Hey Yea Forums, just wanted to give an update on the Ms. Yea Forums 2019 tournament. First off, the first nomination thread is going to start this Friday, September 13th. That way we'll have at least the whole weekend to nominate for the thread. I'm looking for a 128-entry tournament.
Just a reminder, the top 8 of the last tournament will sit this one out. That includes: >Starfire >Toph >Kim Possible >Chel >Black Canary >Harley Quinn >Helen Parr and of course the winner, Jenny Wakeman
Feel free to use this thread to talk about and speculate on what might happen in the 2019 bracket. I'll also answer questions if anyone has any.
Are there any restrictions in place for who can and can't be in the tournament? Like no webcomics or webseries?
Jack White
no horses obviously
Carson Ward
The only restriction is against Yea Forums adaptations of non-Yea Forums property, unless that specific adaptation is very popular with Yea Forums independent of the source (like Lydia Deetz) or the character debuted in the Yea Forums adaptation (like Sticks in Sonic Boom)
Jacob Miller
I know I will forget to post that day. So I nominate Tulip's reflection.
Robert Rogers
Any Yea Forums related source should be okay, but I think there's a limit per franchise, so we don't end up with 12 DC, 12 Marvel, and 12 SU characters.
Brody Powell
I thought people liked them. They've asked for 3 or 4 more already.
Xavier Green
Only one girl per property right? So we can't nominate for example Lori and Leni from The Loud House?
Levi King
I think it’s 3 or so.
Ian Allen
This year is going to be interesting since we've gotten a massive influx of new waifu shows. Although Spinel will likely win i'm expecting Anne, Tulip, and Reggie to be in the top 8
I'm predicting Spinel and Peni to be the heavy hitters this tournament. They were definitely the two biggest Yea Forums waifus to come out since the first Ms. Yea Forums.
Alright last question. Does the show/Comic need to have aired? I'm asking if someone like Eda from The Owl House can be nominated.
Joseph Butler
It does yeah.
Brandon Barnes
I'm hoping Entrapta does well. Also question for all of you guys. If there was a tournament around valentines day for best couple do you think it should be limited to canon couples or should non-canon ships be allowed?
Lost media and dropped pilots are fair game if you can get enough support behind it, but if it's just a show that hasn't aired yet, save it for next year.
Gabriel Walker
Spinel is way to recent it make such a dent.
Andrew Thomas
>Spoiler Obviously it should be canonical. Ships sound fun, but that'll probably open up the floodgates.
Noah Fisher
Ideally, canon, though non-canon would be fun too.
Angel King
I'm sorry, this is incorrect. There's at least one nominee last year that breaks this rule. If you can get the support for it, shows that have yet to air are fine.
Ryder Cox
YES! Okay, I had a few ideas for nominations but won't officially drop until Friday of course >Dr Mrs The Monarch (Venture Bros) >White Rabbit (Marvel/Spider-Man) >Zatanna >Wonder Woman >Mera She'll probably go far
Xavier Martinez
Now this is a question I’ve been interested in and hope it doesn’t cause a shitshow Does Rachel from Rocko count?
Princess Marco counted last year, so I don't see why not. I just doubt that the support would be there for a nomination to go through.
Bentley Scott
I'm going with a no here, chief
Tyler Jenkins
Spinel and Anne will be the big newcomers. I don't think they'll win but they'll go far.
Jason Peterson
Who’s this asshole?
Dylan Moore
You know for a goddamn fact you specifically made this post to cause a shitshow.
Jaxson Brown
If crossdressers count, I don't see why transgenders don't count.
Liam Rivera
Can anyone think of a Pearl esc. waifu, as in a waifu that doesn't look attractive but manages to get very far by pure personality?
I was surprised how the contest was more then just "whatever character makes my dick hard" and a lot of the ones that got far where ones that hard some personality to them. Hell, that's basically how Jenny beat Starfire.
But I want to nominate someone who manages to get that far purely from personalty.
James Sanders
Forgot the image. I'm talking about Yea Forums Pearl not SU Pearl.
