So are we not going to talk about how the movie implies that Pearls are almost certainly manufactured goods rather than being true harvested gems.

We already knew that.
Because that was right up there with "Rose is a Diamond" with stuff that everyone figured out in the first episode.
How did they know what clams look like?
The same way the gems look female, have clothed-like forms, and also speak english.
Honestly I was more confused as to how Spinel knew what a son was.
Or fishing.
to prime earth to be harvested and inhabited by gems they introduced some homeworld species, which eventually integrated themselves into earth's regular ecosystems.
So can I buy a pearl?
Will she be my property if I do?
What were the customization options?
I assume Steven explained it in his broadcast more or less
because they're all lesbians. They now it by instinct
Now I want a drawfag to draw horrified gems watching a broadcast of Steven explaining human sexual reproduction.
You should have realized all gems are artificial beings when they revealed the Rejuvenator resets them to default factory settings.
The mystery behind who made the Gems is one of those thing's I find really interesting, but know it will never be answered in a satisfying way.
lets see
-blue and black clothes. ,crop top, shorts, thigh highs
- short white hair with bangs
- low voice, calm personaity
- will love cleaning, and learn how to fix computers
- safe word: Trucktron in case she start to become self aware and I need to do a hard reset
would make sense if Pearls came with a in built reset function
Aren't they all manufactured and treated like synthetic tools of the empire?
>so this is my dad, and this is my dads dick.
Makes sense. Pearls aren't formed in the earth like other gems are so you couldn't just inject gem sludge into a planet to make a living pearl, you'd need to harvest pears from clams and then do some other procedure to give them life. The empire probably keeps oyster farms to produce more pearls.
I mean yeah the computer parallels are obvious, but Pearl is clearly unique among the gems (only gem species that's not actually a rock, the unique booting process) in ways that imply that they themselves were created by gems to serve gems.
No wonder peridot couldn't take pearl seriously, She's not even a real gem. I thought Peridot and Jasper were talking down to a runaway slave but she's actually a defective droid.
All the gems are manufactured goods, and they still treat each other like appliances.
Based on the Pearl's we've seen so far you can probably customize their clothing, hair style and vocal patterns. Maybe even their color
I like to think Yellow Diamond chose to make her Pearl sound more nasally so that she'd sound more annoying in the phone
I mean that does explain her mechanical aptitude
In the episode where they build the drill Peridot directly states Pearl's are custom made. I guess you could have just inferred that it means something in the process of making a gem is more strictly controlled with Pearls but the seeds are there.
If all gems are manufactured in one way or another, then the real question is
Who made the diamonds?
We didn't know about Diamonds or what the Gems even were in the first episode though.
Sneeple.
Don't mind him. No one put 1+1 together when they showed pearl would defend rose as a meat shield ("thirsty psycho lesbian") so that's mostly Giorgio tsoukalos logic (throw enough theories and hope one is right).
i guessed it a whole season before the reveal purely because i thought it was the stupidest direction suggar could take the series
all gems are manufactured goods, they're all basically like if you made a toaster but accidentally gave it too much free will so it became its own person
But all the gems are manufactured goods. The whole point is that gems are born immediately knowing what their role in their society is. Pearls are servants that immediately ask questions about what their owners want them to be.
This. Gems are basically robots with advanced enough AI to emulate sapience. It's debatable whether or not they can even be considered alive.
The gems are the result of humanoid women uploading themselves to gemtech, that’s why they all are clearly women despite what anyone says
Surprise dude, pearls AREN'T gems. They come from clams.
OK listen here you double Nephrites, what I mean is this.
>Most gems: treated as citizens, grown in kindergartens
>Pearls: treated as property, synthesized in a lab and sold in stores
Makes sense considering unlike all other Gems we see a Pearl is "artificial" in that it's created by a lifeform.
Underrated answer
im convinced pearls were another alien race subjugated and domesticated by the diamonds, since pearls aren't actually gems
After to movie I'm in the "glorified robot maid" team myself.
SPACE CLAMS
Why would they be fusion-compatible with gems then? And poof the same way and have the same powers?
Probably the only “natural” occurring Gem type.
It’s pretty clear White is the oldest by a significant margin, followed by Yellow/Blue, and then distantly by Pink.
I assume some kind of cosmic event creates them, maybe a neutron star collapsing into a singularly creates a diamond.
Quintessons
it has always been implied that gems never considered pearls as true gems, and more like PDAs
Imagine Steven did not just have one broad, but did a WW2 BBC thing where he explained things about Earth and himself.
>This is Homeworld calling...
