Also it should be noted that the person responsible for Mae and most of the game (Alec) was a liteweight college communist who actually worked for a living (to the point that people suspects work was his coping mechanism), and it’s the two idea guy personalities that are outspoken smash capitalism types while complaining Alec made them work for seven hours some days.

With some variation Mae is called out about her behavior in any sort of playthrough
Bea resents her for not sticking with college, the opportunity she craves but cannot have, and is disgusted with the flakey layabout she's become
Angus resents her because she brings out the worst in Greg. The two of them are trying to build a life out of their town and he doesn't want Greg to go back to his old habits and ruin that
Her parents try to be supportive but eventually her mother tells her off because college was expensive, her freakout and assault on that kid was trouble, and the family is in ever worsening straights
All of them are willing to try to keep trying with Mae, and want her to try as well
The game doesn't fully excuse Mae's behavior but it doesn't relentlessly rake her over the coals for it either. Because it's not written by fucking spergs with no capacity for nuance
Don't think he was saying that what you highlighted isn't fact. All those characters and their interactions/relationships with Mae are legitimate.
But her character/personality is about 70%

Like any porn, and particularly featuring anthropomorphized animals, it's a grab bag leaning terrible more than leaning great.
Most of it is shit, but the few good ones out there are really really good.
I really wanted to like this game but it was so dull. The writing would have been less obnoxious if it was in a comic or cartoon. I fucking wish this would have a chance to shine on Netflix but that's not ever gonna happen.
