Im not a professional by any means. Infact im pretty sloppy. vocaroo.com/1kMNVRMoIYyx Here's some blues. My first time recording using a DAW so im happy about that at least. also been practicing country too.
I've played from 2016 to 2018, I know the basics, the chord names, can form a barre chord I can't make any progress since then, my playing is sloppy, can't play lead guitar for shit, my rhythm playing could also be better. What exercises should I do to finally improve? I want to be at least painfully mediocre.

+ I use to play scales all along the fretboard, my picking didn't improve a tiny bit

Get a God damn metronome. Practice reaching over one or two frets to stretch your fingers. Practice hammer ons and pull offs with all fingers. Practice playing in modes over backing tracks. Practice strum patterns. Practice good technique and posture (if you don't know proper posture for guitar, YouTube it) practice improv over songs on the radio, train your ears to recognize the differences between notes, keys, chords, major vs minor, etc. Practice practicing.

The worst playing on /gg/ bar none, that’s why the target audience of /gbp/ is nonexistent
thanks, metronome will probably do a lot to me I know the theory One of my problems is I played electric without an amp and I hit strings really hard, both when picking and strumming, I need to get rid of that bad habit
Arbitrary restrictions are a good method of practice, such as playing on a single string or restricting yourself to writing something with nothing but open strings. And try to be musical with your playing and not just mechanical - pick a song you like and dissect it in and out by ear.
Either that or deliberately incorporate that into your playing.
>voca.ro/1gbzKQ3X5kx0 can you tab that im trying to learn country. sounds awesome

minor pentatonic exercise pull off 3-0 high e, then grab 2nd fret G pull off 3-0 b, then grab 2nd fret D pull off 2-0 G, then grab 2nd fret A etc voca.ro/160njbBXSRR2 and backwards voca.ro/1dDqVEBtlM4B the other stuff is just hammer ons and pull offs and in between notes are fair game

when you strum do you guys mute the dead strings and strum all the strings or just avoid the dead strings when strumming?
Ryan Anderson
I mute with the left hand and don’t care what the right hand strums. That’s different if you use alternate picking to strum chords though.
After browsing a few of these threads, I've yet to actually hear anybody play decently. It's all just been sloppy dad rock and acoustic incompetence. Is there anybody good that I've missed that actually browses these threads or is Yea Forums just full of shitty guitarists that couldn't compete on reddit?
I just recently got a Squier 70's classic vibe jazz bass and it's really solid. I was going to get a 60's classic vibe in daphne blue but I love the look of the black block inlays on the guitar neck. Wanted to get the geddy lee jazz bass but im too fucking poor right now.
