When are we gonna' get more? I just watched through the whole show twice and I'm itching for more!
Well, while we wait, let's have a Venture Bros thread!

I can't wait for the petty relationship that is Malcolm and Rusty being forced by their loved ones to hang out as brothers
I cant wait for Billy to Fuck Pete
If we're lucky summer of next year. If we're not, early 2021.
I've loved the New York seasons of the show. Kind of wish the Monarch as the Blue Morpho had lasted a bit longer because it was funny as hell. Curious as to what shit from years past could be brought up now that we know what happened to Jonas Sr.
For me, it's Presto Change-o.
Welcome to the club my dude, now you get to experience the pain that is 2 year minimum hiatuses. Hopefully it's some time next year.
I remember reading somewhere that the earliest we'll get the next season is by 2021
At least those breaks help quality. We can have full confidence knowing it'll be great.
The creators are childless and depressed, this show is like entering the mind of a weak white man living in shame of his ancestors achievements
I'm a /pol/fag and you're being retarded, not everything is subversion.
Not judging just saying it gives me a glimpse at modern white male brains. Hate children, constant guilt, feel like failures, pop culture addicts etc.
Yep, doesn't sound like you are judging and looking to start something at all.
I love Red Death. I just hope they don't use him sparingly. He's like the old sweet murderous grandpa that comes to visit.
Is that why there are so few black tokens in this show? It's weird for adultswim standards.
Clancy Brown does a good job as his VA.
They have Jefferson Twilight.
>not Pete fucking Billy
This show is older than those standards, but they're getting more think tank was pretty great
If only. I was dreading the idea of Dean sleeping with Serena from the first time they were in a scene together.
I love their ideas in the commentary, I hope they actually go through with the career day episode where he goes to his daughter's school and awkwardly explains to a bunch of six year olds why he and his daughter are skinless monsters and what he does for a living.
Also hope they get a Blacula episode because apparently New York is lousy with them, and Blacula hunters too.
don't forget kiki!
I'M MR BRIGHTSIDE
Who could ever forget Kiki.
thx for the pic
This show is just too good i wanna know more about the bear guy
god i hate how discussion for this show just immediately dies once a season ends
I know i never see any discussion and then as soon as a new season starts BOOM there's a billion threads.
After a long time, it becomes something to expect like Haley's Comet. Don't get too wrapped up about how long it takes. I'm 30, now, and spent so much time in my early 20's angsting about the wait. We should all be lucky it still comes out with solid quality when the time comes.
I used to have major VB withdrawals. I started watching it when I was 17 and I’m turning 28 next week. I’ve learn to deal with it. Just focus on other stuff and get pleasantly surprised when it actually comes out.
at the very least i expected shippingfags to never shut up about how dean cucked hank but even that just didn't happen
weirdest show on TV because its so incredibly gay but its never talked about as a gay show.
Same. Started watching in 03 when the pilot first premiered and been watching since. Also when next week, cause mine's the 16th. Either way happy b-day!
At the rate they're going they'll hit syndication around their 20th anniversarry. That shit just sounds to weird to me
Thanks! Happy early birthday to you too!
Mines is the 14th The same day as Jackson Publick’s
They’re still writing the next season so I wouldn’t even expect it next year.
Last weekend I went the the Venture Bros panel at Dragon Con. They skyped in Doc Hammer who answered questions in character as Dr. Girlfriend with a puppet of her. It was a lot of fun. I also got James Urbaniak to sign my season 2.
Cool, what did they talk about?
>When a one-off joke character uses their shapeshifting powers in a more interesting way than all of Steven Universe
To be fair, that one-off joke character was literally built to be everything they love and hate about cliched shapeshifer/trickster types.
Well it’s the Venture Bros, so a lot of bullshitting. They just answered fan questions and plugged the book. Since Doc and Jackson weren’t actually there all the questions we’re confined to things the voice actors could answer.
Damn, oh well.
Still sounds fun, hope that shows up somewhere.
It has likable gay characters who don't come across as stereotypes.