The guys tournament is hugely based on the character of the individual compared to looks, though having the whole package gets you the farthest
Ian Hernandez
t. Steg will be this year's Mr. Yea Forums
Logan Gomez
I don't get the turmoil to these threads. It's essentially waifu wars nonsense, lower than Hunger Games. The tv show tournaments make sense, because it's actually debating which show is superior on the merits of entertainment rather than how funny or action-y it is. This whole thing just feels like the meme prompt "wich 2hu wuld u fug". Everyone has their own tastes, but my tastes are in specific characters rather than character traits themselves, at least when it comes to waifus. If it ends up that my pick for winner, however few there may be, gets booted out in the first round I'd lose all interest in the tournament. As opposed to TV show brackets, where the only chance of me losing interest is if the final 4 is between WBB, TTG, Ducktales, and TLH. It's just not possible.
Michael Jones
I think that's what we did last year. Plus we have a Mister Yea Forums thing happening later anyway, no need to make it even gayer. Which speaking of, is Johnny Bravo still technically last year's winner?
Carson Scott
Are characters from theme park rides fair game? There are theme park threads like every week and are mostly based on Yea Forums properties or made by Yea Forumsmpanies,
Matthew Anderson
Give an example
Colton Campbell
I kinda have to nominate Steg for that, any other good representatives from the year besides maybe Hop Pop? I’d nominate the guy from Primal but we don’t even have a name for him.
Nathaniel Harris
Redd from Pirates of the Carribean, or the Bride from Haunted Mansion
Might be case to case depending on the op. At the very least if they had a cartoon/comic they should be in for that So characters like Orange Bird and Figment are good for example
Noah Clark
I agree. My only concern is that it leaves more ambiguous relationships or relationships not quite confirmed yet out of the competition.
Adrian Kelly
Yeah I'm not wild about Steven Universe but I wouldn't mind Steg "Pussy Destroyer" Multiverse being nominated for Mr Yea Forums. He's at least fun. I'm personally going to throw out a no on that one. It's a stretch, and probably will get kicked out first round.
Just to clarify, we doing series/publisher limits again? Because that way we can ensure a balanced out roster between fandoms and comics/cartoons. For example even without Toph, ATLA has several candidates such as Azula, Korra, Mei, Katara, and so on. Putting a fandom cap of 3 seems appropriate. Publishers get 10 each considering DC and Marvel have a wide variety, and will naturally face an uphill battle against cartoons regardless. Sound fair?
Michael Diaz
Honestly I could see her getting farther than Star considering how bad S4 fucked up Star's character.
Oh apologies, OP. >5 per show >8 per publisher I don't know, 5 per show sounds like a lot don't you think? There's a greater number of cartoon fandoms to consider here. That's why I suggested 3 per show and 10 per publisher. Those will fill up faster than you can believe, and will still pale by the cartoon comparison. But feel free to do whatever, merely throwing it out there. I'm interested to hear what other people have to say.
Shit, I;d thought I'd missed it. We gonna have a Mr. Yea Forums again too or did the fuck-up last year ruin it?
Jaxon Myers
Yeah we are. Gonna be clean this time. I hope.
Jaxon Gray
An user who’s known to be different then the op last year is running that one It’s sometime after this one
Elijah Scott
not sure girls age 4-12 count.
but hopefully either Kelsey, Jessica or Kit from Craig of the Creek is going to be in this tournament.
Hunter Phillips
Toph was in last year. I don't think that it's an issue. It's not necessarily just a waifu tournament that's just a factor. It's more for what character you like more.
Cameron Wright
Nominate her. I'll vote for her It's not year based. Yea Forums gals from all eras are up for grabs, even Betty Boop. However I wonder if Spinel should be banned from this year (okay to try next year of course). I only suggest this because naturally she's got mad FotM pull right now. I like her, just want to be fair.
Nah let her compete. There are going to be other more recent characters that are also predicted to do well.
Jack Walker
Like who?
Gavin Rodriguez
Peni Technically not new., Anne, Tulip, and Reggie.
Camden Cruz
Don't forget Catra
Camden Sanchez
Oh dang, I didn't realize Death was on Ms. Yea Forums last year. I only just got into Sandman this year, and now I hope she gets in this year. Too bad she lost so soon, but was going up against a heavy hitter like Black Canary
Evan Gonzalez
Catra gets points for being a catgirl, but I wouldn't say she has the same clout as the examples user listed. She'll probably pass the 1st round though.
