Haven't gotten anywhere since Tuesday. Something probably happened because he seemed confident that he'd be able to finish them by Wednesday, but hasn't made any progress.

My first attempt yesterday I diidn't plan anything andjust started sculpting, which was a pretty big mistake and I got some of the proportions wrong. I'll draw some sketches today and try again when I got a good idea what I want.

the problem with having a comic like this go on for 15 years is that the author has never been able to step back and brush up on his fundamentals. i only check GC every now and then because of waning quality, but holy fuck this panelling is atrocious.

I'm pretty sure he's been confusing on purpose here.
I mean, obviously, that's what's this chapter is all about.
Tom wouldn't just break the most fundamental rules of camera work for no reason at all.
If you look back at something like pic related, that was clearly an awful page with a fuckton of continuity errors, he doesn't break the 180 degree rule or EVEN the 30 degree rule. He does know these rules, clearly, so I think it's pretty easy to see the difference between laziness or honest mistakes like in pic related or purposeful confusion like in imo.

I sometimes understand when people accuse others of being autists when there are complaints about writing. Writing rules are not as strict, and who knows, maybe the platinum in Legend of Korra really IS super magic platinum that has nothing to do with platinum and everyone's a sperg for thinking about it, but stuff like the 180 degree rule is basically "if you move the camera, take all pains to make sure it is exceptionally fucking clear so the audience doesn't have to spend a second re-orienting themselves."

I'd say that good writing is more important than good visuals, but that's besides the point, I wasn't pointing out flaws of quality in that page, but objective continuity errors and I wasn't using it to complain about it in the first place, but to compare it to this page, which also has many "errors" in it, but ones I think are intentional, i.e. not errors.
