I agree with you that Kreator deserves the credit. They certainly were one of the earliest Death Metal bands, which is brushed off. I don't like them being included on black metal lists, because it's pure revisionism. Same with Sodom

Their first two albums, especially the first one. Their second album gets the title of proto-Death Metal, but it's their debut that fits the genre better

They definitely aren't BM I'd agree, but lots of BM was influenced by them so stuff like Endless Pain had enough elements to contribute to first wave BM I guess.
