The Torbaclaun episode was made after a real life event. It's weird, the memory of the event often creeps into my mind at random, like an obsession, but just a reminder of the general stupidity people are capable of. It's kind of unpleasant, actually. Well played, Parker.

Sometimes it's hard to tell who genuinely hates BC for not being Superman and people who realize it's for entertainment.

Even if it was this is the same thing they would do. We Bear Bears does really well and CN still only shows it for a month or two in the year at best. Summer Camp Island was never replayed a single time between the initial week of season 1 and the release of season 2. Magiswords was played for two months, then a year and a half of hiatus, then season 2 was dumped on Boomerang.

Your average western season is 26-32 episodes but in reality they can do as many as they damn well please and just call it a season when they want a break

The mouths in Tanya were much less rigid than they usually are. It worked out well most of the time. I don't think this was one of them.

It's not even a matter of audiences caring about animation. It's more the executives in charge caring about it. US Cartoon Network only really sees the shows as a means of advertising the CN app and app games.

I don't think this show is very good at all after seeing the new episodes.

The Mao's father episode? Called it that he was tiny and using robot armor. And I just wasn't impressed by the character, his repetitive use of "small" dialogue wore real thin. And the "heartfelt" moment felt like a parody of an actual heartfelt moment from an anime. It was all kinds of not impressive.

The imagination episode? Bad. Just bad and conflicted. At first Mao is wrong and is the villain of the episode and then for no reason he's right at the end about chaos. The writers just didn't know what they wanted to commit to.

The Female Mercenary episode (hello future BANNED furry female character because that's not allowed in Yea Forums), really now complete shit. The cunt was a total Mary Sue who Mao doesn't even best at all, she changes her mind on a flimsy reason and allows Mao to rescue his friend and said friend not appreciating Mao's efforts just made the episode grating. Like...yo this cunt wants you in prison. At least try to appreciate Mao rescuing you. Also Nintendo should sue for Mao using that sound effect from Mario Bros 3, it's the same literal sound effect.

Even though I liked the new episodes, I would say that you are right, mao mao solving his problems with his father that early and fast isn't a good sign.

He does after that scene. Honestly alot of the dad approval jokes so far have really been my biggest put off so far for the show. Though I'm self aware enough to know that's because my own father honestly doesn't seem to understand the very idea of positive reinforcement. Though he also doesn't play favorites and my sister has issues because of it too. I've come to accept the fact any form of approval from my dad at this point is basically a sign of the end times.

Though on a lighter note the whole bit in small about Mao maos full name was good.

I'm okay with that. As much as I'd like a climactic story arc where Mao is visited by each of his sisters, each one a sort of "event" into itself, all building up to meeting Shin Mao with preparation by therapy sessions with Blue, what we get instead is what the show always was: Consistently comedic without being too heavy on lore and feels bait. I loved the emotions behind the climax of Small and it's going to be hard to ever top that again, but the show isn't really built for that. It focuses on treading the line between complete cyncism and genuine vulnerability making it one of those perfectly contemporary shows without trying too hard.

I love how he was having a good time with their stupid game, profiting off of it, but also losing patience with them.

He was blushing about it so it was probably his code or the local law getting in the way of something. Like how he'd give up on Badgerclops to serve the whims of his king, he probably gave up on her.

Even taken account it being shown out of order, it felt too soon to show Shin Mao ahead of his daughters, especially if they're just gonna wrap up the conflict between him and Mao Mao in the same episode. I will say the final action scene and them making up was extremely good.

They can make gradual progress and I'd like to see him again, but chances are his sisters are going to be equal parts helpful and hurtful as they also seem to think less of him since he's the little bro always struggling to keep up. Oh and he was given a glow stick as a weapon.

They were starving and eating trash for food before, and finally when they get some of Ratarang's Mama's meatballs sent to them, Badgerclops steals a surviving bowl, bullies Orangusnake, and calls him a loser! That's true. The other pirates have had more chances to shine. I'm happy that Boss Hosstrich has gotten some of the best fight scenes and lines after Orangusnake. Even Ratarang has gotten a lot of funny Italianisms OVER HERE. Ramaraffe has some catching up to do in the character department.

Tanya is an bounty-hunter with some kind of leaf illusion magic who worked with Mao Mao. Of course she's going to be good at fleeing from someone she already knows. Mao Mao said it himself, he would've won in an actual fight. And also, Badgerclops wasn't even trying to be saved because apparently that arm of his is frying his brain.

It's annoying to me because Tanya creates the conflict just to teach him this lesson and then isn't even defeated, she just gives up. It's like she was his mom or something, taking away his toy until he behaves. I prefer when the conflict is incidental and Mao Mao's problem is just that he ignores advice. Maybe it would've been less annoying if Tanya was a more established character.

I like this a lot about the show. It not being a serial but relying on continuity has been rewarding so far, even if it's mostly inconsequential. Like the fire from Break Up is still there in Small. As for Shin, the biggest disappointment has been Mao's feelings for him when he actually showed up. It's like when he's gone he seems more eager to please him but once he's there, he shuts down and lives in constant shame and embarrassment and doesn't even try. I get it, his relationship with his father is complicated in a bad way, it just seems that all that enthusiasm for protecting the legendary Ruby Pure Heart went out the window. Either way, I'm looking forward to more Shin to at least see if there's any progress in their relationship or Mao's attitude about him.
