Hitman's ending definitely hit me harder than probably any comic before. Tommy and Natt felt like best friends dying right in front of you.

Not quite as devastating but Vigilante's final issue was also pretty chilling

>Y: The Last Man
desu the comic as a whole wouldn't even rank in a list of my favourites because the bulk of it I didn't like too much, but the final issue is really emotional. Namely the scene where Yorick puts Ampersand to sleep, which fucked me up hard and reminded me of the pets I've lost, as well as his final escape and his last word of advice: "Just go out there and get your heart broken in, so it'll be ready when you really need it."

>Preacher
Cassidy's letters and his final appereance were the standout of the final issue. A good capstone to everything that came before it.

Can anything ever Top hitman?
also has tommy ever made a cameo in a book after that?

Yeah Baytor and Noonan's Bar appeared in an issue of Detective Comics (I think, something Tomasi-written at least)

Probably recency bias.

Invisibles

I wept incredibly hard

Just read through this and it was a good read. Thanks, user, for bringing it to my attention.

Hitman was a really fucking unexpectedly depressing book.

I feel like I’m the only one who didn’t really like the ending. I mean, it was well-written, sure, but it felt almost Ultimatum-tier in terms of the sheer level of nonstop misery porn and it kinda just left me with a “That’s it? That’s fucking it?!” reaction. I was hoping for a bittersweet ending, not just a straight-up tragic one, especially since the main cast was so goofy and lovable in contrast.

AFAWK

fuck off

This ending always made me think of the song Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits.
Fuck, now I’m sad.

The ending to Fury Max was a fucking gut punch we’re practically everyone ends up miserable

Saw it coming from a mile away, but it still hurt like a motherfucker. He was best boy.

The whole ending to this comic was really fucked up and tragic in a pretty similar way to Hitman, honestly.

It took me years before I found out that was The Smiths lyrics

I never understood the ending, but it still gave me a feeling. I dont know why.

1 percent.

Never really see this series on this board.

One of my favourite endings ever. The way he just bamboozled everyone and laughs at us and the whole cast is fantastic. What a well-earned ending.

Ending to Motor Girl gave me legit feels.

And that's a wrap on Jonah Hex

This. Fuck.

Nice.

This is a pretty huge spoiler to put right on the catalog.

Spiderman: Life story is way better than I was expecting and the best "end of Spiderman's life and career" books

Palmiotti and Gray wrote a hell of a run I'll say that. One of the best.

FUCK BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS

Attached: RCO022.png (1000x1500, 1.66M)

nice that they gave Jonah a happy ending without ignoring his his previously established fate, how'd he get his face fixed though?

He goes to the future by Green Lantern, fucks around shooting mofos, gets plastic surgery after a car crash, and Green Lantern sends him back to find some dude pretending to be him.

Got sent to the future and was fixed with plastic surgery
I hope Hex never gets a new ongoing. This was the perfect ending

It wasn't Green Lantern it was Bo....oh fuck you man almost got me.

Can we just pretend Spider-Man ends here? From Amazing Spider-Man #500.
Agreed.

I'm a sucker for the heroes getting to say goodbye to their loved ones.

Attached: RCO037_1471288758.jpg (988x1500, 1.53M)

Also love that Jazzy John Romita returned to draw the book for this instance, keeps in touch with the scene in the brilliant way only comics can do.

I'm glad I read Life Story on a whim, it's the best take on the character in years and it's a shame it's just a miniseries instead of something more substantial.

All Star Western wasn't as good as the volume 2 run but this was a nice moment.

Something about Fear Agent's ending really made me sad, probably Heath's near constant suffering through the entire book.

Goddamn transmetropolitan is so good

why does every Ennis ending make me so goddamn weepy?

d-did he do it?

They killed Robo-Terry twice? Like Jesus?

Attached: Vigilante (1983-1988) 050-024.jpg (1983x3049, 3.74M)

and he actually stayed dead. He wasn't even brought back during the New 52.
Arrow adapted him a bit, added twists, and ended him in the same way.

Attached: Vigilante (1983-1988) 050-025.jpg (1983x3049, 3.06M)

context?

The end result of fifty issues of the main character breaking down. Vigilante was one of DC's books to ditch the CCA in 1985, starting with a two part Alan Moore story about a child molester. Kupperberg took over full time after that (in the mid 20's).
Adrian Chase's poor decisions started to creep up on him, and he killed some cops. Since he became the type of villain he had set out to kill, he killed himself.

didn't he go to heaven when he helped some heroes after having his soul be in purgatory

You have to remember, that ending was being built up from the beginning. Throuout numerous arcs, all of Tommy's friends keep dying, but he and Nat barely make it through. Something was going to get them eventually; just be happy that Tommy made them go out on their own terms. Be happy over all the lives that they saved by taking out the absolute sum of the earth. Be happy with their final act of heroism in the face of overwhelming odds. And then, laugh when you realize that all of their (mis)deeds end up snowballing into rediculously far fetched stories that inspire future heroes to fight against injustice.

interesting.
ill have to read the whole thing.
this and the hitman posted earlier look good.
thanks user

Which run is this from?

Johann's end was so fucking good that I only bothered to actually finish BPRD last week.

Now that was well deserved and terribly sad at the same time.

How did you feel about the full ending? Yea Forums was pretty butthurt when it came out.

Y: The Last Man's second last issue. Knew it was coming. Know it's coming when I reread it. I still cry like a babby.

It felt kind of rushed, but that's probably just because I've become so used to the apocalypse slowly playing out over years and years. But Hellboy's final fate didn't feel anywhere near as powerful as Johann's. I liked the Varvara twist though with the demon being the one that's trapped, never thought of her having the same name as his daughter. I still want to know what the fuck Leonid was, and don't believe he was killed just like that, though.

Also, seeing the vampires show up again to just say "fuck you guys for ruining our apocalypse" made me miss my old ideas that the vampire apocalypse was going to kick into gear along with Hellboy leading the "hell apocalypse", but with the vampires joining forces with humanity and Hellboy's demonic army to beat back the frogs. The vampires really feel like they were either shoehorned in or had their plotline cut.
