Today's music is just an endless mish mash of everything that's always existed. People might say that's always been the case with music, but no, club rap hit a certain peak in the 00s, nu metal took the world by storm when it hit, grunge before it, the 80s was an exercise in experimentation and merging of international genres and influences, and so on before it. Now it's a million people sitting on their computer making electronic mixes of existing melodies and beats. It's not bad per se, but it's not blowing anyone's socks off.
