I have started making comics as a way to change society. This is the first one in English.
It is about the narcissistic insanity that is dominating Sweden and the rest of the west right now. It is called "Sverigebilden" (the national self-image of Sweden).
A lot of the stuff in the comic is probably hard to understand for outsiders, but you can be sure it is insane.
But please ask if there is anything you want to know more about.
I don't know enough about your nation's situation to speak on the accuracy of this comic, but I think it's important that you and other artists look at the world you live in and critique it accordingly. For that, I appreciate this, even though someone might claim you're being needlessly political or that your politics are abominable.
Bentley Flores
>even though someone might claim you're being needlessly political or that your politics are abominable. Why don't you have the guts to just tell the guy that's what you think?
Ayden Hernandez
Delete this propaganda
Lucas Myers
Based Sven. Don't let the Tumblr rapefugees get (you) down.
Aww thought you'd be story timing Lilla Fridolf or 91:an or something, not some black and white pretentious shit.
Zachary Powell
>just some clown world comic Wow, really daring material you got here. Left is right, right is wrong, etc etc, unbeaten ground here, folks. Here's the thing, if you're going to get political, at least try and offer actual insight beyond tired memes about "society" (which is merely the most pedestrian observations you can make based on online bubble discourse). This stuff is what you'd find on any extremely loner teenager who wants to get back at his parents for grounding him after using slurs at dinner. Absolutely no depth. My advice is, if you wanna make a comic like this, at least spruce it up with fake conspiracy stuff, nutty nonsense in the vein of Foucault's Pendulum, maybe that way you can fool people into thinking you got something going here, like the QAnon bullshit. As it stands, this is not smart and the few enablers you'll get applauding this crap aren't being honest with you.
Zachary Gutierrez
Aesthetically this is pretty alright, there's not a loft of craftsmanship to speak of, but you're using the comic medium pretty effectively. I don't think this is a sweden only thing, the part in could very well apply to mexicans in the US. I say this as a hispanic, the subversion of immigration just humiliates poor people into being second class citizens. It's not something that should be protected, but that's besides the point.
Anyway, OP, Your effort's commendable, but is actually right in that this is propaganda. That's not abnormal, a lot of art is propaganda. I think any art with conviction is inherently going to be biased by the author and become propaganda for one world view. I think if you really want to accomplish something, though, you want to make better propaganda. Try to make more of an original story, notes from the underground/1984 sort of stuff. You'll have more room to explore ideas more fully without immediately inflaming people. Try to comment on broader subjects than just culture war stuff, though, maybe cut to a deeper core about what you think about society.
On a side note, while this comic's more literary than illustrative, I suggest improving on your craft. Maybe get a camera and do some original photography, or find a like minded artist to collaborate with (they exist). It never hurts to make the presentation of your story better. Get an english editor, and you just might be able to say stuff no one else is willing to.
Don't let anti-art puritans get you down. You've got people rooting for you.
Because I genuinely don't. Even if he is far-right, I think someone else is more likely to get offended than I am. I admit I'm a bit wibbly-wobbly on politics, but I'm not willing to discount someone's genuine political discourse. Everyone has a reason for holding the opinion they do, and I'm finding the status quo of 'shut up and accept it' less and less appealing myself. I'm not far-right, but I'm more conservative than I once was.
Bentley Miller
>turn your art into a laughable, easily side stepped conspiracy pot > the few enablers you'll get applauding this crap aren't being honest with you
You're the most repulsive kind of censor. The kind that sabotages other people and convinces themselves they're being good. You've provided nothing constructive, and carry yourself with unearned authority over someone's genuine, if clumsy, first attempt at storytelling. You're the kind of person that utterly snuffs out potentiality to make yourself feel smarter, and in your masturbatory neurotic attitude all you've done is try to tear someone down with half truths.
