IF this is true. How will The Long Halloween be adapted to film? I feel like it would work better as a limited series. Also the quality would be HEAVILY dependent on who they cast as Gordan and Harvey Dent
IF this is true. How will The Long Halloween be adapted to film? I feel like it would work better as a limited series...
John David Washington is rumored to be Dent
Mahershala Ali was rumored to be the top choice for Gordon
>Mahershala Ali was rumored to be the top choice for Gordon
He already passed. Now Giancarlo Esposito and Jamie Foxx are in the mix.
Foxx will probably take it.
>John David Washington
have no problem with a black dent, billy dee would've been great in the role. gordon has to be ginger though.
But Dark Knight was already based on Long Halloween
Ah yes, the story where the world's greatest detective worked for a year on a mystery and didn't solve it.
>Gordon
Keep JK Simmons
>Giancarlo Esposito
If he wants to be typecast for the rest of his life, then I have no issue with it.
Id be fine with a black Gordan but a black Harvey just wouldn’t have the same aesthetic.
Harvey was black in the first Batman movie (Billy Dee)
He's always been black. It was fine.
I’m sure Billy Dee was a lot less angry about his contract being violated after he saw Batman Forever
hey, I like the schumacher movies
While that’s a valid opinion, Harvey Dent/Two-Face was terribly written
I read "based on The Lion King" and now I need that to happen
i mean it kinda already is, if young Bruce knew Joe Chill as his uncle, and if like, Andrea Beaumont was his childhood friend and she was the one who got him to go back to Gotham
and if Zatara and Yoru-sensei were a couple of wisecracking guys singing songs about kickin' back..
>Dark Knight was already based on Long Halloween
Was it? It's been ages since I've read The Long Halloween. What parts were included in the movie?
>making Gordon black
Why? Dent's fine because there's some precedent for that but a black Gordon just feels...wrong.
it somewhat ruins the timeless feeling of gotham to have a black police commissioner.
Ehhhh what was essentially a cameo doesn’t count. Plus he never actually played two-face, which where the aesthetic issue comes in to play
I mean, Gordon himself being black is odd but I can get over it, the issue is that Barbara will be black because of it, and that's another "redhead turned black" to add to the list
Basically the whole Harvey Dent arc
That's why they're doing it
>Id be fine with a black Gordan
Why?
Probably because if I got a Lethal Weapon Danny Glover type Gordan Id really enjoy it
What a twist!
Look I just don't give a shit about Harvey "Two-Face" Dent, okay? If they do The Long Halloween I say nut up and actually make Calendar Man the killer. Throw in a parade of Gotham's weird villains from Solomon Grundy to Clayface and I'm good
Fine I guess
I still say a movie based on Arkham Asylum: Serious House on Serious Earth would make for a pretty cool batman movie.
At this rate the movie is going to be Batman Takes on the Inner City.
Arkham Asylum would make an excellent TV show, but it would have to be a serious hourlong HBO style thing, not some cheap soap opera crap like Gotham or Arrow.
Gordon is a red head so it makes sense
Like Oz but with Batman's rogues gallery and a smidgen less buttsex?
I'd watch it
Unironically makes sense for a ghetto city like Gotham to Be filled with my fellow African American brothers
Basically, yeah. And you could have Harley Quinn as a psychologist and everything. Jeremiah Arkham is a great character. There's a lot there to work with.
Oz but Gotham. Perfect way of putting it.
Blackwashing is wrong in general. I don't get Hollywood's fetish for it
I KNEW THERE WAS A REASON WHY IT WAS CALLED BLACKGATE PRISON!
Giancarlo I wasn't sure about, but I can kind of see it when I try. Jamie Foxx just comes off as too young and energetic for me to see him as the grizzled, pragmatic seen-it-all commissioner Gordon is.
imagine if they actually make a good movie for once
>Plus he never actually played two-face
Funny thing is that he actually did years later as a cameo in the Lego Batman Movie.
