not plot-heavy,” right? The Townie eps can still be enjoyed as their own individual stories, with some having an added moral regarding familial, platonic, or romantic relationships. Townie eps can either be funny (“Rising Tides, Crashing Skies”; “Restaurant Wars”) or emotionally charged (basically any LarsxSadie episode).

If Adventure Time has taught me anything, it’s to be more open-minded to different/unconventional stories, especially when they’re only 11-minute episodes rather than taking a full hour of your time for a POTENTIALLY pointless story each week. Sure, AT has burned me multiple times post-Season 3–“Sad Face” and a huge chunk of S6 come to mind—but SU has always had a clear sense of direction. The Crewniverse likes to experiment from time to time, but they still seem to have an actual reason for why each episode exists, unlike the AT Crew that put main characters and interesting ideas on hold so they could fuck around with random, “autere” episodes (Jesse Moynihan, Somvilay Xayaphone, and Seo Kim can go fuck themselves).

And if plot really is all you care about since cartoons can’t just simply be enjoyed as a short, one-episode story, many of the Townie episodes still have underlying plot significance by introducing more of Steven’s powers, adding more worldbuilding, or even throwing hints at how Gems have affected Earth.

TL;DR: Quit being such a baby and give Townie episodes a chance... except for “Onion Gang.”

I thought the opposite, that if Steven could communicate with the cluster in his dreams then Pink probably would be consciously aware of the cluster the minute she's told it exists. And she's a regular diamond, if she gives orders all other gems follow them even if they drag their feet doing it

how would they even do this? have garnet tell steven the story of alternate timelines for some contrived reason? there is so much the show could do if they could just rip themselves out of the fucking forced steven perspective.

Steven convinced the utterly shattered and in pain gems that made up the Cluster to accept the state and find equilibrium and harmony, and he did it as a friend. Pink just telling them to serve might not get the best results.

What did Yea Forums think of the visuals in Steven Universe: The Movie? I’m talking animation, character & background design, color palettes, etc.

Despite being a TV movie, I still get a strong sense that the Crewniverse really strived to make it look as theatrical and cinematic as possible, and they more or less nailed it. The rim lights on each character was a nice detail to add, and that classic Disney-style opening unironically brought me to tears.

Also Rebecca has said that the way she works on Steven Universe is heavily based on the way she worked on Adventure Time. It shaped the way she works.

I like the Steven only perspective because he's my favourite so even if there's an episode that would otherwise be boring I might still get some enjoyment out of it. The movie was the best that SU has looked. Everything got a punch up, evening the pacing was decent.

His entire thing is change, that’s why Rose made sure he was born with his Gem, so he could change Gemkind, his effect on the Gems is the reason behind their character development.

beach city residents are only irritating because as the show went on they had nothing to do with the gem plotlines. something like gravity falls intergrated their townies with the magic shit way better.

Or what if beach city stayed and it focuses on the gems trying to understand their choices in the aftermath of a civil war that took their leader. Can still have the same progression from monster of the week, cluster, then homeworld with townie episodes in between without Steven.

Even the movie has him fixating on a "happily ever after" which doesn't really exist.

The user I replied to used it first, though, and he was already wrong because the CGs went through a fuck ton of personal change already before Steven was even born.

In his approach to conflict with non-mindless creatures? No, there's no fucking difference and that's one of the main parts of the show.

He was still naive in the end though, he kept trying to just talk to White Diamond and almost died for it, Steven only lives through all of his pacifism due to how powerful he is.

Steven Universe is literally a COMING-OF-AGE STORY. That’s the exact term that was used when the show was first announced back in late 2012. Rebecca wants the show to be seen through Steven’s perspective because we as an audience should be introduced to Gem lore, Beach City life, and how those intertwine at the same pace that he is. Change that, and you’ve got a completely different vision than what Rebecca intended.

I was always mostly happy with the pacing of the show from the show's perspective. People complaining the plot wasn't moving along fast enough really lost sight of the fact that it was a show about character development and not how to punch the next threat harder. I do admit though somewhere around the 4th and 5th season the show really lost focus on what it was really building towards or doing anything to establish a threat.

He was always forcing it, sure, but that wasn’t as obvious during the first 2 or so seasons. After a while, though, you could feel the strain on Callison’s voice. This was even more apparent whenever he’d do the voice at Comic-Con. I wouldn’t say Zach got “better” or “worse” over time, but maintaining the young Steven voice clearly got harder for him until the movie.

Compare that to Jeremy Shada, who was allowed to develop Finn’s voice and let it deepen and mature along with him. From high-pitched S1 voice cracks to S7 low composure, Finn’s voice always sounded natural while still remaining unique and recognizable to that character.

Well... if my headcanon about the aspects of the diamonds holds: White is control (or intellect... she is the head after all... although she should also be the heart), Blue is restraint (or apathy, the left arm), Yellow is power (the strong right arm) and Pink is passion (the belly and genitals).
Pink was deliberately made small, but passion, emotion, cannot be contained.

Passion is love and joy, but also anger, and beyond a certain point, if you get angry or sad enough, passion overrides everything else. Like with the Hulk.

It's also why I theorized the gem who turned out to be Spinel was actually 'Red Diamond', the original fourth diamond, the 'heart' of the authority. But she proved unstable and uncontrollable, her love and fury threatening the Gempire, so her sisters imprisoned her. But now she had broken free and came to take revenge on the one who had taken her place: Pink Diamond, who was pink because the red of passion had been abated by including a little white, so she was still playful and emotional, but also a little aloof and cool.

Unlike Spinel, she would have been totally unreasonable, a true enemy and innately unredeemable because her very self made that impossible and unnatural.
