OHG is for discussion of classic, old-school, and "golden age" hip-hop. In other words, real rap music that's focused on lyrics and bars without any autotune "singing."

Jay-z had the better album
the black eyed peas killed off hip hop
Eminem is overrated
The Don Killuminati is the best rap album ever made
Listen to this album.

Always loved this little gem right here
I really miss the storytelling aspect of hip hop that was bigger when I was younger.
Hieroglyphics
Souls of Mischief
Dilated Peoples

What’s your favorite bar
KRS-One needs to be taught in schools
>so tell me daily news - and all the magazines
>ricky d's in control - of what? - hip hop scene
>uptown, downtown, the man's rated supreme
>if martin luther were here he'd say - 'hey rick I had a dream'
Nice, I was gonna start a thread just like this, OP. Hivemind
I think this record should be essential /OHG/ listening, timeless beats
Have this on a list of albums to listen to. What would you give /10?
Any love for the Dream Warriors? I loved these jams when I was a kid
8.5/10 i like labcabincalifornia better but thats an unpopular take.

Scared to death, scared to look, they shook
'Cause ain't no such things as halfway crooks
Scared to death, scared to look, they shook
(We live the life that of diamonds)
'Cause ain't no such things as halfway crooks
Scared to death, scared to look, they shook
'Cause ain't no such things as halfway crooks
Midnight Marauders and 36 Chambers came out on the same day, I can’t imagine how great it must have been to come with both albums, and a big stupid grin on your face
*come home
God dammit

I still don't think people quite understand how good of an album 'I Wish My Brother George Was Here' was/is. Del was coming out with the funkiest shit even way back when no doubt.
>Let the Rhythm Hit 'Em
Only 1 good song
East = South >>>>>> West
the clint eastwood guy????
>Only 1 good song
No Omega
Untouchables
Set Em' Straight
three best songs in Rakim's discography
Yes. Ice Cube's cousin.
>Midnight Marauders
Probably should've mentioned I love that too. Solid album. I feel as if it has the better production compared to the low end theory, but the low end theory has better lyrics.
Why is the West Coast so bad outside of Pharcyde, etc? It’s hard to actually find good stuff that came out of there.
Love it too. Listened to it while high and it changed my life
damn....
Everything gettin cold
Cept for them bullet holes thats the only thing hot
Whyd he have to do this to me...
damn!
I swear you were talking about this song

>OP: fuck this new shit. I listen to old school hip hop because they actually cared about lyrics!
>the old school hip hop: youtu.be
Old three six
Solid 9, I hold it in the same regard I do madvillainy and illmatic. A truly underrated classic
Or maybe it gets the credit it deserves now, I'm not particularly kept up on the hip hop scene anymore but I remember having conversations with people who said to be into 90s rap and the likes and they knew nothing of this album or the pharcydes
MF DOOM is much better as a beatmaker/producer than actual rapper. So I prefer to listen to Metalfingers than his main project.
WHO IS THE NIGGA IN CHARGE OVER HERE
WHO IS THE NIGGA IN CHAAARGE
Also pic rel is one of the hardest debuts ever made, on par with Enter the 36 Chambers and Illmatic
hold on now, DOOM's rapping is fucking great. Super is a good example, he knew how to rap to a beat so well. Which I guess is because he made the beats too.
I guess I meant Hoe Cakes
I too only listen to music from 100 years ago
Nah, DOOM's beats are untouchable, and they're undercut by his mediocre lyrics, or in some cases like the time we faced DOOM he lets the cartoon sample go on just a cunthair too long.
>MF Doom
>Mediocre lyrics
RIP Pee
One of the most under appreciated.
also Havoc as a Producer!

Why does They Reminisce Over You sound so good every time I hear it
Literally never gets old
Large professor is the realest nigga out there
I just got done listening to The End, blew Mystic Stylez out of the water for me, such better flows and beats man three six are the fucking gods
Listen to Kmd, Dooms best rapping easily I'm being deadset, his rapping under the name Mf Doom sounded awkward and gay bro trust me just listen to Kmd
Can we get some real shit, cunts stop posting Reasonable Doubt and talking about Mf Doom this is for oldheads, someone post some shit from 87 or something cunts gotta stop taking the funk up in here some good shits got posted but there's a few faggots
Why are Goodie Mob so underrated? Peak southern funk.

Jay never rapped this hard again
Always makes me feel good when i hear it. Pete Rock is the man
Has anyone here ever listened to this one?
The first track is goofy but after that it gets more serious but still has this sort of joking tone.
Someone give me an opinion because I like it but always feel like its a "bad" album.
My fave hip hop albums
Gang Starr - Moment Of Truth
Jeru Tha Damaja - Sun Rises In The East
Black Moon - Enta Da Stage
OC - Word... Life
Capone & Noreaga - CNN
Soundbombing Vol. 2 (compilation)
This track and video is amazing imo
