How would the series work if Pearl was an antagonist?

How would the series work if Pearl was an antagonist?

I think an "evil" Pearl would be on the same power level as Jasper or ocean gem Lapis desu.

Pearl as an antagonist would honestly be great but it would really mess with the balance that the 3 cgs have with Steven. Ya know with garnet as the dad Pearl as the responsible mom and Amy as the big sister. When replaced with Spinel, she'd be more like another sister for Steven then a mother, the whole thing would be lopsided, it's be like having two amythest.

As much as I like Spinnel, I don't really think you can swap Pearl and her around even if they were both gems both made to aide Pink. Spinnel is goofy and fun loving, Amethyst is similarly like this, as is Steven to some extent. The show needs Pearl as a naggy mother type to fill out a proper dynamic.

Give her access to and knowledge of all of Pink Diamond's armories and other vaults. The danger she presents isn't from her physical power but her planning and the resources she has access to, with her obsessive nature driving her to be a constant threat compared to the distant, disinterested nature of the Authority.

The issue is, what would motivate a Pearl to be the main antagonist, and how would that motivation make them a threat?
Our Pearl's dedication to Rose forced her to become a knight that could utilize different weaponry and tactics, but take that away and she's just another Pearl and they don't really have special powers except from their nigh infinite storage.

Pearl isn’t actually all that powerful or strong. Certainly not on par with Jasper or Lapis. Her real advantage is her attention to detail. She would have spent her time studying and learning about the Crystal Gems to have a strategy against each of them to take them out with the Rejuvenator, before turning on Steven.

I don't see a younger, less-actualized Pearl going evil because of that. Maybe she would've been happy to wait in that garden for 6000 years, as long as her diamond had ordered it?

If anybody were the Dad it would be Garnet. Which she’s not, because Greg exists.

>two amythest
>implying that's a bad thing.

you could make spinel the fun mom.

While I do like Spinel, user has a point, she'd be kind of redundant with Amethyst in the cast, they kind of fulfill the same character roll (and also have similar powers, and are both comic relief goofballs), the only real difference is that Amethyst has a far more obvious character arc then Spinel does.
The only way Spinel works thematically is if you cut Amethyst all together, but then you wouldn't really have an "Earth" gem on the team.

That's already Amethyst's thing.

And when she finds out her diamond is gone?

Pearl was a shit mother anyways.

amethyst is more sister then mom.

Pearl mastered the sword because the revolution, if rose just dumped her somewhere she won't be able to do a shit.

She's a combination sister/fun mom

Sadness and depression. Probably not vengeance though, if she knew PD gave up her life willingly. It's not like our Pearl ever tried to kill Greg in

Pearl being a mom is such a meme. She's retarded, this was shown time and time again.
Even Steven said Amethyst is the most mature.

Pearl hacks herself and now is like a walking ghost buster containment trap. Her forehead is now hell instead of a trip down memory lane and Steven must do some sort of musical number to break everyone out of it.

That's easy
Make it so PD brought Spinel with her, crystal gem war starts and she quickly becomes Roses right hand next to pearl. Through more and more battles, Rose starts to appreciate Spinel and starts to neglect Pearl more. Pearl gets increasingly jealous at Spinel, and eventually, maybe during the final battle with the diamonds before they did the corruption song, Pearl Throws hands at Spinel, much to her dismay. Spinel accidentally Poof's Pearl, and before she can get her gem, the diamonds song goes off and rose grabs garnet and her into her sheild. Afterwards, Spinel tries to find pearls gem but never finds it, unknowing that her gem fell through a crevas underground, escaping the blast but seperated from the rest. When she gets out from underground after about 1000 years she finds out that the war is over and that her CG "Friends" have seemingly given up. Feeling betrayed, Pearl confronts them and tried to engage in a fight, specifically with spinel. She loses cause the other gems jump in. Says some shit about betrayal and how rose "destroyed this thing we had" before she uses a nearby warp pad to Pinks secret armory and destroys the warp to it, cutting both herself and the others from following her. 5000 years later she turns into and honestly idk where to take it from here or how she even gets Stevens message. But yeah, that's how I feel you'd do it.

Why did you post ducc?

Pearl would be the gem in the shadows, backing whomever could get the job done.

Assuming P. Pearl can gain insta-combat abilities like Spinel did in the movies, the Crystal Gems would be looking at a bio-toxin injector being guarded by an invading army of Holo-Pearls laying siege to Beach City.

Really, they wouldn't even have to be all Pearls. She could make holograms of any kind of gem she wants, even one of Pink Diamond.

Attached: bs40f61fa8dz.jpg (1693x475, 40K)

Her holograms are potentially deadly if you equip them with the right weapons

Hell, give them the Armor of the Fallen so that it's just a bit harder to poof them

And she hacks Gem technology pretty well considering she's been cut off for 6000 years.

If she had access to the latest gem tech, and she had been constantly updating her Holo-Pearl programsbfor the last 6000 years she could probably have taken over a couple of Gem colonies

Spinel could have been the fun mom who spoiled Steven for much of his life, which would explain why Steven was so autistically enthusiastic and naive in the first season

Probably just had flesh covering the extra ridges on the diamond.

Well if Pearl's instantly become subservient to the first person they see, all Pearl has to do is find a stash of those things, tell them she's their master, and boom you've got an army of suicide bombers coming at ya'. Doesn't matter if they aren't strong, numbers win wars.

