A psychotic, power hungry abusive mom gets a redemption

>a psychotic, power hungry abusive mom gets a redemption
>an evil space dictator waging war on a native people gets a redemption arc
>the victim of the aforementioned abusive mom's abuse who lost her best friend due to politics is the only irredeemable character
How did Noelle get away with this?

Catra's not irredeemable, and Shadow Weaver hasn't been redeemed

Because in the end redemption is a person choice one has to make. Unless Catra acts like she wants to be redeemed she never will.

Just because she's a victim of abuse doesn't mean that she isn't a horrible person. Besides, neither Shadow Weaver or Hordak got redemption arcs (yet).

this, Shadow Weaver helped the good guys but she's far from redeemed, and having a motivation doesn't suddenly make Hordak a good guy.

>second and third seasons are half the length of the first
it's gonna get cancelled before its done isnt it

it was one season that got released in two halves, Netflix does shit like that sometimes

No. The same thing happened with Voltron and all their episodes got aired.

why is airing cartoons so complicated now

Because Netflix ruined scheduling forever. Is it just me or are bomb formats becoming more common?

If I'm being honest, I'm pretty sure Shadow Weaver is the one least likely to get a redemption arc.

Hordak got screwed out of a possible redemption, but Shadow Weaver said it herself: She went to Brightmoon because she had no where else to go.

She's totally in it for herself, she's got her sights on corrupting Glimmer, and unless the takes a bullet for somebody, doubt she's getting out of this with a clean slate.

This is becoming a trend I seeing, Both in Star Vs And Ok KO you have the master mind behind the bad thing getting redeemed in some way while the lackey that got manipulated/indoctrinated into working for the badguy gets the shaft.

>>an evil space dictator waging war on a native people gets a redemption arc
What was his redemption arc though? He rejects the love of a good woman (because he is easily misled) while continuing to pursue the nebulous validation of his emperor

Thats just the modern day rental system in action
>Subscribe to Netflix
>Watch what show(s) you wanted, cancel sub
>Another show you like gets dropped
>Sub for a month, watch show, cancel sub
>repeat until death

It was even worse for Mina, since she's a homeless veteran with canon mental health issues.

>How did Noelle get away with this?
She can't write more than one villain being active at a time.

You are now noticing that, no matter what the circumstances, if one villain in this show is being proactive than the other two get shoved in the corner, without fail. She is so bad at writing villains, she put Hordak in time out for two 'seasons' and instantly sidelined Shadow Weaver when Catra got more active after the prison escape.

>Hordak got screwed out of a possible redemption
Not really. Hordak may have lost Entrapta, right now, but he'll find out the truth soon enough, because I think Scorpia's big show of character next season is her finally realizing Catra isn't her friend and that enabling Catra to hurt people around her, just to get what Catra herself wants, isn't what a friend should do.

Or Kyle 2 won't keep her mouth shut and say something at the wrong time to the wrong person.

It's a kid's show, it makes sense to limit the number of active plot threads when you're dealing with a young audience.

Voltron was all kinds of fucked up airing wise.

Morse code or random number generator? You decide!

>He rejects the love of a good woman (because he is easily misled) while continuing to pursue the nebulous validation of his emperor
Hordak didn't reject Entrapta, she was taken from him. And before Catr4a came back with the sword she was about to talk him out of opening a portal and just working on it, until it was perfect. (Which was impossible because without the sword a portal was never possible)

Entrapta was going to tell him not to open the portal, until Catra decided to stab her in the back.

Well Chip Damage literally got stripped of his free will, but Foxtail managed to keep her job and friends while him became a Bill Cosby metaphor and killed himself.

>She's totally in it for herself, she's got her sights on corrupting Glimmer, and unless the takes a bullet for somebody, doubt she's getting out of this with a clean slate.
At the point we're at now, she's more likely to succeed or almost succeed at corrupting Glimmer than she is to actually have a change to become good. Glimmer has already expressed frustration about how acting ethically can get in the way of the effectiveness of their resistance to the Horde. If Shadow-Weaver offers Glimmer an easy but dirty way to hurt the Horde, she's likely to take it.

didn't one of the creators say something like 'Catra is a good person deep down with a lot of darkness on top of it; Glimmer is the opposite'?

Season two and "three" are the exact same season, Netflix just halved season two. So while Shadow Weaver escaped and then worked with Bright Moon, Hordak was still leading the Horde.

The same thing happened in ATLA.

