Villains who could never be the main baddie in a film

I'll start with an easy one

Nah, he could make a great Justice League or Suicide Squad movie villain.

WB would never allow it.

Considering they made Kaecilius the main baddie of the Dr. Strange movie, I honestly kind of feel like all bets are off.

If a villain doesn't currently fit the mold of main villain, directors or execs will just force them into the mold if they want to use them bad enough

Meh, you could probably make a movie with Rhino as the main baddie and Scorpion as his secondary antagonist partner. Sort of take inspiration from their banter in PS4 Spider-Man.

Someday.

If they ever built up a spider-man set of movies they could do this and make him both sad and terrifying.

Memes aside, he got more potential than Loki, Snyder is just a hack and couldn't make a fucking Superman movie work.

>he got more potential
I doubt it honestly. Even at his best, I can't think of any angle that wouldn't just be a poor man's Kalibak or Desaad.

I mean I'd watch it.

Actually, Mxy would be absolutely perfect as a main villain. It all comes down to whether or not WB actually embraces the weird, comic booky shit for Superman eventually. Meaning it's never going to happen sadly.

The fact that you seriously suggested Mxyzptlk could be a great Sqwad villain and not a Superman volume speaks volumes.

maybe in a comedy

>Actually, Mxy would be absolutely perfect as a main villain. It all comes down to whether or not WB actually embraces the weird, comic booky shit for Superman eventually. Meaning it's never going to happen sadly.

in a post-Shazam world, it could happen.

But Snyder has a story credit and producer credit on WW and Wan specifically cites showing him cuts of Aquaman and getting his feedback for Aquaman (going against the studio’s wishes)

Your image makes no sense. He also didnt write the three movies he directed, so if anyone is to blame its Goyer.

>memes aside
>posts a meme

RETARD ALERT

He could, but he would need a second villain to balance him out. Even in his first appearances he was secondary to Kingpin's operations.

Kaecilius was literally just Baron Mordo.

>First Justice League movie
>Starro or Despero would be perfect
>lol nah let's do Steppenwolf
Snyder is a retard.

>A general who hardly has any feats and is only ever under his master
>More potential than fucking Loki

What are you smoking.

It would never happen, but I'd like a Spider-Man movie series that focuses on Peter's relationship with his enemies, but not just "He knows Peter's secret identity" like every fucking movie.

Part of why I liked FFH is I felt like Beck legitimately didn't want to kill or even hurt Peter until it was necessary for his plan to continue unhindered. He just wanted the kid to go live a normal life.

Based, I would also watch a Sasquatch/Wendigo/Hulk fight set in Canada that introduces Wolverine

Out Fisk, explain the can't get out of the suit rule, and you're done, marvel combines had guys anyway. Act like you know.
Clark Kent it in reverse, WUUUT, SAMW GUY SURPRISE, DER!

>Do NOT pick a right with this GUY.
If you didn't hear the retro cadence/accent of Mixy in Eisenberg's Luthor I bet you didn't hear the cadence and accent of Tom Wilkinson 's Falcone on the Joker.

What a stupid thread.

Only newfags and companymen looking to steal ideas from threads say this shit.

Any character could be the second lead. Condiment King even. You just have to make the plot worthwhile. Almost no villains across all media matters, the story does.

>never allow it
Why?

If your answer is anything but marketability you're an idiot. Even at that point if you don't think a little elf who can tank almost anyone in capeshit at large is marketable you're likely, as I've alleged this thread was started by, a Warners employee. Audiences have proven to love small CGI characters.

This. The people ITT (Warners employees) are only really proving how uncreative they are.

Are you retarded?

But he was the main villain in 2004s Daredevil played by the wonderful Michael Clarke Duncan

Kaecilius was awful though

He isn't the main villain in that story, just a weapon/pawn. Though even then you could absolutely make him the main villain. Send him on a rampage; first act we meet him as he's rampaging and he gets away, second act he hits the hero at home, third act the hero triumphs in public a bit like Miller wrote.

You'd just have to change his motivation from taking orders to being sick of taking orders. Does it change the point of the character? Yes. But it's doable. Basically make him punisher but more blatantly about how the USA doesn't treat PTSD air retired soldiers properly.

Tbf he wasn't the "main" villain but at the same time he could easily have been better had he fought with strange. We could have gotten a fight like Thanos and Strange had but the Strange director seemed to be too inlove with the "Doctor" stitching the destruction porn back together like a wound and doing so without fighting.

It was really his impotence that undermined the character. While "a dark/evil world is my dream" is always paper thin he sold it well enough.

PTSD or retired*

Threads dying after this.

I expect to see this adapted within the next five years. Screenshot it.

The main villain of Justice League was Motherbox

No, it was Rotten Tomatoes

No that was the villain in BvS. They weren't nearly as critical as they should have been about JL.

Your point about Kaecilius just proves my point. They'll force a villain they want to use to be a different villain if they want to use them.
They'll never use Rhino in a spidey movie? They'll "reimagine" him by making him scorpion, or Eddie brock, or any other villain

not in a major film. but i could totally see him being a villain in those direct to dvd movie

I'd see Myx heading a movie before Rhino.

