I agree with that assessment as well. I am a little angry, because nowadays anything that is satanic or raw/crude is automatically labeled as Black Metal, which in return makes me feel resentful towards BM. I also consider the term "first wave of BM" to be artificial. The first REAL wave of Black Metal happened in the 90s, when the bands were consciously trying to diverge from other genres of metal. In the 80s it was all Speed Metal

I'm listening Saint Vitus' demo when they were still called Tyrant.
I dont usually go for the "I cant believe this was made in year X" but I make exception here as I did not know many of their songs are from late 70s when Doom Metal and many other Metal genres were in their infancy.
Despite the low quality, Dave's raspy shouting, rather thin guitar sound and clickety-clack drums you can still hear the usual Doom sound and atmosphere.
Rather nice found along with Bedemon.