Catra kept making the wrong choices
every time she had a choice between salvation and being petty she chose being petty

>Season 1 finale
>Zuko and Zhao both attack, completely independent of each other and leading their own 'mission', and both accomplish their goals temporarily, each one having their own separate agenda they persue and work together.
>Season 2 finale
>Zuko and Azula team up and join forces
>Season 3 finale
>Every leader villain and hero is active and in combat

VS

>Season 1 finale
>Catra is the only leader active, Shadow Weaver is locked up and Hordak is diddling himself in his lab
>Season 2 finale
>Whacky antics with bow's daaadddsss! Whaooaaa!
>Season 3 finale
>Yet again, Catra is the only one active and both Shadow Weaver and Hordak do not participate in the finale in a meaningful way.

You might notice a slight difference.

This show is clearly trying to ape avatr but without any of the talent behind the previous show it fails.

I guess we'll see what happens next season. Adora and Catra's relationship is probably the biggest draw for this show.

Is She-Ra any good?
You were whining about the man-shoulders but other than that I haven't heard anything about it.

No

Its made by a bitter dyke who uses it to funnel her man hating tendencies in animated form. Besides its all just tumblr humor and shipping so its cancer nonetheless.

The animation isn't good, the plot is full of holes and barebones basic, and the world is 90 percent this one same forest.

But occasionally the characters act cute so if you're into that, all on you buddy.

It's more of a character show. The main draw are the characters and their interactions.

it's decent kid's entertainment. If you're the kind of person who can still get invested in a show clearly targeted at preteens, you'll probably enjoy it

It's okay, first few episodes after "pilot" somewhat boring, but it picks up at the prom

A lot of cartoons are trying or have tried to ape Avatar and have failed. ATLA has become the nemean lion of cartoons.

Shadow Weaver and Hordak contributed greatly towards the S3 finale.

During S2 Spoilers[spoilers]

>Catra is SiC of the Horde and while in that position she loses advanced bots/allows for the princesses to get a stronger advantage, gets captured by the enemy
>Hordak calls her out on her poor performance and threatens her to do better
>Catra is now out of a battalion because paperwork and logistics are different from battle
>asks for SW's help
>During this time Catra sees Entrapta actually being on good terms with Hordak
>SW can even see Catra being pushed away and uses that to her advantage
>Shadow Weaver manipulates Catra into giving her the Mysicor Badge with the magic dust
(during this episode the heroes discover a message by the First ones that has to do with Mara and Serenia)
>Shadow Weaver escapes and now Catra is in deep shit
>lies to Hordak about getting rid of her, until Imp rats her out
>Catra is last seen getting choked out
>SW is in Bright Moon
The gay dads tells that the serenia they're looking for is a constellation that's only seen in the Crimson Wastes

S3 starts right where S2 left
>Shadow Weaver is in Bright Moon and collapses at Adora's feet
>Catra is in lockup awaiting punishment
>Hordak (thanks to Entrapta trying to help one of her very few friends) sends Catra on a suicide mission to find First one's tech in the Crimson Wastes
>Catra goes to the CW and defeats gangs and gets respect
>SW is now in Bright Moon and telling them all she knows about the Horde and their plans on opening a portal to bring in the main Horde
>SW also tells Adora she's a First One who came through a portal
>Adora goes to Light Hope to get the truth about her origins and Light Hope tells her about Mara
>Adora now realizes she needs to go to the Wastes
>They go there to find out about Mara
Meanwhile Hordak and Entrapta keep building the portal, an integral plot point
>Adora finds out about what happened to Mara
[spoilers]

>The two teams meet up in the Wastes
>Scorpia tries to tell Catra to let it all go and stay in the Crimson Wastes, because she's happy here
>Adora is kidnapped and Catra discovers that Shadow Weaver escaped to Bright Moon, just to be with Adora
>Catra goes off the deep end and loses it and brings Adora and the Sword to the Fright Zone, to aide in Hordak's portal machine
>Glimmer and Bow go back to Bright Moon and Glimmer works with Shadow Weaver to help them get into the Fright Zone to get Adora back
>Shadow Weaver is more than happy to be the teacher to a powerful magic user
>SW and the gang get to the Fright Zone and SW nearly kills Catra
>Catra goes further into madness and goes on to attempt to create the biggest murder/suicide in history.
Legitimately speaking all the main characters, including the bad guys', actions contribute to the plot and are a piece of the larger puzzle. Things aren't slapped together and the gay dad episode you deride as just whacky antics brings in the big plot of S3, which is about the Crimson Wastes and Mara.

>thinking Catra won't be redeemed
>thinking SW will be redeemed
