I've disbanded my armies, I've liberated my colonies!

> I've disbanded my armies, I've liberated my colonies!
Does anyone really think it's a good idea to balkanize the galaxy and leave it defenseless?

Yes. We have many countries in real life who are working towards having as little military as possible. Of course, the retards in real life are expecting the USA to protect them, dunno who the gems are expecting to protect them, tho. The humans?

It isn't. For the inhabitants. Colonial empires don't really care for those.

Do the gems have any threats? Rebecca said they've never colonized a planet with human/gem level intelligence before so maybe gems and humans are the only "people" in the universe?

well it's not like there's any other species too fucking fight, maybe this would be a legit concern if the most threatening thing to the gem empire wasn't 6 rebels and a kid with a dead gem leader implanted in his stomach. there just isn't any evidence of other sentient life beyond humans, especially not shit that could one v one a rando quartz soldier who can bench press buses and face tank explosions that would level a whole block.

Balkanization is always good

>Rebecca said they've never colonized a planet with human/gem level intelligence before
Then who the heck was being “colonized”?

Kinda depends on who was threatening them in the first place. Besides I'm sure they're not totally defenseless, they're probably just not straight bushing it anymore.

>they've never colonized a planet with human/gem level intelligence before
If that's the case why would they have to stop colonizing planets? Couldn't they just build some zoos for the alien plants and animals then use the planet's resources? It would be like humans staying in Africa and refusing to colonize the other continents because someday intelligent species could evolve on them. Doesn't make any sense.

>Rebecca said they've never colonized a planet with human/gem level intelligence before
What a fucking cop out. So that rules out any other alien race wanting revenge on the Diamond empire for their subjugation.

what do you think the plot is for the next season? ;)

>well it's not like there's any other species too fucking fight
There's no other species to fight on Earth. That doesn't mean they're are no wars now does it? Imagine if there was a empire that united all of earth and ruled it for as long as anyone could remember, then one day it disbanded all it's armies and divided the world into a bunch of new states. How long do you think it would be before conflicts would start up?

Colonization has more than one meaning, one of which is "the action of appropriating a place or domain for one's own use", which is use appropriately in this context.

Planets.

But, if nobody lives there, you are not appropriating it from anybody. And what is the point of leaving an empty plot of land behind? Nobody is using it, that’s just a waste.

Fuck Steven, protecting literal vacant lots.

>And what is the point of leaving an empty plot of land behind?
To leave it for animal/plant life.

Peridot spoke of new plans that allowed the use of resources while allowing animal/plant life to thrive. Whatever the hell happened to that plot line?

Taking something from someone is only one definition of appropriate. Another definition of appropriate is "to set apart for or assign to a particular purpose or use". Which again makes sense in the context it's used in the show.

>Couldn't they just build some zoos for the alien plants and animals then use the planet's resources?

It's a terrible idea. Centralized power isn't such a bad thing, if you also have accountability to the people you're ruling in the form of elections. Actually dismantling the empire and presumably leaving rule entirely in the hands of regional leadership will unquestionably lead to power struggles if not outright territorial wars.

>Rebecca said they've never colonized a planet with human/gem level intelligence before
This gets repeated ad nauseam, but I've never seen anyone link to the actual interview. There's no search results for interviews that match that either, just Yea Forums threads repeating it.

That's a lie she made up to convince Yellow.

yeah that sounds like bullshit, the gems have way too much shit designed for actual warfare for that to make any sense.

now, it DOES seem like they have no current spacefaring enemies, if they disbanded their armies and didnt even mention it being risky, which somewhat narrows down the possibilities for S6. Doesn't mean another space empire from another galaxy couldn't show up, but that just really doesn't seem like Rebecca's style of scifi writing

We do that on earth. It's not really working out.

>the gems have way too much shit designed for actual warfare for that to make any sense.
...Like what? They don't have conventional guns or bombs, and what they do have seems exclusively made to work against other gems.

Defenseless from what? They were the invading force.

lol

there working on it, hence little homeworld with the fuck huge turbine. and colony set up.

>yeah that sounds like bullshit, the gems have way too much shit designed for actual warfare for that to make any sense.

Literally every weapon we've seen them use has been something designed to fuck with other gems.

there aren't any era-1 weapons aside from gem's natural ones they could summon
the ruby "guards" didnt have anything lethal and were there more just for show
there's a big gem-tech leap from old earth gem-powered artifacts to the new shiny homeworld tech.
this tech leap was probably pushed by weapon research for PD/rose's war
bismith made the first gem-cracking weapon in era 2
diamonds didn't even know that their attack would corrupt gems in era 2
PD literally introduced war to the galaxy

>Of course, the retards in real life are expecting the USA to protect them,
This is real cringe.

t. From Ireland

We are fucked. Maybe not in the short term but def the long run (100 years or so)

>the gems have way too much shit designed for actual warfare for that to make any sense.
Weren't all of the weapons we've seen so far made for incapacitating other gems?
Like, we haven't seen there equivalents of traditional guns or tanks or things like that.
I mean, there were the light cannons but that probably only effects gem tech.

>dunno who the gems are expecting to protect them, tho. The humans?
Talk no jutsu will save them

No, but it´s Steven Universe, so it will work out. Even if it doesn´t make sense.

>Pink invented war
her crimes just keep growing.

Just as the Sneople planned. Now they can invade and take over unopposed.
