In honor of the upcoming MCU show announcement, I've decided to share this story with fellow Anons who may have only read Byrne's run (imo the best run of the character) and not her humble, but still fun origins. Expect lots of late 70's/early 80's Marvel cheesiness, but in a good way, of course.
>She-Hulk was created by Stan Lee, who wrote only the first issue, and was the last character he created for Marvel Comics until his return to comics with Ravage 2099 in 1992. The reason behind the character's creation had to do with the success of The Incredible Hulk (1977–82) and The Bionic Woman television series. Marvel was afraid that the show's executives might suddenly introduce a female version of the Hulk, as had been done with The Six Million Dollar Man, so Marvel decided to publish their own version of such a character to make sure that if a similar one showed up in the television series, Marvel would own the rights.
Luckily, in the 60s water pressure was measured in 'not enough' to 'take the paint off my car'

No relation. I thought it was a weird coincidence when I first read it too. I did a quick Google search and found nothing to support the two characters are related in any way. Come on, Stan. Think of other last names!
Thanks OP it'd be nice if the show used this as a template for the first season with a more Byrne quality temperament. Make it a full on prequel with a bruce on the run and being helped by his cousin and then this happens
>I've got evidence now to put you in jail! >I killed your mother!
First time I have seen two bees nests poking eachother.

100% agree. If they can adapt this story with an injection of Byrne style humor I think we'll have a good show on our hands. What do you think of the rumors of Ronda Rousey being cast?
I would need some sort of decently acted scene to be actually excited, but she does seem like a logical choice. Let's hope we get some crazy fight scenes

>Sees a rival and colleague being run down by She-Hulk >Chases after them I'm getting to like Bukowski. If nothing else, he's got brass.
According to wikipedia: >Johnson changed the name of the Hulk's comic book alter ego, Dr. Bruce Banner, to Dr. David Banner for the TV series. This change was made, according to Johnson, because he did not want the series to be perceived as a comic book series, so he wanted to change what he felt was a staple of comic books, and Stan Lee's comics in particular, that major characters frequently had alliterative names. According to both Stan Lee and Lou Ferrigno, it was also changed because CBS thought the name Bruce sounded "too gay-ish", a rationale that Ferrigno thought was "the most absurd, ridiculous thing [he had] ever heard". On the DVD commentary of the pilot, Johnson says that it was a way to honor his son David. "Bruce" ultimately became the TV Banner's middle name, as it had been in the comics.
Its telling how much Classic Marvel could tell in one page. Here we are told everything we need to know about Banner, he's highly intelligent, driven, headstrong, curios, selfless, but also mired by misfortune.
Holy shit this scene is amazing, imagine jumping into an elevator thinking you've escaped, only for it to not only stop but be PULLED by the creature you're trying to get away from.
I don't get how the idea spread that she started out being "savage" and unintelligent like the Hulk. If anything, the She-Hulk persona is pretty much the same as Jennifer Walters from the get go, and at most, she's written like she's getting an adrenaline rush and boosted strength, not going ape shit like the Hulk. I assumed she was going to be grunting or going "She-Hulk smash".
It's actually pretty common for Lawyers to be chummy with each other outside of the court room. One of the many, many reasons they're stereotyped as two faced.
So I guess that's it for this thread since it's near image limit (it's 250, right?)
Thank you, user.

I think new image limit is 300

I'm glad you enjoyed! She-Hulk is one of my favorite Marvel characters and it was fun. I'm getting a bit tired so I'll probably be calling it a night here but maybe I'll dump the rest tomorrow. Not like I got anywhere to be, after all.
