Seen some general complaints on other sites as to the Steven Universe movie being another 'weak willed villain gets broken by talking' plot. Anyone got a good idea for a villain with an indomitable will that makes sense for the setting? That doesn't just rip off the pic related.
And before someone says it, Pink Diamond doesn't count because she's already dead. We want a living villain.

The funny thing is, Steven Universe right now is in a place where they can grab their past mistakes and turn them into positives.
Everyone is mad about the Diamonds getting redeemed, and being forgiven for all their atrocious crime. Well, how about if we get a villain that leads a group of rebels against the Diamonds? Gems who were victims of the Diamonds reign of terror who are now treated as freaks for not accepting their apology. "They´re really, really sorry you guys, now let´s pretend the past 6000 years of misery didn´t happen"
What makes it even better is that it would put the heroes on the opposite side. The Crystal Gems, who used to be rebels, are now part of the "authority" and want to keep things exactly the way they are, and the new villains are the rebellion, opposing their lifestyle. You can make a great story out of that.
And to make them really unredeemable, make them hate Steven for who he is, not for being the son of Pink Diamond. Hate him for letting the Diamonds roam free, for all his stupid actions back in S1 that damaged gem technology/architecture, for being responsible of the armies disbanded.
SU has the potential to do a lot of cool stuff with great villains, but they´ll probably won´t do any of that. Everyone will live happily ever after and no villain will have consequences.

Something that is legitimately insane. Some sort of experiment or weapon system or what have you. Something you literally can't communicate or empathize with. No more than you could empathize with a chain saw or a weather satellite.
Jasper is also the only antagonist (and one of the few characters on the show in general) to face consequences

Here's a thought: The universe is a BIG fucking place, why don't they do what Halo did and introduce a new species, or some formidable alien entity that can't be fucking yeeted by Song and Dance? Like, it's nice that they sing and 16yo Steven has one HELLUVA voice, but they should include something that puts the diamonds at risk, or something that put's the whole earth at risk rather than "the whole earth."
Idk, I'm thinking like the Chitauri but for Steven Universe, so they could leave them selves open for future comics, movies, etc. Something that might zap the power out the gems, turning them into normies, forcing everyone to use their brains and will? Idk, just something to add MORE to the universe.
I wouldn't be opposed to doing a crossover with another show like the Generator Rex/Ben 10 crossover.
Look, I get that it is for Rebecca Sugar just an animated version of a hug box where she cna pretend that love and hugs will make everything better while telling a story that steals so many tropes overused in anime, it feels like Steven Universe is a "how to draw/write manga" book made into a legit show.

He did, just not all at once. Spinel stopped herself because she grew to like Steven and fighting him made her sad. He was shit with his words in the movie but his kindness still won her over in the end. It just had a delayed effect this time.

SU's setting is too childish for that, it would be like having an irredeemable supervillain in Paw Patrol. This is a show meant not to upset people or make them worry too much, you can't really suddenly switch to serious questions about people who won't change and have the power to defy our heroes wishes. Making one in general would be super easy, just introduce a general from the army sick of his planet getting fucked up or some kind of hidden force, but you just can't make that work in this world. Its made to be simple, its made not to make you think about anything after its done. You nod, move on, and then say something about how great the basic characters are. Even if she tried to introduce a real threat, no way could Sugar actually resolve it. Her biggest threats ever were beaten by kissing a lot and a sick burn, she just couldn't handle writing real danger.
