Is this really the best event comic of the century?

Wrong GL event.

To be fair, Sinestro Corps War, Rage of the Red Lanterns, Blackest Night, Brightest Day are just 1 really long event

>brightest day
What the fuck was Johns thinking

Honestly, the best thing about it is that nothing really happened. It was more as a "hey, these guys are back. And there's something creepy connected to them. Oh wait, no there's not. Here's Swamp Thing!"

Honestly I can't remember Brightest day. I can only remember everyone coming back to life and best boy Sinestro being even more right and powerful.

This the build up is amazing

It is like "Look we have ring powered superman prime, cyborg superman, and the antimoniter with an evil army of green lantern's. What can top this?" Then they topped it with more ring corps and then fucking zombies with rings all across the universe.

Inferno is better in every way

no one cares about the x men.

Demon Ilyana is lovely.

It wasn't that hard to survive, Parralax just needed to exorcised and everyone hypermoved Anti-Monitor and then Prime betrayed. You really only need Hal to fight Sinestro and Cyborg Superman got memed by the crossfire of the Anti-Monitor. It just ended with everyone ganging up and fucking up Prime. Earth got really lucky because Anti-Monitor and his team woulf fuck Earth 99% of the time.

>thousands of green lanterns
>thousands of yellow lanterns
>a cyborg version of superman
>an insane version of superman with no weaknesses
>parallax
>and that guy that destroyed a bunch of realities and could nuke the planet by himself
>all fighting across earth

This event got me into comics. Even if the execution wasn't that great I really loved the different colored corps interacting.

>What the fuck was Johns thinking
"Hey these are all characters people liked, let's not keep them in storage for 30+ years"

Same for me. I'm from australia and grew up in a small town in bumfuck nowhere. Nearest comic store was several hundred kilometers away. Traveled to the US for my 18th birthday a decade ago and happened to visit a comic store when I was there. Grabbed Blackest Night, Red Son, Kingdom Come, JLA/Avengers and Final Crisis. My only experience with superhero stuff prior to that was old Superman films. Fucking loved those books. Must have read each 50 times. Final Crisis was my favorite, doubly so after reading enough to actually understand it.

Haven't stopped reading since, though New 52 and how hard they fucked up rebirth is making me consider it.

Johns GL is peak popcorn comics

That series launched the best Aquaman/Mera era

Fun fact about SCW Sinestro Corps: Anti-Monitor, Parallax, and Superboy-Prime were the main villains of all three previous Crisis events so the fact that they all got together was pants shitting

but what's missing is the villain of Identity Crisis (Dr Light's penis)

>villain of Identity Crisis
I'm pretty sure Zatanna's in a few background shots

Zatanna did nothing wrong

>literally every DC event is just grimdark mass murder of heroes
This wouldn't happen if the universe had actual good characters in it

If Zatanna was immortal, ten thousand years in the future she'd be no different than the GL Guardians. She's a monster.

Fpbp. SC was the superior event.

>Not Final Crisis
>Not Multiversity
Come on now.

Multiversity wasn't really an "event" since it had no impact on the DCU.

Not directly, sure, but it's not as if the characters haven't kept on popping up...and outside the DCU, people won't shut the fuck up about Empty Hand. Retards keep posting powerlevel threads with him in it all the time, completely missing the point.

It's not an event

10/10 fucking zinger of a reply there. You may as well have just posted "you".

What else am I supposed to say? This is a thread for best event comics. Multiversity isn't an event comic.

ladderbro pls

No

Multiversity is a self contained series. That's like saying Seven Soldiers is an event.

It might be the best event ever simply because the vast majority of events are terrible.

JLA/Avengers as a trade? Youuu sonofabitch

Pretty new to comics, I found there's a Green Lantern, and a Green Lantern Corps "Blackest Night", can anyone enlighten me how the Corps issues fit into the chronology? Thanks in advance.

The art is superb, patrick, ivan and doug.

The villain of that book is the writer

google a reading order. its somewhat complicated with the silly tie-ins

whut?
Even if it's just Johns work.
Sinestro Corps War is better in so many ways.