LMAO at this guy. Throw me your monocle next time, will ya? I'm not trying to censor him, I'm calling him a teenage propagandist with zero real insight of the world beyond the shit he reads in here daily. No one, not me in particular, is stopping him from posting his rag. >You're the kind of person that utterly snuffs out potentiality to make yourself feel smarter, and in your masturbatory neurotic attitude all you've done is try to tear someone down with half truths. More like I'm trying to encourage him to develop beyond this pigsty, but since you approve of what he has to say, you don't even notice that it's not just clumsy, it's delusion. And not even the kind of delusion that brings creativity but rather the one that feeds itself and why I warned him not to fall for those applauding this. Would rather be harsh and tell him to read more, to study more, to push beyond the envelope, than encourage bad stories that say nothing of substance. Even a well told lie is preferable to the puddle-deep, trite bullshit of your average 4channer.
Jason Hughes
>Even a well told lie is preferable And there it is. That's all you people want, you want artists to not rock the boat and make pretty lies. You don't care about his growth, you don't give a shit about him expressing himself. All you give a shit about is that he tow the same tired, scripted lines that make you comfortable, stuff that's "acceptable" and "proper" like the little neo victorian you are. You're a two faced slimebag and if OP's got an ounce of dignity for what he believes in he'll ignore slimebags like you.
Hahaha, okay. >Would rather be harsh and tell him to read more, to study more, to push beyond the envelope, than encourage bad stories that say nothing of substance. Meanwhile... >"You don't care about his growth, you don't give a shit about him expressing himself." Wah wah wah, you're probably a kid like him, trying to dress up lazy propaganda as "artistic expression". Maybe you're actually him defending himself and his clown world shit too, who knows? One thing's certain, your ignorant nonsense is not really worth engaging further, sounds to me you got some stake in this, but I don't... I said my piece.
Nathaniel Martinez
rightists are evil
Joseph Roberts
>OP will end up committing mass murder >the media will blame Yea Forums for tolerating this kind of threads >CloudFlare kills the site
wahh wahh he say mean thing about thing I like therefore he say mean thing about me
Jack Campbell
Good
Kayden Ross
From my point of view the leftists are evil.
Jaxon Foster
rightists don't deserve to express themselves
Benjamin Allen
Well you're wrong. rightists are obviously evil.
Zachary Howard
We are living in a society! Gamers rise up!
Liam Campbell
It's shit either way, dude. He's just telling you how to make it at least somewhat readable.
Wyatt Ortiz
>you want artists to not rock the boat and make pretty lies It's called fiction. I thought you guys had a thing for aesthetics anyway? What do you care about pushing boundaries all of a sudden, and why is it always about immigrants?
Owen Bailey
They're racists
Bentley Edwards
>I'm going to change society by saying the same forced memes that every other right-winger says
don't let yourself be discouraged, OP. i don't necessarily agree on your politics and i don't know much about Sweden. i see this kind of self-image being prevalent in Germany too, though. Keep creating stuff!
Christian Torres
You forgot to include any actual examples of the Left being hypocritical, any examples of them discriminating against one group while trying to help another, or examples of them practicing what they preach against.
It's so obvious in your head that the Left is Pure Evil that you forgot to explain WHY, and all you ended up producing is >the Left is bad because they want us to be kind to others, help out the less fortunate, and strive towards equality!
You ended up producing a comic that works as propaganda FOR the Left.
Matthew Robinson
Yeah I'm actually wondering if this isn't just a leftist satirizing right-wing talking points
Mason Martinez
Absolutely Based.
Jack Long
Here's my prediction: It's a genuine right-winger who will pretend to be a fake right-winger when he finally realizes how much his comic sucks.
Liam Wright
You are wrong. rightists are not morally equivalent.
Ryder Edwards
That is equally plausible
Justin Perez
rightists are traitors.
Jaxson Wood
Yes, I support the left and their fully morally justified cause of replacing all white people in the world with whatever immigrants from poor non-white countries. They don't give a shit about things like feminism and LGBT rights and environmentalism, but at least there will be no more white people and thus utopia will be achieved.
