Tom King's run on Batman will go down in history as one of the worst runs of the character. No character acts like they should

I wouldn't be surprised if this was all being intentionally written bad just to sour the entire relationship with fans so King or someone else in his social circle of writers could start pushing their Bat-pairing. The Batman/Selina relationship can work, even a marriage, but for fuck sake Tom has went out of his way to make fans hate it.

Yeah, it can. Look the cat and mouse thing works for a bit, but it also gets old fast. Selina Kyle is probably one of the rare women Bruce has met that can put up with his autism, and love both sides of him.

Catwoman has had one comic where she wasn't dumb, and even in that one she wasn't a good fit with Batman. She's a limited character that they keep trying to force with him like a child with autism smashing action figures together.

King has legitimately neutered Bruce Wayne as a character though.

I remember her having decent books. Amazing is a huge exaggeration.

Dark End of the Street was one of my first trades and wanting to read what came after was what got me collecting floppies. Always been annoyed at how little care has been given to Selina over the past 15 some years, but this King gobshite has really taken things to another level with his """"run""""".

Hated just about everything else in the issue - the death is entirely unearned (I can't think of the last time King used that character in any significant capacity) and the scenes with Bruce and Selina are as uninteresting as they are poorly written.

At this point I'm convinced that King's Batman has been Thomas Elliot this whole time because he talks and acts entirely different from the Bruce Wayne we've followed for 80 years.

He just accepts her back into his life after he spent how many issues just being an emotional wreck over what she did to him and she's acting like his cutesy gf again despite her being all broken up about what she did too. I'm guessing they're saving the conversation for their upcoming Bat/Cat series but it's still so jarring.

The big problem with King's Batman is characterization.really miss the good ol Bruce Wayne/ Batman and how he just did everything and anything for peopl, believed in justice, believed in second chances, cared about his friends and kid and I can go on

This whole arc is King's middle-life crisis projected onto Batman, and the result is just as fucking awful as you'd expect.

The problem isn't him not immediatly rushing into Gotham, the problem is that he seems to go on vacation, sitting in a cafe in Paris, going on walks, relaxing at the beach with Selina, instead of calling the members of the batfamily and working to get Gotham back as soon as possible. Even if he needs time to recover, there are still better things to be done than whatever he is doing.

It would probably even the most logical thing to do, and then to regroup with the whole family.

BTAS, Batman Returns, and Bru's Catwoman run made me like that pairing but King's run absolutely killed Batcat for me.
