Cerebus has higher highs than Bone, but also way lower lows

No.

wait a minute, were they friends at some point?

Both very, very forgettable comics. I read both and can't recall what either of them were about. And that was only 4 years ago.

Yes

That's more of a problem with your memory than the books themselves

what happened between them?

They're two different stories and not really comparable, but I do agree with .

Yes, one of Bone's early chapters was published in Cerebus.
They had a really bad falling out.

Sim insulted Smith's wife, Smith told him to fuck off, Sim challenged him to a boxing match.

Dave went schizophenic and burned all his bridges

What was the main plot of Bone or Cerebus?

That sucks, does he still have any friends or is he just a loner now?

Around the time Sim's mental health worsened he began openly mocking Jeff Smith (despite Smith being a huge fan) and insulted his wife. Sim later challenged Smith to a boxing which never happened, but their friendship ended.

Dave started getting more and more vocal with the anti-women stuff

Bone is about three brothers who get tangled up in a war between a medieval style valley people and an ancient evil. Cerebus is so long and goes in so many directions it's hard to summarize.

He's doing somewhat better these days and seems to be reaching out to people more but most of the damage is done and his reputation is precedes him.
His latest attempt at going back to Cerebus isn't doing well, to say the least.

There's new issues? Didn't Cerebus become God or something?

How was the "Special Audio/Visual Digital Edition" of High Society?
and is it online anywhere

There's this

The download fails on completion but it's there.

He was doing "Cerebus in Hell?" which was four panel strips of cerebus photoshopped onto illustrations of Dante's inferno.

Read Cerebus a few years ago and recently read Bone. Didn't think Cerebus worked as a work as a whole or the volumes individually while I thought Bone worked very greatly as a whole. I admired Bone's world building and vision more than Cerebus', of course Sim just came up with shit as it went along.

I'm storytiming cerebus over at if any of you care.