AND voiced by Mark fucking Hamill.
He finally gets to hunt African American vampires.
because the writers of VB actually know how to write interesting characters and make creative and unique stories
And yet their show still gets worse viewership numbers
They have multiple openly trans and gay characters. Dont you think it's a bit much to expect a show to be racially diverse *and* LGBT friendly?
I hope 'twin peaks: the return' inspires a David Lynch episode from them. The last 2 seasons have had at least 1 director inspired episode each season.
Why hasn't the show gotten a movie deal yet?
It gets good enough ratings from loyal viewers after 15 fucking years whereas SU fans started turning on the show and making "What went wrong" videos after two.
No shit?
What were the others?
it has 2 out gay characters and dozens of closeted ones making low key hints
everyone says the theme of this show is failure buts its so crypto homo wtf.
the henchmen characters are one of the most glaring examples, 21 and 24. There's one point where they try to go out on their own as "jet boy jet girl"
>The damned do a cover of it!
lol, for those who don't know its literally one of the gayest songs ever put to music literally.

the other one that gets me is the quiz boy and white, they tip their hand a lot with that couple.
Some scene where quizboy gets returned to a forlon white and he's like hugging him and crying while flowers bloom on a cactus or something.
I always got the vibe that rusty and brock were a couple initially and brock leaving was the result of a breakup. I know brock is obstensibly the most hetero thing on two legs but all trappings of their relationship are very... I dunno, couple ex/couple like, especially when they both talk to hank and dean.
In the earlier episodes there was a running gag that Rusty had a crush on Brock ala Race Bannon and Dr Quest, but they canned it because it was basically just "haha he gay?"
>Why hasn't the show gotten a movie deal yet?
Because Cartoon Network doesn't really look highly on the show. Why else do you think it takes them 2 years to produce a single season? They have bare minimum staff so they have to snail-crawl the production so they can get maximum results with minimum staff. The network won't give them a bigger budget so they could hire more people and decrease production time.
"A Party for Tarzan" from S6. They explicitly state in the commentary that they were going for a Martin Scorsese-esque New York crime episode.
"The Unicorn in Captivity" from S7 may be slightly more head canon because of the obvious 'Eyes Wide Shut' parallels/parody. But there's also some inverse parallels with the teleporter heist plot and and Stanley Kubrick's early film 'The Killing'. So I don't think that it's coincidence at all based on how they write. I haven't watched season 7 commentary as much so I can't remember if they actually make that connection.
>I always got the vibe that rusty and brock were a couple initially
I ship it.
Movies can be fun, but I don't see what a 90 minute version of an episode can offer that their recent 3 part season opener didn't.
>it’s real
Does he watch the show?
wait, who was trans?
Post more references!
youtu.be
Jesus Christ user. Have you been taking your pills?
Hunter
>I MISS MY BREASTS. INSIDE ME IS A WOMAN SCREAMING TO GET OUT!
ohh, gdi that was so long ago I completely forgot about that subplot.
If he liked being a woman though, why'd he transition back?
if i recall he originally just played it off as something he was only doing to fake his death, but now the veil is down and he just wants to go back to being a woman
>not Billy eating the pennies
Slow and steady. The wait probably makes me appreciate it more when it finally comes out. Plus they come out so far between it's always a nice reason to re-watch the entire series every few years
why does chris mcculloch call himself jackson publick anyway?
yeah, they've been teasing it for so long. what gives?
I'm sure that painting is far older than Venture Bros, either it's a hilarious coincidence or more likely they based Kiki if not Col Gentlemen's sexuality entirely around that painting.
Just a fun pen name.
>When I started this whole thing, I was going to have way more fun with the nom de plume thing. I was going to be Jackson Publick for this and if anybody ever cared about interviewing me it will make it fun because I will just lie and tell colorful stories. I would blog about my exciting non-existent life and supermodels.
this was from an interview with some guy from suicidegirls. there's a link to it on his wikipedia page which goes more into detail about it.
