Family is like a dumping ground for jokes, there is no attention to plot or chracter just EVERY KIND OF JOKE a group of four writers can think, which also makes it weird for a comedy, in most comedies/stand up shows you will expect the type of jokes that would come from the characters/comedians or writing of specific show/stand up, Family Guy just throws anything it has, Dirty jokes, dark jokes, parody jokes, inpersonation jokes, stupid jokes, dad jokes, puns, self aware bad jokes.
Family Guy is the true seinfeld, a comedy about nothing, but in the format of the Simpsons
