Realistically X-Men are going to be the MCU’s next big thing, but equally common criticism of the Fox X-Meb was the lack of character development outside of Wolverine, Charles and Magneto.
So you want a roster that can bleed over into other franchises so you don’t have to front end the first X-Men movie with lots of origin stories that we’ve partially seen before, whilst also creating a team/dynamic that works together and has story potential.

Iceman (LGBT opportunity, visually distinct powers, loves to quip)
Nightcrawler/Beast/Angel (visually distinct, signals that mutants are more than just super humans like we’ve seen before)

Tbf actually Psylocke would be a good bet, as she can tie into a British expansion with Black Knight (and eventually Captain Britain)