Xavier Gonzalez
More rightist bullshit. Not like we didn't have enough of that on this site already. Fuck off.
Jack Morales
>Yes, I support the left and their fully morally justified cause of replacing all white people in the world with whatever immigrants from poor non-white countries. Gee, I wonder why right-wingers keep getting called racist morons
>the Left is bad because they want us to be kind to others, help out the less fortunate, and strive towards equality!
Didn't he make a point about how that's just human trafficking though? He didn't substantiate it, but that's a legitimate point/
Wyatt Cooper
That's all fake, retard. Rightists don't have morals.
Kevin Scott
Cool beans. Will read.
Brayden Russell
>He didn't substantiate it Then he didn't make a point.
Camden Powell
Cringe
Joshua Martin
You can make a point without substantiating it, it just makes it a poorly substantiated point that's easier to take down. Like, you can make a point about climate change as a talking point in a conversation about industrialism, and wether you ellaborate on it or not doesn't take away from the fact that you're making that a point.
Evan Ortiz
Free speech was a mistake.
Henry Green
>I have started making comics as a way to change society.
So can anyone give me an actual reason for why Yea Forums is the odd one out when it comes to Yea Forums political culture? Every other board seems pretty libertarian, but Yea Forums's the only one I'd describe as firmly leftist and hostile against right wing stuff.
No judgement, but why is that?
Christopher Long
Yes, okay. Any right-winger who claims that they give a shit about society is an obvious liar, as shown by the fact that they keep voting for right-wing politicians who deny the existence of anthropogenic global climate change, or right-wing politicians who claim that nothing can be done about it so we shouldn't even bother trying.
Good thing I don't have to elaborate on that.
Brayden Harris
In all seriousness, what's wrong with that? Comics are pretty lucrative these days and get in a lot of peoples' hands, how come people think that specific sort of art can't inspire some social change?
John Morris
We actually stand our ground. Fuck rightists.
Isaiah Powell
S O C I E T Y O C I E T Y
Thomas Hughes
It's hate propaganda. Don't be intentionally retarded.
Lincoln Sullivan
>You can make a point without substantiating it No.
Hunter Bell
This site hasn't been libertarian for almost a decade, there are a lot of outright reactionary and right authoritarian tendencies on here now that all but define many of the boards. Of course recently there has been more of a backlash against them, mostly because after becoming more and more powerful people have actually started seeing the consequences of rightist politics but I'd argue that the authoritarian right is still pretty strong on most boards.
Yea Forums has always been relatively chill and it still is and has always resisted being colonized by rightist ideologues like for example Yea Forums did.
Jaxon Mitchell
Dial back, man, I agree with you. But why can't you give someone else that same benefit of the doubt when it comes to inhumane treatment of immigrants from a different perspective other than "we need to let them all in so businesses can abuse them, but we'll call it justice"?
Isaac Rodriguez
We're not talking about OP's comic. I just don't get why you'd have that sentiment on a board full of people who talk about comics.
Samuel Garcia
The primary content of American comics is sexy, sweaty, muscular men flinging their bodies at each other and having relationship drama. Before the arrival of normies with Marvel Phase I, a large proportion of Yea Forums's original population was homosexualists and fujoshi. We'd come on Yea Forums and joke about how Yea Forums's population was entirely female (with posts like "Boys on the Internet? Impossible. NOW GET BACK IN THE GARAGE AND FIX MY CAR!") We even used to be allies with Scans_Daily (the original one, not the abomination you see now).
Obviously the demographics have changed and Yea Forums is all straight white men (or people who claim to be), but a certain element of that original flavor remains behind.
Evan Lopez
So what you're saying is Yea Forums is full of white men that hate themselves?
Caleb Ortiz
Every board is full of people who hate themselves. I see no reason to single out Yea Forums.
Connor Rogers
>Calling a photo collage a comic.
