Toph Vs Gaara sucked because how obviously bullshit the result was. Also add on that it will probably be the only Death Battle Toph will ever get and it's really dissapointing.
Rogue VS Wonder Woman was also awful and pretty much boiled down to Wonder Woman losing because she exposes too much skin while ignoring that she way stronger, faster, and has access to weapons that wouldn't make her have to physically touch Rogue.

In terms of match-up/victory, probably Kirby vs Buu or Thor vs Raiden. Kirby vs Buu because while Kirby is surprisingly powerful he always needed outside help to be effective, while Buu was arguably his most dangerous without help at all. Not to mention they didn't give a legitimate excuse as to how Kirby could even kill Buu. Thor vs Raiden because it's such a clear difference in power even from surface level that it's sort of a joke.

From a behind the scenes/research level, Ben 10 vs Hal Jordan. No, I don't entirely care that Ben 10 lost or whatever. It's that the writers clearly ignored sources for both characters and made a composite version of one whole discarding the other. Plus the narrators didn't even know the winners until they began recording their lines which demonstrates at least a dip in how much they care for a show they seem to put so much time into.

The best one is obviously Goku v supes. But the worst one? Ryu v scorpion mabye? I will never understand why they feel the need to give some characters their most absolute ridiculous "you can never kill me" powers (scorpion, gannon, darkseid) and have that save them like thise powers have ever been used to win a fight.

People seem to forget that Buu, on top of al the magical abilities like turning people into candy, absorbing powers, and being a stretchy regenerating gum person, he also has all the standard ki shooting, blasty, superfast, superstrong powers. To a higher degree than everyone else.

The main threat was that he was just more powerful than everyone else in the setting. Not that he can turn people into shit on a whim. No one near his level really thought much of that.

Alan being weak to wood never went away. It was still a thing in 2010s JSA, and Earth-2 books after.

For me, it died with Ryu vs Scorpion. That last second-win was some hardcore bullshit that should've been prevented by their rules.

Personally though, I do think some people can be a little overly hard on this show. I think the mark of good episode is if it was a) funny/entertaining, b) the logic used to reach their conclusion is sound. For example, I think Goku would beat Superman, but since they thorough job explaining how they reached their conclusion I think it was fine. Seriously, doesn't anybody else think the community takes this stuff a little too seriously?

Then there is Gaara's sand speed. Gaara's sand moves faster than Rock Lee with his weights on. Even with Toph being able to see gaara's sand, she would have to react faster than Rock Lee to even defend herself and she has never been shown to out match Azula.

She doesn't really have to be, Gaara's sand armor means she knows where he is at all times. And Gaara's REACTION speed isn't all that great.

There is nothing to suggest that Toph could overpower Gaara's own control over sand, especially when he controls it in far greater quantity and has far more experience using sand specifically.

Toph's only win condition is to overwhelm Gaara and force him to use his sand armor, get close and turn his armor to stone and crush it. This is fine. Death Battle was right on this.

But the problem lies in the fact that

When he said he could increase it to 40, Goku seemed doubtful, and had to transform in order to light the weight. Goku's base from, at the start of the Buu Saga, could not lift 40 tons. They could have named literally ANY number, they CHOSE 40. That is the stat increase DB scaled Goku's previous feats off of, and since it's a feat he failed to accomplish, all of their scaling was too generous, all of Goku's final numbers should have been lower.

Want to hear another good one? Goku trained against his own body weight going to Namek. Goku's body weight in 100g's is 6 tons. That means his base strength, when he got to Namek, was 6 tons at most. Even being generous and saying that was without using ki to enhance his strength, that's fucking pathetic when you start comparing DB to other universes.