Spinel did mention hearing the story over and over again.
years of gem breeding
also, they could of been a competing alien species on the same planet/ solar system and have similar biocharacteristics
Makes sense, my headcanon being the first gems formed from out of bumfuck nothing(abiogemesis), and those eventually switched over to making artificial gems since it was quicker and easier. It would be like humans one day growing babies in vats because it's more advantageous than doing it naturally
so are we not going to talk about how BAD that whole movie was? shit SUCKED, man.
Only good scenes where when Spinel and Steven talked
>Y’know this is pretty twisteeedd, but
>What am I doing? Why do I wanna hurt you so bad?
And every time an event occurs where they might talk more, it’s always NOPE SONG LOL
>a gem that is, by some definitions, manufactured in the real world is also manufactured in a cartoon
Any other glorious insights, Tony Zhou?
there were way too many god damn songs! this should have been a 15 minute long episode and they padded an hour with songs about NOTHING
This was established years ago, user.
there's plenty of legit criticisms to make about this movie, the thing is no masterpiece. but if your complaint is "too many songs" then you unironically need to re-examine your life because there is something deeply wrong with you.
>Grrr why are there songs in this musical
>Thank you for bringing me into the world
So, philosophical question time; if a creature only exists because of you and has a natural tendency towards servitude having been designed from the ground up to be your servant, is it still immoral to allow them to willingly serve as a slave?
You made a bit of a mistake, user. That's not really a valid argument concerning a musical.
So pink chose default as well... huh interesting, you think she had to sing a different song when she told pearl her name.
Based Ronaldo poster.
the garden was probably full of fauna at one point. It at least had insects so she had some understanding of how organic species procreate.
I just realized that cat fingers was not just shapeshifting, but an early nod to Steven's/Rose's ability to create life with its own consciousness.
It’s a fucking rock.
Who gives a shit if it’s a slave?
Why do they make such a big show of Pearl being a 'rebel' when she was just being loyal to her Diamond like her programming dictated?
So uh... who'd save up and buy a Pearl?
I mean, in Back to the Barn Peridot did say Pearls were made-to-order servants.
I thought we already knew this.
So if Pearls are considered no more than property, the Ruby part of Rhodonite must be considered a real degenerate, running off and fusing with a Pearl. Basically the gem equivalent of a guy marrying his body pillow.
Or some gems are well-versed in how other species work. How else would Rose know about sex and having sex and getting pregnant?
White was a diamond planet that became sentient or broke off from one.
Because most people unanimously agree it was a great movie and the best thing to come out of SU.
>unanimously
I'm pretty sure you should at least be of the age where you've developed a theory of mind before you can post here.
Well telling by the fact pink pearl exists before our current pearl along with the fact past pink pearl closely went through some serious stuff, I'm guessing our current pearl was put in default for a reason. Maybe default setting put pearls at a more responsible and self competent personality to assure things get done. Diamond settings seem to take orders without question and much more flexible to control since a diamond is clearly supposed to be competent at what they do.
So seeing how pink diamond acts, it's clear nothing good can come from her having a pearl on a diamond setting.
Stores dont exist as currency does not exist for gems.
God Almighty BOW TO JESUS
Sold as a bonus/ for Citizen Social points or whatever then.
There's some system in place regarding ownership.
Because they already told us that
The Diamonds are the only naturally occurring gems and the they harvest their sweat to produce artificial gems. Natural reproduction takes much longer, which is why only four diamonds exist
>they harvest their sweat
Hot
Because she was still pretending that Rose wasn't Pink.
imagine if steven universe became a gargantuan mass of interlinked brains
you could make the greatest intellect in the Universe, or someone who likes Crying Breakfast Friends far more than anyone else ever could
I've only ever seen one episode of Steven Universe and it was years and years ago. It was an episode where they were finding gems that were forcefully fused and all the characters were looking at it in horror. It was actually pretty cool looking back. That said, I was disappointed with the fight choreography and how uninspired it was, so I never bothered to watch another episode.
Does the show keep that dark tone or what? Is this worth watching? It has a big fanbase so there must be something to it.
The show honestly started off with darker moments sprinkled about that gradually became rarer as it progressed. The forced fusion was actually kind of on the light side of things compared to some stuff that happened earlier, but darker than a lot of what came later.
The show overall I think is worth watching. The fanbase overrates it and the hatebase dramatically overhates it. There are some bad episodes sprinkled about but now that you don't have to worry about hiatuses they don't stick out so badly. Just be advised that season 4 is a definite low point.
Does the fighting ever get better or more interesting or is that not really a focus of the show?
It's not really a focus of the show.
The first season had more monster-of-the-week fighting, bug around season two that was mostly dropped in favor or lore and character interaction.
There's still fighting here and there, but it's nowhere near the focus of the show.
