Peaked at Rock n Roll Nightclub, everything else was fine up until Salsd Days
Brayden Phillips
He was boycotted when he said funk music is garbage.
Henry Taylor
Literally he just dropped a forgettable album and stepped away from the public gaze a bit
It's not that deep
Michael White
He became aware of the fact that people were getting sick and tired of hearing the same bullshit from him so he stopped.
It's not that deep, OP.
Christian Flores
>Peaked at Rock n Roll Nightclub
*yin yang
Gavin Fisher
His music stopped being "chill" and "aesthetic" which was the reason why he had a trendy zoomer/hipster/indie girl fanbase in the first place. They thought his music was vibey and wavey and totally sick brah so they werent into the stripped down acoustic slow paced sounds as much as his wonky guitar/synth stuff
Austin Jackson
People have been silently canceling him due to that instance where he filmed his friend masturbating at a party “THAT HECKING MINORS WERE AT!!”. So Mac has been a lot more lowkey so as not to awaken the Twitter mobs.
Julian Collins
Smoking cigarettes isn’t a talent
Jeremiah Gomez
when every dipshit in seattle tried dressing like him around 2015-18 jfc all the fags in dad hats, overalls, carharts, ironic marlboro denim jackets. im glad its over
Julian White
They did that here too. I fucked some girl who dressed like that at my college.
Cameron Watson
>indie flavor of the month pushed by fantano and pitchfork
you tell me
Jack Jenkins
he's smelly
untalented
and an open homosexual
Josiah Ward
...
Xavier Brown
>indie flavor of the month
He's literally the dude that invented the flavor. This is like throwing some cocoa beans down your gullet and saying "wtf?? this just tastes like chocolate lmao"
Jaxon Baker
You hit "Post"
Jace Russell
naw. ariel pink invented it.
Jose Edwards
>living in seattle after 2010
Jacob Thompson
Oh man suddenly I respect this guy a lot more. Funk music is maximalist trash and funk guitar is viciously boring in spite of its technicality
Isaac James
If you think Ariel Pink invented it, might as well say R Stevie Moore invented it
Camden Wright
he inspired a whole generation of copycats and stepped away from the public. what the fuck would u do n his situation?
Noah Watson
plus he was making music for over 13 years with 10 of them being in the spotlight, give the guy a fucking break
Elijah Cooper
>He's literally the dude that invented the flavor.
kek. listen more music if you think that
Jacob Smith
I really enjoy salad days and this old dog, I suspect he just doesn't have the range or inspiration to create anything substantially different.
Blake Gutierrez
Nothing went wrong, despite being widely imitated he is still the best of the style that he popularized, and continues doing the music he wants to do on his own terms… very based shit
Nicholas Morgan
he'll be fine
Justin Phillips
His music was weak and couldnt sustain him once he outgrew the goofball persona
Jason Roberts
he didnt invent shit except the excessive distasteful use of vibrato pedals
Andrew Edwards
if you think R Stevie Moore invented it, might as well say Cleaners From Venus invented it
David Wood
>10M monthly listeners on Spotify
He's literally never been that popular before, what are you on about
Angel Morales
Self-publishing was a mistake. Nobody to hold him accountable or do proper quality control
Jose Peterson
I know so many people who started smoking because of Mac
Benjamin Garcia
is it tinfoil to think the guy was getting paid by cig companies?
youtube.com
Hunter Sanchez
That's just how canadian hipsters dressed at the time. It's value village chic.
T. Grew up in Vancouver
Joshua Richardson
Least he doesnt have to do a slew of media appearances and tour relentlessly anymore
Angel Ortiz
Same. People who based their entire identity off the guy
Henry Cook
Julian Stewart
Connan Mockasin invented that sound you clueless zoomer
Aaron Parker
Stevie was doing this thing way before the Cleaners tho
Blake Smith
ironic since this guy is ripping off Sam Hyde
Liam Morales
RIP in peace cancer merchant
Jace Ortiz
he needs to be more active. His last album was good.
Joshua Gomez
bumpa
Levi Foster
Nothing went wrong, no matter what his fans were like what matters is his music has always been genuine and very good. Here Comes the Cowboy was not as good as his other stuff but maybe he'll come out with a new album one day. Everything he's made shows great talent and artistic vision on top of being a funny and relatable guy.
Alexander Bailey
George Harrison is their granddaddy
Michael Ortiz
Nothing, it all went according to plan. He got a generation hooked on cigarettes as a favour for his buddies at the masonic lodge and now he's set for life.
Cameron Martin
the world got too serious for his stupid music
mac demarco is the kind of musician that could only really exist in the early 2010s
Brody Fisher
you haven't have sex, huh
you need that funkin magic in your heart to get the genre
Nathaniel Williams
This actually, he's laying low about the allegations which in the first place weren't even real from what i've read.
Brayden Walker
Had a super unique sound that went on to pretty much be it's own genre. It rubbed him a weird way so he started making folky cowboy music that wasn't as accessible. Now he remains bitter about being a pop industry factory product and collabs with LA Indie bands. He continually pumps out dirty singles that capture what influenced him in the first place, Steely Dan and Yellow Magic Orchestra 80s shit.
Aiden White
He abused minors.
Kayden Adams
Very true, he loves going crazy and shit and his lifestyle isn't "PC" enough for the everyone. Lot of finger in butt stories lol
Gabriel Nelson
I wore a lot of dickies and cuffed jeans but at least I didn't wear dad hats and overalls or any cigarette merchandise
Camden Clark
James Ferraro has entered the chat
Jayden Jackson
Though technically true “filmed a buddy at a party whipping his dick out and there happened to be teenagers around” comes off a bit different when you just call it “abusing minors”.
Jace Campbell
This is what killed Toro Y Moi too. Now he just makes flavorless r&b
Anthony Wood
nothing went wrong
you wouldnt want to be that famous for longer than 5 years, youd lose your soul
his life went pretty well if you ask me:
>become an indie rockstar in your early 20s
>influence a generation
>tour, drink and party for the rest of your 20s
>use the money to buy a comfy LA house and build a comfy home studio in it
>ride out the rest of you life hanging out and doing whatever the fuck you want
Lincoln Brooks
I would've thought so but having smoked before and after listening to viceroy you kinda get it. He's aware of the effects on his health and relationships but he deems himself past the point of return and is content dying that way.
Kayden Morris
Has there been an artist of quality that didn't abuse minors?
Daniel Thompson
>just doing MDE cell phone videos 10 years later
hustle and grind
Josiah Cox
it was a ironic joke song
a love song about a really terrible cigarette brand
nobody outside of canada really got the joke cus viceroy are a local thing
Nathaniel Cruz
>rest of you life
very romantic, but no. he will be broke by his late 30s if he does nothing. aint no fucking way you are set for life from the little time he had being popular.
Easton Jones
You know too much
Gabriel Cruz
Probably why he collabs with people like Eyedress
Brody White
if he can afford an LA house im pretty sure hes loaded, plus he will continue to make money off album/merch sales for years. worst case scenario im sure he can fit a few tours in his schedule over the next decade to keep him going. he never had expensive tastes so its not like hes gonna burn through it quickly