Let grant Morrison plot it and have Marcus and Mcfeely touch it up. That shit would be crack.

can I get a recommend for this, haven't read this run

You know, Jim Butcher did a story with Rhino and cousins of Morlun (this was before spider-verse mind you)

We got a real good characterization of Rhino. Who wanted to beat Spidey 'his way', rather then the cheating way that Pete does.

Don't forget Aquaman too.

>we live in an era where we got a comic book accurate Ocean Master villain an an Aquaman movie
>complete with the costume and everything

What a world.

Think there would have been backlash if they hadn't?

I mean, does Aquaman and by extension OM have enough fans for that?

>Think there would have been backlash if they hadn't?
>I mean, does Aquaman and by extension OM have enough fans for that?
There would be backlash but only from diehard Aquaman fans, of which there really aren't that many compared to the masses. Which is why I really think the Aquaman movie actually took a few risks.

No, just look at Momoa. Wilson looks like a perfect Aquaman. To the point that it almost seemed like Wan having DCEU aquaman fight the original version. Meanwhile Momoa looks like a man who could've played Aqualad ten/fifteen years ago. And yet mostly nobody cares.

The Rhino is such an easy one.

>blag blah blah OSCORP is doing a super soldier serum and nano tech enhancement program.
> being the unethical shady fucks they are. They get equally shady fucks as test subjects.
> kill, maim, cripple all but one. Who is some muscle for a NYC crime lord.
> it works really well and then too well. The nanomachines(son) fuse with him.
> he goes a wee mad with power and slaughters his way out of the lab
> JJJ calls him the rhino. Because grey and charges through things. He likes it and the suit responds to his will and gives him the rhino head.
>kingpin doesn't like this at all. As the rhino is bad for business. Teams up with spiderman in a enemy of my enemy is my friend.
>kingpin baits the rhino
>kingpin resources and spiderman strength manage to neutralize the rhino
>rhino gets put away in deep hole and blasted with EM waves to suppress the nanomachines.
>oscorp is still the unknown creator of it all. Gets contract to run rhino's prison and separate man from machine
>rhino returns in another movie.

>Villains who could never be the main baddie in a film
The MCU used Aldrich Killian, Darren Cross, Alexander Pierce (not even a villain in the comics), Kaecilius, and Yon-Rogg as the main villains. Venom used Riot. DC used Steppenwolf. A number of movies used OC villains. Any argument you can make against using any villain is invalid.

>Venom used Riot
Well does Venom have any other villain besides the LF and Carnage?

Doesn't really sound like a Rhino movie though. More like a general spidey movie that happens to have him as a major fight.

Lemme try...

>Rhino's done taking orders. All he does is gather a bunch of villains and thugs who were also fed up with getting beaten constantly. He assembles a MASSIVE gang. He has no schemes and no plots. He's in it for money and glory.
>People know he's too straightforward to be an ass about it. They join him en-masse. Rhino's propaganda revolves around making crime like in the 'good old days'.
>This is is exactly what makes this incarnation of him terrifying. If he hates you, he'll go after you, and you'll probably lose to sheer force/numbers. He won't spare you.
>Rhino begins his crime spree, displaying his style. Spiderman fights him and wins, but loses when his subordinates overwhelm him, forcing a retreat.
>After crushing some minor pawns, Kingpin begins to genuinely fear for his life, hiring several other villains as well as getting Spiderman on the case.
>Cue the city freaking out while Rhino and co. pillage stuff. This is where you put some plot point about him stealing tech for an updated suit.
>Meanwhile Kingpin, Spidey and a bunch of other guys are basically in a bunker, waiting for the inevitable.
>Big-ass fight between both sides occurs in the middle of the night. While Kingpin's forces and Rhino's gang battle it out, it becomes obvious the latter is winning.
>Spidey and Fisk realize what they have to do. They plow through his men and start fighting the big guy himself.
>Suit makes him FUCKIN INVINCIBLE™ at first. After taking some punches, Kingpin starts holding him off while Spidey manages to sabotage the suit.
>Most of Rhino's men are captured. Some escape. They're sent to jail.
>Final scene reveals that he's probably getting broken out by the escapees

Yeah, way!

Every Spidey villain could be the main baddie. You just have to bullshit some deeper reason than "evil scientist wants to rob banks" like the best Spider-Man movies (2 and HM) did.

based strokeanon

That's good, Justice League was a lot better than BvS.

Arcade

Both are terrible

Momoa should’ve been Lobo

>tfw you're Beck

There are plenty of one-time villains from all the minis he had in the 1990s. But even accepting that Venom would fight another symbiote, Riot was one of the more obscure choices.

Sorry for the late reply. This is from Webspinners: Tales of Spider-Man. Once you get past the artstyle, it's pretty good. The first few issues give a really good look at Quentin Beck and his character.

same

The White Man will always be the main baddie of any film Killmonger shows up in