Actually, at least three canon gays- Gentleman, Shore Leave, Alchemist.
I still believe that Jonas Venture isn't actually Monarchs biological father. I base this purely on the fact that Vendata and the Monarch have the same teeth/mouth thing going on.
I'm going with the idea he's some kind of weird chimera of Monarch's parents and Jonas. Jonas didn't even need to put himself in there to get a viable offspring, he's just an entitled dick who wanted to put his signature on Malcolm.
At the very least Jackson and Doc left a nice wide birth with "they're related" but not "they're brothers".
What if Jonas isn't the Monarch's father, but the Monarch's mother is also Rusty's mother? Because Jonas figured he could use an heir of his own?
That scene was so strange. It should have just been a one-off joke but then Brock and Hunter just keep dragging it out with more examples and none of them were really funny enough to justify it.
Nah that was my favorite joke of the episode.
what episode is this from?
Bot seeks Bot
>used to live with a stripper
>showed her this scene
>starts laughing her ass off and describing how bad the tits are on some of the girls she works with
venture bros is a lot gayer than i thought!
>Parody of seedy celebrity debauchery that happens behind the phony glamour of show business
If anything it's not gay enough.
Why hasn't GameTheory done a video on The Venture Brothers, Twelve Forever, or Silent Hill?
>In the earlier episodes there was a running gag that Rusty had a crush on Brock
I thought that was just the pilot. But to be fair I haven’t watched S1 in over a decade.
Are you a fan of Steven Universe?
Really? Did CN get suckered into some contract forcing them to produce the show NO MATTER WHAT or something?
No. It's more like the execs just don't care enough to do anything about it. They don't care enough to give it the larger budget it deserves, yet at the same time they seemingly don't care enough to cancel it. Then again, it might could be that the execs just haven't noticed it's been on for over 15 years. Look at ATHF. They specifically pulled the plug on that show because they had no idea it was still on the air as long as it was and thought it had been so for far longer than they thought it had a right to.
My guess is that they themselves don't care for the show that much but they don't want to give it away to other networks either. Doc and Jackson somehow got a contract that allowed them to keep the rights to the series and go to other networks in the event that CN cancelled it, which is pretty damn rare. I think in return, CN got to keep 100% of the merchandising rights and that's probably why there's barely any merchandise aside from the T-Shirt Club stuff.
its way higher than that. I have no idea why the show is so closeted about its gayness but there's a lot of undeniably gay characters.
When the creators say something like "oh yeah Doctor girlfriend is a woman she just has a super deep voice" you have to be some sort of gullible to accept that as anything but tongue in cheek.
Hatred is a another huge homo obviously.
There's really more queer characters than there are straight. Just there's only 3 out characters.
You should also note that whenever hunter gets a chance to go into disguise, he's always a woman.
the only other one i remember was Captain Sunshine, which was more of a Batman parody that went all the way with the Robin jokes.
Cant recall which villains were, tho.
That's what I was assuming. It feels too straightforward a reveal now for Jonas to be monarch's father. I was thinking when Jonas "examined" monarch's mother when they were having a hard time getting pregnant, he took an egg sample or something and scienced himself up a son.
Sunshine was just an emotionally unstable manchild.
>Hatred is a another huge homo obviously.
Hatred is a pedophile. Gender is irrelevant.
a couple of years
Using his own DNA to make a clone of himself using her eggs? This could be clone testing before Rusty perfects it for his sons. There is no way Rusty invented cloning vats when all of his inventions were his fathers just expanded upon
It was already confirmed that Jonas invented cloning ontop of that Rusty is a clone.
Didn't thinktank die after one episode?
>This could be clone testing before Rusty perfects it for his sons.
Rusty never perfected it. He inherited it when it was already perfected. Apart from being a test subject, Rusty had absolutely ZERO input on it's development. Ben specifically says that he and Jonas started and finished the cloning tech, not Rusty.
>Didn't thinktank die after one episode?
No, he's just comatose. We see Stars and Garters visiting him in the hospital since he shared a room with Rusty.
