What's it called when a band dresses up and plays music only from the 50's? It's weird to me, it's like Halloween, or like they can't admit the time period they live in? Even Bob Dylan or Jack White don't pretend it's the 50s. How do you avoid this as a band. Admittedly they look cool.

gay as fuck
I don't think it's gay. It always seems to be this genre too for some reason.
post the asian guys sisters
if it's the sound, i don't mind it, but when they dress this weird amalgam of tattoos hairstyles from the 40s& psychobilly its goofy
Go look at other 'genres" now. Country pretending to be cowboys. Rap pretending to be gangstas. Metal with its variations including goth with their outrageous costumes. Kpop with a bunch of Korean girls pretending to be white. Grunge was laughable with flannel clad junkies. Don't forget the early punks with mohawks and home grown gadhoon craziness. and on and on. I think the worst is country.
>gadhoon
grown
I agree that cosplaying as (insert_decade) is a little corny.
But let's be honest, you can trash talk pretty much the entire music industry, how many kids are dressing like the y2k thing? or the pop punk aesthetic? Most of the doom/psychedelic rock guys dress up like is 1960/70, edgy metalheads doing the black metal makeup and the list goes on and on.
Aesthetically speaking, most music artists nowadays are simply grabbing shit from the past.
Its called BASED.
>squier bass
>60s keystone acrolite
>Guild hollow body
>Squier bass
>Squier
Yikes sweaty
actually its kind of endearing
I never got the whole 50’s rockabilly cosplay thing, but I also play in a band where we dress up and musically LARP like it’s the late 80’s so I don’t have room to judge
gimmick
...
Squiers aren't too bad thesedays.
It’s not that they’re necessarily that bad, but you look like a broke poser playing a Squier.
>t. doesn't live in the real world
Rockabilly Revival
To whom? lol
this, basically
I can kinda understand because those 50's knitted shirts look cool and comfy as fuck but doing like band uniforms around an era is turbolarpy
If I see a band and they’re playing squiers and epiphones, I instantly lose interest in their set
This is why I only play shitty South American guitars that can barely stay in tune
>Likes a band of rich kids that play their first gigs with the best gear
ngmi
FPBP
Based.
When's your dad next wiring your money, I want to lend a tenner?
squier has some decent mid quality stuff
Country artists don't dress like "country artists" at all. If anything its a genre that keeps up with the times, there are throwback artists that wear nudies suits and try and sound like the 50s nashville, they're corny. Tell me how Miranda Lambert larps like rockabilly bands do?
nothing is more poser having the best vintage gear and no one knows your band
low iq
listen up losers, if you play a squier you're not a real player. you didn't cheap out on your fucking gaming PC. fuck you losers, a real Fender is like 1000 dollars if your guitar priority is so low that you buy a Squier for 300 dollars you're not a real guitar player. they are acceptable as Christmas presents for kids and that's it. if you are posting on 4channel you're supposed to be 18. get a job and buy a real Fender
>wasting $1k on a precision bass
P basses are baby’s first bass; idk why you wouldn’t buy a squier
based, i agree, though same applies if they're playing fenders or gibsons
>there are throwback artists that wear nudies suits and try and sound like the 50s nashville, they're corny
yeah knock it off you're not Ernest Tubb
This has to be pasta.
Kurt Cobain uses guitars even cheaper than squiers...I guess he wasn't a real player? Anyway get on my level, if you aren't playing pre 60's vintage, you aren't a real player. How hard is it to appreciate value and know quality when you see it?
Based Blues lawyer with a 10k Gibson on his wall
his main guitars were Pre CBS Fenders, go ahead and post picture of him with the univox mosrite knockoff but you know damn well what guitars Kurt Cobain actually used
Why buy a fender when I can buy a Squire, rip the guts out and rebuild it better than a fender?
You can get a used Fender from Craigslist for less than a new Squier.
He's got buyer's remorse.
I guess so. I can't imagine being so retarded that you can't make any guitar sound great.
>entire thread
funny how nobody denies spending more money on their video games than their guitar. sorry, i'm a real guitar player and having a nice guitar is a priority of mine. if you're happy with your Squier, more power to you, but you aren't a real guitar player. if you are, please post a vocaroo
You know you're speaking the truth when they reply to this post seething hard as fuck. lol
I dont know any 1200 dollar games...
LMAO, once he was the biggest rockstar in the world. Go look at his early pics when the band was starting out.
This was recorded on the cheapest equipment available
youtube.com
Post a song that's better than this.
Slash brought Gibson back into relevance and didn’t even play a real Gibson
yeah he played a handbuilt deal that cost more than a Gibson. slash was a rich kid
i own his guitar
sick
This. Also imagine being so brand obsessed they care about the guitar more than the music.
Squier is a Fender no? Then what about Mex/China/Japan Fenders vs. USA Are they not serious players?
>SERIOUS PLAYER COMIN TRU
people who take guitar seriously don't go with the cheapest possible guitar. squiers are for guys testing the water or for children. if you are a real guitar player in the first world who can actually play, you will have no desire to play the cheapest, corner-cuttingest guitars available
>asians dressing like 50's americans
blessed timeline
A Squier doesn’t say Fender in big letters on the headstock. It isn’t about the actual quality of the guitar as much as it is the logo on the headstock. Audiences listen with their eyes more than you think they would.
i've been playing more than 15 years and never owned anything but cheap, the tone is in the hands
this...big time.
It might suit their budget...
What would you say about epiphones?