Jaxson Wilson
Canon ships only, but it would be funny to see how far Zutara gets
Adrian Jackson
I think a lot of people feel for her lately I guess she went bad? There were some threads about it
Sebastian Torres
I'll vote for her. Just be sure to nominate her so she can get votes to make the cut. Also keep in mind that a lot of these matchups ultimately depend on the random brackets. So for example a literal who going up against say Starfire is already an uphill battle. That's why during real voting you should also make your case for said character. Fingers crossed she does better this year
No reason not to, even with flavor of the month votes she’ll still not get far, especially with the people who hate the spam And then next year she’ll get even less votes when the car smell wears off
Well in the Toons of the Tens Tournament, there were 128 contestants. Depends on OP.
Luis Diaz
PLEASE. I'll vote for her. It's more likely to happen when that sandman show gets off the ground though.
Evan Perez
There's only 15(?) viable candidates
Anthony Collins
yeah but it's enough imo
Daniel Smith
128 is the standard and what we do unless we get less Just wondering how many you think will get through the first nominations to the polling. Not all of the nominated characters make it to the actual bracket
Caleb Hall
SPINEL NEEDS TO BE BANNED! IT HAS AN UNFAIR FOTM ADVANTAGE!!!
I don't think I've ever seen a flavor of the month as popular though... except Bowsette
Adam Reyes
I find this tournament really questionable but going over the thread I see some rules do exist.
A copy-paste of the rules or an image of them would be nice. I didn't understand a lot in that image >No Violet >No Alex >No Gwen Tennyson etc. Was there a previous top 8 in 2018 that were excluded?
Then there is what was allowed >Two youtube animated girl personas were allowed >Two webcomic characters
Would "Holli Would" from Cool World be allowed if Jessica Rabbit did or not because she eventually turns into Kim Basinger?
I'd probably go so far as to exclude all furries but I understand that is my prejudice talking.
This started in 2018 and this is the second annual competition. Jenny Wakeman is sitting out forever, and the top 8 from last year are sitting out this year so other characters get a shot.
Bentley Sanders
I'm surprised Azula was never even in the last Ms. Yea Forums thread
Owen Martin
Why is XJ9 permanently banned?
Lucas Smith
DO IT! Support and rep Azula this year. She is forever immortalized as 2018 winner, and first ever winner of Miss Yea Forums. However I'm mostly speaking out my ass here. I just know she's banned this year.
Isaiah Brown
She's the winner of 2018. She has no reason to return and doubly so since she's very likely to win again. Give the new girls a chance.
Angel Jones
See there are some girls i want to nominate but know they don't have a snowballs chance in hell compared to others. For example I think girls like The Baroness from GI Joe, and Evil-lyn from He-Man deserve some love since they're practically cartoon royalty. The only one I see with a realistic chance is April O'Neil, but even then anons will probably demand the pedobait shit
well Panda Delgado definitely needs to be in this time around, kinda weird she got left out last time, also throwing in nominations to the following characters from the first contest; Pacifica Northwest, Attea, Peg Pete, Nicole Watterson, Lindsay, and Princess Bubblegum
also I kinda have a feeling that the previous tournament was rigged cause it's really hard to believe that certain contestants lost as early as they did or that certain contestants made it as far as they did
honestly I kinda think we should disallow Marvel and DC characters unless they're a specific version from a cartoon, their comics versions are too variable in nature to be good choices otherwise
I'm not listening to jack shit you have to suggest if you accuse me of rigging, dumb motherfucker.
Andrew Sanchez
user, you have bad ideas (save Panda, go nominate her Friday). Disallowing Marvel/DC characters? Fuck off with that. This contest is cartoon favored enough as is.
Luis Torres
you have to remember this board has hundreds of people, many of whom probably don't state their tastes as loudly as others. others factors include spite voting. I don't know how much it plays but it was evident
Jackson Perez
Ignoring the part of this in which its based on voting, can we image Jenny, Johnny, and Yea Forumsnrad being the judges for this year?
