ITT: Albums that would've been ideal to adapt into animated movies.
>In the album's post-apocalyptic world, pollution is so bad that the populace are forced to wear Lifesuits, suits that simulate all experiences in a way that no one would have to leave home. The suits are plugged into a huge mainframe called the Grid, similar to today's Internet, controlled by a man named Jumbo. [Behind Blue Eyes]
>The story begins when Ray and Sally, potato farmers in Scotland, hear of a rock concert called Lifehouse occurring in London. Their daughter, Mary, runs away to join the concert, and Ray and Sally ("Sally take my hand, we'll travel south 'cross land") decide to follow her there on a road trip. [Baba O'Riley, Going Mobile, Love Ain't for Keeping] Bobby, the creator of Lifehouse, is a hacker who broadcasts pirate radio signals for his concert, where the participants' personal data is taken from them and converted into song form. [Getting in Tune] Mary meets up with Bobby and they develop a close relationship. [Bargain]
>At the climax of the album, the authorities have surrounded the Lifehouse [Won't Get Fooled Again], then the perfect "One Note" rings forth through the combination of everybody's songs. The police storm the place, only to find everybody has disappeared through a sort of musical nirvana. [The Song Is Over]
Pete townshend came up with the Lifehouse idea in the early 70s, then scrapped it, but then he revived it again in the late 90s-early 2000s when stuff like the Matrix was coming out and his old ideas seemed relevant again
That right there would've been the perfect time to make an animated Lifehouse movie. Ideally they would've gotten either Genndy (Samurai jack) or the Wachowskis (Animatrix) to make it, as their style would fit the concept nicely.

Yeah, I'm an oldfag. I knew about Lifehouse. Pick up Lifehouse Chronicles for a more complete musical profile of what could have been.
But I totally agree. And I almost feel like animation would be the only way to go with that story. Like, I don't think live-action would do it justice without a ton of CGI. And if you're gonna do a ton of CGI, just do animation anyway.
Anything by Mars Volta, either Deloused at the Comatorium or In the Bedlam of Goliath.
Nathaniel Martin
Starless by King Crimson. Red, One More Red Nightmare and Starless and Bible Black would work perfectly a the story of a man succumbing into depair and madnes until the moment of his dead. The whole thing is like a Beaudelaire story, there's something evil and wicked there, subtle yet strong.

The musical animatics don't cut it for me; fully animated movie or nothing
This. Animated either in rotoscope or in a god save the queen diy style collage made of magazines and comics from the early 2000s. Story just follows the rough outline from the album, including the ambiguity. St. Jimmy never appears in a shot without Jesus. Whatsername is made out of white space indicating a lot of her has been forgotten. Etc. It'd be a pain to do but it'd be worth it for the shot of Jimmy standing on a dock and blowing his brains out into the water thats a bunch ofnold drug PSAs pained blue.
I mean it's just The Freeshooter, but I would love to see it done in a real sketchy style. Also I would love to see Tom Waits get a speaking role as Ol' Pegleg. youtube.com/watch?v=1OridEogeAA
The Iron Giant started off as a musical based on a Pete Townshend solo album, based on the Ted Huges novel. This music video is the closest we ever got to seeing that.
Apparently it's getting adapted into a Graphic Novel. Townshend hahs been a lot more productive lately, I'm excited to see what else he has in the works. Just yesterday the first song from the new Who record came out, and it's actually really good, even tho it is just a more well produced version of an already released Pete Townshend song with Daltrey doing the vocals. But that's basically everything that's had The Who name attached to it since Moon died
Cameron Davis
That sounds cool, but I'm still sad there was never a movie.

Either Dark Side of the Moon or The Wall by Pink Floyd
Alexander Taylor
The story would pretty much be about growing into adolescence being pretty scary in terms if understanding the world and relationships, romantic or otherwise
Razia's Shadow got a neat storyline, a nice vibe and takes place in a cool original setting and mythology. I envision it as a sort of western, slightly darker, Ghibli saga, animated by James Stokoe or the dudes that made that Caravan Palace video? youtube.com/watch?v=znHpyf1Lolo&list=PL9D8F6376021120BA Third track, Life Is Looking Up, has been a long-time favourite of mine, and years ago I had plans to make an AMV for it, out of the french film Nocturna… youtube.com/watch?v=V-xqaE7Ojk8
It would be absolutely magical. Imagine a ship gliding through a realm of Roger Dean paintings, the Mirror Dimension from Doctor Strange, and those floating islands from Avatar. Plus the inner artwork is also gorgeous and could provide more inspiration.
Considering the only good songs on the album (except My Wife) came from the scrapped Lifehouse project (Baba O'Riley, WGFA and Behind Blue Eyes), I would like to see a genuine adaptation or a continuation of what Towshend has left us

>blue oyster cult, fire of unknow origin it could be about a veteran of the psychic wars,a super power war in a post apocaliptic science fantasy world
I just want a music video of How the World Fell Under Darkness. the slow melancholy of the train out of town the hammer/anvil sounds as the machines are built the marching time-lapse of skyscrapers and broadcast towers being constructed cut to darkness at the final crescendo, city lights twinkling as though seen from high above...
Pretty much. This album had a direct impact on Spongebob's creation and humor. It even gets referenced in early seasons. There's a reason Ocean Man was picked for the movie credits Also apparently this band was the direct inspiration for Eric Cartman's voice
Only if it were made by someone else, if were produced by the band I can't help but feel it'd be up its own ass in the sort of insufferable way that only the metal scene can muster.