I wonder if Pearls can even imprint on other pearls. I mean it worked on Greg, but at the same time maybe there's some kind of check to prevent a tool from imprinting on another tool

How many Pearls are there compared to Quartz and Ruby soldiers though?

Pearls seem to be reserved for high ranking Gems, a status symbol to show your place in the Gem hierarchy

Well the whole point is to fucking kill Earth and ruin Steven's happy ending, she don't need more than enough to do that.
That, and the hologram creation means that, at minimum, she'd double any forces she collects.

I mean, if the show cared about power levels, Garnet/Sapphire would be broken as hell, Sapphire a lot worse since she's practically the Petshop of SU if her powers got utilized like that.

that's called being a child you miserable cunt.

>Jasper level
As fucking if, Pearl couldn't even throw hands with Jasper herself. Garnet had to go heads up with her by herself. If you genuinely think Pearl could 1v3 the crystal gems, with spinel in their team? Out of pocket

jasper was a jobber, so pearl is technically above her

A fun mom is basically a sister, that's why they're shit

What if Rose had originally killed CG Ruby right after Garnet's first fusion causing Sapphire to go mad and fuse with a bunch of random Rubies and she was the one coming back for revenge?

Why would rose do that
And who would even replace garnet, Bismuth?

He was a thirteen year old who was acting like he was ten, had the events of the show not happen, he probably would have turned out like Chris Chan

Pearl would unironically makes for much less of a jobber villain. She would've came with better plan than to bring a bio-acid injector

Kids who don't have a lot of friends act like that. Steven's friends of his age group that age were like, fucking Onion and PD.

Oh ya know lemme add one thing to this
The armory has plenty of materials, including a communicator/broadcaster thing. That's how Pearl would know when it's time to come back and dab on the gems

That doesn't even make sense considering that Steven is super-outgoing and gregarious, in stark contrast to CWC.

To be fair, it's pretty explicit that Sapphire can only see the most probable future, and Garnet sees thousands of possible futures at once.

Spinel would be the Uncle Joey of the CGs.

But pearl is pretty weak compared to all three combined, how is she going to SCYTH them all at the same time?

If Pearl was the villain she strikes me more of the strategist or assassin type. She wouldn't go at them in a straight fight or at least she'd use minions

She fully considered pulling out baby Steven's gem because she thought Pink might be trapped.
She had only been separated from Rose a couple of months at best.

....who?

That was after forming a strong bond with her, getting new ideas from her, getting a crush on her, and fighting beside her for thousands of years.

Cute duck

She could always do
UNLIMITED BLADED WORKS sword spam

Cringe zoomer.

I have a suspicion that if Pink had brought Spinel with her, they would sill have needed to fetch Pearl at some point anyhow. Besides, it was Pearl's idea for Pink to become Rose to begin with, so the whole rebellion never happens without Pearl.

boomer cringe

Honestly I hope season 6 has a few heel turns. The only notable one we got was Ruby and it would be a good dilemma for Steven to experience the double sided coin that comes with everyone being redeemed. That they can be unredeemed

So, the best character?

Attached: Jack unamused.png (743x545, 420K)

>Pink has Spinel impersonate either Rose Quartz or Pink Diamond at various times to aupport the charade

He meant the ice powers, if Garnet could control the ice/fire powers it would be like a beefy Todoroki.

In theory I like how Garnet combines Ruby's heat with Sapphire's ice to create electricity. More fusions should do stuff like that

But both Ruby and Sapphire do so much more with their respective elements and Garnet almost never does anything with electricity

Wasn't she effectively a rapist for one episode? At least if the fusion-sex metaphor holds up.

I hadn't thought of that untill after I posted, but is it really that out of character for her? The way of life for organics is clearly offputting for her (she hates the thought of "eating", for example).
I doubt she'd hesitate to free her Diamond from the prison of disgusting flesh. Especially so, if she's never actually met humans before

Considering how the Gems are, a Pearl could probably get pretty far just by demanding things in the name of a high ranking official like a Diamond.

Pearls seem to hover between designer dogs and secretaries in status; no Gem is going to think that one of them would have the initiative to falsely make a claim like that.

Tbh bismuth seems like she might be had more interesting character development than garnet

She's mopped the floor with Amethyst before. She probably can't compete in power but skillwise she's probably the best out of the trio

Pearl would be a great opponent, it could work with her being PD/RQ lieutenant during the Rebellion but maybe she never wanted to poof her Master and eventually betrayed her?

since she was so close to Pink Diamond tho, Steven "hug power" would be infinitely powerful, especially when she finds out Steven is basically Pink Diamond in another form

>Pencil-bodied mom friend gone
>Everyone is basically a child now
That concept actually seems pretty interesting.

We've seen how hopelessly, frantically maternal Pearl is. The moment it looked like she hurt Steven she'd burst into loud, absurd sobbing and give up.

That's why she wouldn't make a good villain. The moment she realized she was hurting PD's friends she'd be overcome with guilt and puss out.

It's not a heel turn if she's just lying the whole time. Fucking Ruby, best villain of the series. I hope she never comes back, I couldn't bear to see her get "redeemed".

> spinel with the trash
nice touch

Pretty great seeing how Pearl got cucked by Greg.

But if we go by Anons reinterpretation it could honestly work

i feel like we could do a whole group of "people who waited for someone, but never got to see again" edit.
