I love RPG's, Fallout being one of my favorites, but I consider 4 more of a looter-shooter than an RPG. I tried 76 during it's free weekend; not going to lie, it was comfy just walking around Appalachia, especially since I live near there. Gameplay and story were still jokes, though
I hate calling things "reddit", but Outer Worlds looks like peak reddit with its lol random humor

That’s the whole point though, that the Familes are just tribals who House and also Benny told to stop being tribals and drop their culture and try on this new one. Though it’s not like a couple of years. Seven years is almost a decade.

With each new installment, Beth continues to prove that they don't understand what makes a Fallout game.

To be fair, the trailers for New Vegas were all "shooty-shooty, bang-bang" with quick clips of all the big set pieces like the ending of "Come Fly With Me". I hope The Outer Worlds is much of the same thing in that it throws the "Borderlands"-style humor out there to reel people in but the world is a lot deeper than that in actuality. I'm also a sucker for the retro-futuristic space western theme it has going on.

Yeah but New Vegas has a serious tone in all its trailers and the comedy occurred naturally in the story. This one is trying to be hee hee ha ha. They’re trying to lure people in because this is going to be a major part of the game. The aesthetic is pretty good though, not gonna lie.

Chance was ten shades of fucked and wasn’t able to function as a human being anymore, I think he needed to be put down anyway.

I wish Freeside was this populated in-game. Not even mods that add NPCs really capture the claustrophobic feeling this panel gives. Also, New Vegas in the comic looks infinitely better than the New Vegas we got.

I remember the last time someone did an All Roads storytime, someone suggested that there should have been little vignettes about the unique weapons you find in game.

I had the idea of something like Lucky belonging to a wasteland cowboy losing it in a fight with a powder gang leader in Primm, Golden Gloves belonging to the 2066 boxing champ and his last fight being some hyped-up propaganda prize fight, That Gun as it travels from wandering mercs to raiders to Cliff Brisco's shop, Greased Lighting belonging to a Kings member who takes the fight against raiders to his own hands, I could go on.

Lighter should have been a Regens or other vintage model

The whole settlement thing should have been saved for the endgame at best. It killed all those little towns and settlements with actual character that brought the setting to life.

I never really did much of the settlement stuff since i felt it was tacked on and boring. Every settlement just felt the same.
Although i did like the unique towns like Diamond City, Goodneighbor and the Far Harbor. Shame the rest was just so lacking.

Fallout 3 was good in their handling of the lore. The Pitt and Point Lookout were cool as fuck and the Capitol Wasteland was a great base map. I don't get the hate for 3, it was different but still stayed true to the heart of the series. Bethesdas knee jerk reactionary measures to the criticism in 4 and the half assed attempts to be more like the old games without understanding what made them good are what killed the franchise for me.

The major problem with 3 was it was like the other games, but only superficially. Sure it has all the Fallout things that people remember but tonally and storywise it’s got a few changes under the hood
