Lapis was only interesting when she was allowed to be a complicated morally grey character like during her debut and while fusion raping Jasper to lash out in anger over her imprisonment in the mirror, after Malachite the crewniverse didn't follow through on addressing her darker traits and were too lazy to develop relationships between her and the crystal gems. Since she didn't have any motives outside of self preservation and got thrown in the barn she just rotted away as a useless turd that shows up occasionally to remind you that she's sad and you should feel bad for her. Peridot never had that much going for her and wasn't given anything else to develop upon after being redeemed and pulling metal powers out of her ass. Neither of them had anything to do with the Pink Diamond drama that became the focus of the show after Bismuth and Earthlings which is why they stayed in the barn and were mostly absent from season three onwards.

After getting over her original hatred for the CGs offscreen and joining the CGs without any buildup, being forgiven by Peridot for running away with the barn and reconciling with her offscreen, and both of them becoming inseparable best friends with Bismuth offscreen, I can't think of much that can help with Lapis' lacking development besides her and Jasper getting closure for the shit that happened between them and flashbacks to her getting closer with everyone else? What is there left to do with Peridot? Aside from fusing because she's been made into asexual rep and that's never happening. Maybe there will be focus on them helping the healed corrupted gems and building little homeworld but how far can you go with that? Hopefully season 6 has plenty of new conflict to explore and isn't completely sol

Not in the show proper, and even then it's not out right "confirmed." Rebecca's hinted at it in tweets and interviews and there was that one page in the children's story book about fusing that said he's not interested. However nothing and no one has directly said Peridot doesn't want to fuse, much less in the show itself.
There's gonna be a total shit fit if Peri never fuses before the show ends and no in show explanation for it is only going to make it bigger.

She was liked up until it became clear she was forcing Lapidot. Her artstyle and sense of humor were unique among the other boarders and she did some of the better episodes during Peridot's redemption arc. Then Barnmates happened and it all went downhill from there. In hindsight, her episodes were either really good or controversial, with none of her Lapidot episodes falling into the former category.

Fuck Zuke she's the responsible of single handle derailing the series.

Spinel was a good character but suffered from turning too fast by Steven's talk no jutsu, facing zero consequences for trying to destroy the world, and a lazy sendoff. I appreciate her most for her negative reaction to Pink's heinous actions, the episodes following the plot twist lacked that from other characters. She has gotten such a positive reception partially because she has a unique inspiration behind her design and is more engaging and worthy of sympathy than the diamonds that the most recent episodes fumbled on

Pink had an extremely negative impact on Jasper's life and I expect her to feel just as hurt by Pink's betrayal as Spinel, she similarly won't accept what she did as easily, but aside from that she has other issues to face, like her inferiority complex and obsession with making up for failing her purpose, her shame over being from Earth, her residue corruption, her relationship with Lapis and her fusion dependency, her kinship with Amethyst. There is a lot of complexity to her internal conflict that Sugar has acknowledged and was established during her first arc, resolving it will need to be handled with care

She is already the show's best antagonist and is one of the few characters with a lot of development potential left, there's many ways it could go and many ways it could assist in Steven's own development. Her upcoming episodes will not only give her the chance to get satisfying closure but will also make up for all the disappointment in the handling of other characters. Imagine a Peridot redemption that doesn't end in barnification, a Lapis arc that doesn't leave everything important dropped or developed offscreen, Bismuth or Diamond redemptions that aren't rushed as hell. The demption in Jasperdemption refers more to the redeeming of these writing flaws than Jasper's own flaws

Everyone who isn't a Jasperfag now will be a Jasperfag during season 6. It will be ground breaking. Earth shattering. Universe imploding. Prepare yourself

I believe in the episode with Garnet it’s sort of implied Peridot isn’t ready or is saving her first fusion. It was really framed like a first time having sex with Peridot originally wanting her more experienced friend to help but in the end feeling she just wasn’t ready.

That story was written by Sugar so it counts as canon. Besides, there are other Peridots now. What if Squaridot is real and gets her fusion cherry popped before our Peridot? We will get to see a Peridot fusion one way or another.

They outright state this in the episode where Lapis leaves with the barn, and yet she's somehow the bad guy for taking the proper action when faced with impending doom, knowledge of which was apparently kept secret by Peridot because writers are retarded and have no interest in involving Lapis and Peridot in Steven's affairs until the last fucking minute.

Ruby and Sapphire both got over it in ten minutes and were only upset because they made a big deal over Rose possibly having a hidden agenda when encouraging them to stay fused, not over getting a bunch of crystal gems killed or any of the actual terrible shit she did, those episodes just reaffirmed their characters will never be fleshed out past being lesbians for each other, ignoring Garnet everyone else either didn't care or came to accept it easily too. Spinel's the first we've seen to really get angry at PD for what she did and act out on that anger, nobody tried to defend PD or make Spinel accept what she did to her by explaining that Pink was just shortsighted but always had good intentions, it's the first time Steven's truely acknowledged that Pink was an asshole.

They could have given episodes dedicated to interacting with the crystal gems. We had no resolution between Lapis and Pearl´s conflict. Pearl held her in the mirror for thousands of years and didn´t free her. They could have made a plot about that, but this is never addressed after Same Old World and Lapis befriends every CG off-screen.
She could have also done an episode with Garnet since she´s such a fusion freak. Garnet could be there to talk shit to Lapis for being part of Malachite and help her grow, but she said nothing.
Or make other episodes about Lapis. Mindful Education could have been about Lapis problems instead of Connie´s stupid issue that makes no sense.
There´s a lot that could have been done to make her less shit, but they didn´t do any of that because to put it simply, they didn´t want to write for Lapis. Her song was probably done for fanservice only.