Yeah sure. I'm kind of hoping this spawns fun fan art like last year. One of the things I expect to see is Jenny handing over the crown to the new gal. I like where your head is at too, having Conrad and Johnny also stasis with the hosting
I'll definitely be making art for this event. Likely for whenever two characters facing off against each other is funny
Nolan Stewart
I didn't mean you rigged it(should have been more clear there), more that other people might have tampered with the votes, cause I have a REALLY hard time buying that Lois Lane could beat out Pearl or Black Canary beating out Jinx to give two examples
>Disallowing Marvel/DC characters? Fuck off with that. again I'm mostly suggesting that for consistency reasons cause the comics are too variable in nature to be reliable sources for something like this
Hudson Peterson
user there's a base level of consistency with comic characters. Like say someone nominates Wonder Woman, it's pretty much a given who we're referring to (not like Flashpoint or Injustice Diana for example). And it's not like there's any real drastic difference between say comic Wonder Woman and DCAU/JLU Wonder Woman. So we're fine
Cooper Fisher
So are characters from web shows and web comics fair game? Like can some of us nominate Erma?
Just because you don’t believe it to be likely, doesn’t mean it’s not. Upsets happen by a bigger quieter fanbase.
Wyatt Howard
unless we add another method or two on who should win like one character wins popularity but the other character wins the other categories, there will be perceived odd results
I'm at least hoping for some greentexts like in the toons of the 2010's competition. Those were fun.
Adam Murphy
Wouldn’t that defeat the purpose of voting? Nominate on Friday
Thomas Reyes
Well there is the Legion of Doom Threads. There's a Black Manta supporting Azula.
Jason Scott
Show it to Me
Oliver Green
Most people on Yea Forums couldn't give a damn about SU outside of the generals and talkbacks. Just because you and five other anons obsess over it doesn't mean anyone else here does. In fact, I'm so confident that Pearl will get blown the fuck out again that I'll submit an obscure character and guarantee she'll crawl one tier higher on the poll, strictly because nobody wants to hear about it from you obnoxious cunts.
Joseph Hernandez
I wouldn't necessarily call those greentexts roleplays. They were just self contained and one time hypotheticals of those characters interacting.
Jonathan Bailey
Not necessarily, it just means it's not be-all and end-all factor. Not everyone will agree on that.
I loved the doofenshmirtz posters from the Mr. Yea Forumslympus threads. Especially the plastic man one
Henry Evans
>Remember what happened last year
>Ms Yea Forums threads held solidly. They were focused. Held interest. Everyone having a good time. Clean ending.
>Mr Yea Forums threads devolved into pure degeneracy >Some good matches but more bitterness over outcomes >Can't even remember what it was but it was some inside joke 2-4 autists were spamming the threads, replying to every post with it >Mongoloids trying to organize 2 other versions of contests in the threads saying they'd be better >OP literally lying about the final results in the last round because he didn't want Johnny to win
2 genders, a mod for containment, and civility. That's it. That's all we need. It's not complicated. It doesn't need to be something big and phenomenal. It's just light-hearted board fun. Keep it that way and everyone can be happy.
Actually Ms Yea Forums had some unfortunate drama early on. There was that one user who kept pushing for fusion bullshit IIRC
Jordan Morales
Ms. Yea Forums threads did have their own problems albeit not as large. A guy was trying to set up a some character fusion contest, and Iirc tried promoting it during miss Yea Forums This caused problems where (I don't know what caused it but) people accused other people of being the creator of said tournament
Nathan Bennett
Yea Forums in general has shit taste so i expect salt i'm still posting mr. DIALS for mr co/
I know one of you has the screencap of them all, someone post it
Benjamin Mitchell
what kind of fusion, fan-stuff or canon stuff like Opal or Smoky Quartz?
Hunter Stewart
So we only have two tourneys left right? Ms. and Mr. Yea Forums, i kind of wish we had a comic of the 2010s to cap off everything since we started with the toon of the 2010s tourney
Juan Scott
No it was some autist spamming those drawfag made fusion characters trying to come up with some nonsensical competition surrounding them
