It's not just that Warren is familiar with the tropes, but his art style does straight up look like manga. Obviously more on the cartoony side, but authentic, if that's the word.

Augie De Blieck was one of those columnists at old CBR that lost his platform when they closed the extra blogs so they could streamline the site... and focus 99% more on extraneous shit like movies, TV shows and video games that have nothing to do with comics.

There is an element of that to the Transformers fandom, but more because they keep making Optimuses in like every scale in every toyline, like he was Batman.

It started off pretty well but I think it was overambitious which resulted in a glacial pace, the Authority characters took over as we knew they would, and all the good antagonists got unceremoniously iced in the last issue

Something I particularly enjoy about the Warren issues is that he noticeably writes the characters as being smarter. A lot of Gen13 writers tend to exaggerate their negative traits to the point where they become unintentional parodies of themselves. Warren writes them more as if they're just average people, which is greatly appreciated, frankly.

If this comic came out today, instead of a whole list he would've just said "feet"
