Reborn/Rebirth

Hey guys I have a question about Rebirth/current status. I know Superman Reborn merged the character and histories of New 52 and Post Crisis Superman and Lois Lane, but what about everyone else? Are they Post Crisis Versions, New 52 or something different?

A mix. There’s some stuff left over from New 52 but not a lot. There’s some stuff still canon from Post Crisis but not all. Chris Kent was never a thing for example.

Thanks for the response. Hmm. What about Wonder Woman for example, did they still date previously? Does Batman know that his buddy Nu52 Clark is back from the dead and merged with Post Crisis Clark? I'm so confused. Kind of a shame about Chris Kent Last Son was a good story.

>Post Crisis Superman
No he just merged with a version that looked like him, but the current Superman is still the nu52 version, even though the pathetically tried to sell it as a return to the pre-nu52 era without ever delivering.

LarZod is back but he doesn't seem to remember his tike as Chris Kent and since the timelines merged, the 2 Supermans have ceased to exist as separate beings, Batman was there to see Jon being born and the 2 Supermans were always one.

So when Superbro died in front of everyone they just assumed he came back to life somehow and no-one really brings it up?

So for example it's new 52 perry white as well or?

Yeah, we know there was still the explosion of energy since it was referenced post-reborn in New Superman. They've also referenced the supernova power from right before the depowering story. Either way, it seems like he just survived anyway in the new continuity.

No, I think he just never existed since he was part of the whole Superman. When they merged Post crisis and New 52 became the same person so Superman was always a native of the current universe

The only thing I can assume is that it was similar to Superman Red and Blue where Superbro went on to do the duties for 9 years or so while Lois and Clark stayed on the farm to raise Jon and then they remerged

Detective recently had an arc where the villain was a young woman who had literally been born after Batman had to have been Batman for 2 years at the least so we can assume there has been a long timescale now

In the new history, they were always the same one. Superman changed to the new 52 suit some time after Death & Return going by the flashbacks in Reborn.

The t-shirt look seems to be completely removed from continuity though, since I don't think there has been any reference to it since then. Superman returned to his Post-Crisis debut, including the classic suit (although the Kents still died during his youth like with New 52).

so what I'm getting from this is just say fuck it assume most of everything is canon even if its contradictory and go along for the ride

>Post-Crisis
So, the Post-Crisis Clark and Lois weren’t actually the Post-Crisis versions.

According to Superman Reborn, when Manhattan messed with reality, he split Clark and Lois into two. So there were two sets of n52 Clark and Lois: Superbro-Clark and supercontinent-Lois, and the Superdad-Clark and mom-Lois.

What we thought were post-Crisis Clark and Lois was just n52 versions with the post-Crisis memories. That’s why Superdad was weaker than normal until he rejoined with Superbro. He was literally missing half of himself.

This is the best attitude to have about comics. Everything is canon. Nothing is canon. Just find comics you like and enjoy them for what they are.

Yeah, Jurgens explicitly showed this. Superbro’s history is still mostly intact. It just got squished in alongside the post-Crisis stuff. Even Morrison’s Ma and Pa dying on Clark’s prom night is still canon.

>supercontinent-Lois
Damn auto-correct. Should be supercunt-Lois

if he wasn't post crisis why did he have post crisis memories?

I find Jurgens writing hit and miss but he is based for keeping both histories intact instead of inserting his own bullshit *cough*johns*cough*

the kents being dead is the number one thing they should fix, i fucking hate that

fuck the kents, superman running to his parents all the time when he has a moral dilemma is obnoxious. They were dead for over 50 years for a reason, keep them in stories about Clark's childhood.

Who knows? DC doesn't seem to care. They're too busy destroying their fictional earth and fictional characters lives over and over to do any sort of exploration.

Batgod and Hal were never post Flashpoint since those books just continued on even though they did change some shit for Bruce especially in stupidly compressing things, like the fact that Jason was literally Robin for less than 10 months and other #didiocy but post Superman Reborn only the other Rebirth changes (many of which have nothing to do with Superdad's merger with Superbro) such as the return of Wally are different and no one character is really different save for Diana.

>Kind of a shame about Chris Kent Last Son was a good story.
This is a prime example of Didio's idiocy coupled with lazy writers like Jurgens not bothering to read other books - it's one thing to say that Bendis is shitting on canon but at least he looks things up on wikia articles even if he doesn't read the actual stories, but Jurgens doesn't even bother to not contradict shit he himself fucking wrote and if he won't bother with re-reading his own stupid scripts, he's certainly not going to do something like re-read Last Son. As far as how Lor-Zod was used in the Green Lantern books, that's all them picking up on Jurgens and not really their fault since they really couldn't contradict what he had just written in Action.

reborn was retarded. it is literally in the state of: you can pick whatever you want to reference it.

the best thing you can do is to ignore this shitty story and the fusion thing and still keep the whole two universes and supermen separate, because they are indeed different characters.

I thought every character had their new 52 canon merged with Post Crisis in Rebirth

like how Catwoman suddenly knew Btaman was Bruce Wayne

Man how do you guys deal with this bullshit

It was very inconsistent. Even what was established in Reborn itself is often ignored - Robison's JL in the months after Reborn had a story about the early days of the league and it went with the New 52 League even though that's completely wrong according to Reborn since the New 52 League only came some time after Death of Superman.

Morrison also is featuring the New 52 League in his upcoming Green Lantern run for some reason even though nothing makes it a particularly relevant line up anymore.

There was only one Superman, he never dated WW, instead of dying a second time had an energy explosion ala Red and Blue/Geoff Johns N52.

He wasn't affected by the New 52 wave since he was took away by Brainiac in Convergence.

>reborn was retarded. it is literally in the state of: you can pick whatever you want to reference it.

And that's fucking great, it means everything counts and writers aren't limited on what they can and cannot reference.

>the best thing you can do is to ignore this shitty story and the fusion thing and still keep the whole two universes and supermen separate, because they are indeed different characters.

That would be awful since it gives the Post-Crisis Superman no place to belong to, his friends aren't really his.

>very inconsistent
#didiot

also a shitty and crap at his job EIC

bump

DC should have just stuck with the new 52 in all honesty, can just have the characters grow instead of needing all this confusing bullshit.

I don't think they had any intent on making the characters grow.

Supes did in his own books
