A) Wasn't the reality stone enough to rewrite reality?
B) Why didn't he just replenish the universe's resources? Sure it would have to be done again at some point, but by that logic, shouldn't culling half the universe also need repeating?
Don't forget that, canonically, the snap wiped out "all life." That includes plants and animals. You know. Some of those resources he was so keen on preserving. His entire plan literally hinges on him doing something that actively works against his end goal. They really should have just made him have a boner for death like in the comics and leave it there. Would have made more sense.
Liam Cooper
better yet OP why not just order the infinity gauntlet to make organic reproduction 25% as efficient as it is now universe wide? I.E. make population growth a ton less efficient. so that atttrition shrinks the population of the universe painlessly.
>A) Wasn't the reality stone enough to rewrite reality? Only in the sense that it can generate an tangible illusion over reality. The true reality still exists underneath, and it will collapse once the Reality Stone is out of proximity. It's basically a D&D Major Illusion spell. Looks real, feels real, still isn't real. >B) Why didn't he just replenish the universe's resources? Because he is insane. Did you miss the "Mad Titan" part? He is obsessive and deluded, because the people of his homeworld didn't enact his solution to their overpopulation problem and his civilization collapsed for it. His mind went with that, now he sees overpopulation everywhere (nevermind that he halved a population already in dire underpopulation [Asgardians] and then halved every civilization he ever halved with his indiscriminate snap [including the Asgardians, again]). He just doesn't care. In his mind, he is right, and no evidence will ever dissuade him, because he is insane.
Owen Long
I dont understand how people think "giving resources" is a good answer. Have you idiots never heard of that "Give a man a fish" phrase?
Evan Williams
The Infinity Gauntlet is like the opposite of the monkey paw. It's not going to fuck you on a technicality.
Benjamin Foster
>A) Wasn't the reality stone enough to rewrite reality? Local reality, for a limited amount of time. And it's possible that without the mind and soul stones powerful beings and telepaths could see through it or reverse it.
Alexander Kelly
Fuck off dcuck. Endgame is still the best movie of all time.
Christian Young
dont forget the infinite resources
Luis Myers
Not to mention it would collapse every ecosystem
Justin James
This is literally something Kevin Feige confirmed happened. I think total collapse of every ecosystem is, frankly, just scratching the surface of how monumentally stupid this whole situation is.
Lincoln Cruz
source?
Luis Miller
Why do people even discuss this? The movies tried to adapt the comic, whether or not Thanos motives make sense without Lady Death around was irrelevant to the writers. They had to make something that: 1. Late 70s and 80s babies would vaguely remember from reading Starlins stuff years ago, to sell tickets 2. Would draw in the kids of those Gen X folks, to sell merch I don't know why youre wasting your energy poking holes in something that wasn't important to anyone involved in making this or its target audience Obviously they couldve made something that didn't have plot holes but then there goes the member berries
Eli Powell
The decisions Thanos makes aren’t supposed to make sense. He’s the “Mad Titan” because he’s an insane sociopath who thinks killing half the universe will save it because his home planets population didn’t listen to him.
That’s the whole point. Thanos is supposed to be this delusional war lord. I don’t understand why people have to constantly ask “why didn’t he just do X Y & Z instead”. You try and make sense out of people like Ed Kemper, Jeffrey Dahmer, or Son of Sam.
Ian Anderson
It's roughly divided between tards and baiters.
Ian Sanders
basically he chose the easy way of evening the scales.
Cooper Lopez
>Because he is insane. Did you miss the "Mad Titan" part? Why do people always make this excuse for bad writing? If Thanos is supposed to be mad than why does he act completely sane in literally every other aspect?
Brody Gonzalez
not all mad men act like maniacs.
Owen Garcia
>B) Why didn't he just replenish the universe's resources? Sure it would have to be done again at some point, but by that logic, shouldn't culling half the universe also need repeating?
His goal is that by culling half of life it'd bring a change of culture of the survivors, it's why he just decided to destroy everything in End Game when he saw people reacting differently from what he expected.
Gavin Walker
>He acts sane in every other aspect >>Almost every scene he's in he's talking about how he's right, or killing someone, or putting himself on a pedestal
Aaron Martin
Almost as if he's the MAD Titan. Sometimes insanity masks itself as intellect.
Carson Phillips
In what scene does Thanos seem like a perfectly sane and reasonable individual?
Brayden Lewis
>That includes plants and animals I know the Russoes said that's what happend, but that doesn't actually seem to be the case in Endgame
Alexander Davis
Most mad people aren't really able to manage a galaxy spanning operation or plan out all of things necessary to execute an extremely difficult and specific task such as creating the infinty guantlet. Fuck if Thanos is really that mad why the fuck would he even bother worrying about the effects of using the stones? Thanos is a Tyrant, but he's not insane apart from his stupid endgame.
Justin Mitchell
>Most mad people aren't really able to manage a galaxy spanning operation or plan out all of things necessary to execute an extremely difficult and specific task such as creating the infinty guantlet Almost everything Thanos accomplishes is done by brute force or giving orders to people super loyal to him, we never see him do anything requiring an incredibly clear head.
Brayden Bennett
daily reminder
kevin feige does nothing wrong
Adam Jackson
By that logic Ghengis Khan and Alexander the Great only accomplished their conquests from Brute Force and devoted followers. Running an army takes a lot more mental prowess than it does physical strength.
Henry Nelson
99% of Thanos' army were mindless drones, he just told one of his dudes to drop them on planets and be done with it, those who weren't drones sided with him out of being crazy loyal or fear.
Jason Brown
Thanos is space Tony. Negro's got delusions of grandeur and a messiah complex remember the grapeful universe part and "I'm the only one who cam do this ". Also it's hollywood madness, if they portrayed these guys like how they actually behaved most people wouldn't find them interesting. You gotta make them sophisticated and with a phd like Hanibal. Same shit with TDK's Joker.
William Martinez
there's a few cut scenes with widow raising birds to stay grounded, you sorta see it when scott goes to the window after hulk snaps everything back. the shutters open and he walks to a courtyard and you can hear them
while that is true both ghengis and alexander fought openly in battle and earned the respect of their troops and enemies
Jeremiah Brooks
The Ancient one says that removing just one stone from the flow of time would cause shit going down hardcore and the universe would be overrun by the forces of darkness, making millions suffer, yada yada yada. So, why did nothing really happen when Thanos destroyed all six of them?