Let's not go overboard on craftsmanship here.
Andrew Cruz
>"Boys on the Internet? Impossible. NOW GET BACK IN THE GARAGE AND FIX MY CAR!" Fucking cringe, dude.
Adam Martin
Yea Forums always had tons of faggots and women, but the big change, this whole "rightists" spam you see is a recent thing. Tumblr got bought over by Yahoo around a year back and they banned porn. Lots of drawfags had blogs there, and most comic blogs I followed mentioned Yea Forums once or twice. Then you have r34, the boorus and whatnot, which got reposted on Tumblr. So there's a lot of crossposting between Yea Forums, Tumblr and those sites. Basically it comes down to porn. Anyway, a whole lot of landwhales came here after the Tumblr shutdown. You can see the change in faggotry and it's clear as day. Two years back you could have a "pitch a book" thread and it'd hit bump limit. A year back maybe you'd get it to 100 replies if there wasn't another such thread for a month or so. Nowadays you can't even get a "non-Yea Forums villains perfect for capes" thread going. The whole brainstorming aspect has been shut down, because Yea Forumsmblr just wants to talk about porn, faggotry and leftism. >inb4 Yea Forums was always love you fucking incel Yeah, yeah, whatever.
Good, I'm glad you feel that way. The Yea Forums of over a decade ago was better at keeping normies like you away.
Juan Nelson
>Nowadays you can't even get a "non-Yea Forums villains perfect for capes" thread going. That's a good thing.
Imagine being so cucked by other media that you come to Yea Forums in order to discuss non-Yea Forums franchises.
Austin Brooks
>cheesey joke about no girls on the internet (epic XD) >not the normiest shit ever I bet you're the faggot making all the Legion of Larping threads after all these years.
Joshua Collins
Libertarianism at its core is a philosophy that states "I matter more than you" (or, more generously, "My needs matter to me and yours don't.")
This notion is irreconcilable with the core conceit of Superheroes as a very concept, which is "People with power helping the helpless."
Jeremiah Sanders
I've noticed this, Yea Forums seems so hostile to anyone sharing stuff on here if they're not some blue checkmark they can circlejerk over. Even then you see constant eceleb threads with obnoxious, annoying, catty gossip that talks shit about them in closed doors.
Women are fine, there were always a couple more broads on Yea Forums than the rest of the boards, the problem is we got infested with thots and bitches, man.
Logan Long
Vigilantism is inherently authoritarianism. The Italian Fascists were literally criticized as being brutish vigilantes. There's absolutely nothing left leaning about superheroes, but nothing specifically right wing either. They're just authoritarian.
Julian Lee
I hope your countrymen get irrationally angry over this. Don't die in a grenade attack!
Xavier King
>it's racism if you don't want to get replaced
>because we want to replace all whites, it means the right doesn't have morals
I like this. But I wish it was drawn by your hand and not filtered photograph
Joshua Hernandez
THESE THREADS ARE KABUKI THEATRE COORDINATED BY RIGHTIST DISCORDS
Ayden Wright
Some constructive criticism: Tighten up your script a bit, dont be afraid to even remove one of the first three pages or at least stretch it out a bit. You sound a bit repetitive, which can cause people to tune out after the second page because you dont get to the meat until the fourth page. Also work on the voice of your script so its more unique, less quoted memes and strong statements and langage that is more uniquely your own.
Juan Williams
thanks.
Andrew Morris
>at least try and offer actual insight beyond tired memes about "society" I know what you mean. But the problem is that this isn't tired and obvious stuff for most people.
What I try to do is to describe how we feel and help people express those feelings. Most people have a hard time putting their feelings into words.
Adam Brown
>could very well apply to mexicans in the US. Yes it is a western thing in general. But my insights are mostly from Sweden and I dare to guess that we are worst in this regard.
American regressive left is more violent probably and there is more conflict, but that is probably because that there is a real opposition still.
