There is a style to it, is just being a troll.
The Calarts style is typified by thick outlines, bean mouth (yes, memes aside, it is a near-universal feature) and as few angles being used in character design as possible. Sharp angles are 'threatening' to children, so protagonists are usually drawn almost exclusively with round shapes with no sharp edges.

I like this one.
It could actually be close to as cheap to animate as the calarts style without being generic trash if you cut down on a bit more of the detail like the kneecap and elbow definition and maybe tossed the shadows.
I know it'd look worse, but that would likely make it nearly as cheap to animate.
