I'm not sold on this series really. The original series by Hastings was just a lot more "Real person in comic does and uses tropes and then reflects on the changes around her not being permanent and ergo losing those she has grown attached to is bound to happen as a writer switches and run changes."

It was a fun use of the tropes and traps of getting attached to characters only for writers to muck with it. Evil Gwen made sense, her powers were both fun without having to resort to "HAHA NOW WE JUST DO WEIRD PAGE STUFF TO MOVE STORY" around.

On a team Gwen doesn't make much sense. But this comic jut seems to be Meme references, haha have we mentioned I'm REAL AND IN A COMIC, I have to find a way to stay relevant! Despite the end of her initial run being about how that's not a huge deal.

They took one of these characters, the Deadpool version of Gwen and gave her a comic.
So while she has a different identity nowadays, anyone who thinks and says that she is a Gwen Stacy version of Deadpool are not wrong. That is what she is and what she was created as, and unless she somehow gets a different name and costume she will never escape that connection.