Asher King
>I suggest improving on your craft. Maybe get a camera and do some original photography, Yes. I can't draw so I have to use what I find online. That limits my ability to tell stories. It becomes more like a informative picture book than a comic.
Jack Adams
thanks. I know that kind. It is part of the problem that some people have a need to defend the establishment in order to sustain there self-image.
Evan Harris
Nah. I am a pretty nice guy desu. :)
Jaxson Hall
Thanks. And I won't be discouraged. I know how Yea Forums works. The anonymity makes the communication somewhat dehumanizing and it becomes an easy way to ventilate some hate at random anons.
John Sullivan
It is a complicated subject. This comic is more about helping people express their feelings and putting it into words.
I am not sure how you read that part into the comic. Most of the politicians pictured in the comic is to the left, yes, but this problem can be blamed on both camps.
The comic isn't against the left or collectivism, it is a critic of the regressive and retarded culture we live in.
James Williams
I am well aware of my limitations.
Samuel Reed
I always hated photo comics, so unpleasant to see. You should have hired an artist.
Justin Russell
I wish that too. But I can't draw. I am trying to learn but I am too bad to even see how I could improve. Drawings are like magic to me.
Jason Jones
Well you're a talentless shill. You're comic is fucking stupid and ugly.
Jacob Edwards
Thanks. I know what you mean. The problem with repetitiveness is a bit worse since the "art" don't have any dynamic.
I absolutely have to learn to write tighter with a clearer purpose. The voice part is hopefully something that comes with time.
Brody Peterson
this and translate swedish phrases like the placards being held by the protestors, how is your audience supposed to understand what you're even talking about
William Rivera
Are you trying to provoke me, user? :) Don't be like that. :)
Eli Hill
Yes. You are right. This was mostly an attempt to see if the result would be different when I wrote in English. In the future I will have a more international audience in mind.
Aaron Taylor
You need to not be a dumb piece of shit first
Colton Rogers
Your comic is garbage. You're being intentionally retarded.
Luis Richardson
Fuck off, incel
Nicholas Ortiz

He should actually stop being a dog fucker first
Christian Rodriguez
You know you're just getting your posts hidden by people who don't care, right?
>a "we live in a society" clown meme comic made of photographs ran through a shitty filter in GIMP The average person looks at art work all the time and thinks "oh well I could do that" this is very good evidence that no you can't.
Evan Campbell
Rightists aren't people. They're goblins.
Xavier Jones
Sad that the trolls come to spam the thread like this. I have a feeling it is because they lack arguments and have to sabotage discussions.
If I were in their shoes, I would stop and think how come I can't come up with any reason for my beliefs.
This. People who don't agree with me should be killed.
Carter Gomez
rightists are not morally equivalent. They are traitors that don't deserve an American life.
Charles Davis
Agreed. I like the style and that you're approaching the current political/social situation, even though I'm not that knowledgeable of what's happening in Sweden specifically. The commentary seems a little banal and superficial, but as a starting point/introduction to more complex ideas it's absolutely fine. I'd definitely read more, particularly if it went more in-depth as it progressed. Good work and it has potential. Keep it up.
Parker Nguyen
The right is morally superior to the left. Cope.
Chase Lopez
This thread is more civil than I would have expected. (with the exception of those one or two guys with the exact same posting style) Not bad despite Yea Forums's reputation of being SJW-lite.
Matthew Morgan
It looks awful and is obvious propaganda
Jace Ross
rightists have no morals. They are shills and traitors.
Elijah Ward
Be smarter and make an actual comic. Don't just use photos and GIMP. Don't just rant about things that are happening and going "isn't this silly", use literary techniques like allegory or even just irony. Take this part seriously, the only reason anyone on here is giving any praise is because the message aligns with their political ideals.
Ryder Murphy
It's not that Yea Forums is a bunch of leftists, it's that other popular boards like Yea Forums, /pol/, and Yea Forums are so far to the right that trying to have any political discussion is essentially pointless.
