Why does Cobra have so few female soldiers and agents? Not talking about high-ranking leaders like Baroness and Zarana, but just the rank and file.

because bad guy women are hotter than good guy women and it makes for good marketing to sell toys to old dudes.

Same reason most militaries are male dominated
>Physical job
>Dangerous job
Most women aren't willing to risk their lives for money and a thrill. That being said it's easier to find female specialists than it is to find female rank and file

I can't think of many though. There's Baroness and Zarana and that night raven pilot in the cartoon. And shit uh. That alt future Zartan's daughter one but I feel the Dreadnoks barely count anyway.

They have enough female troopers to keep the organization going when the Baroness used a magic seashell to hypnotize the men.

I always figured it was a 'hard to tell when all the gear is on' type of situation.

Attached: Female Strato-Viper.jpg (720x540, 179K)

What I mean is it's easier to find a few really talented and skilled women to fill specialist roles than it is to find women to fill grunt positions, which is funny enough the opposite with men

Attached: Female Sub Commander.jpg (720x540, 202K)

Attached: Female Tele-Viper.jpg (720x540, 148K)

Because women are not allowed to be physically hurt by men in media. Imagine the bulky Joes beating up "poor" thin women. It wouldn't look good. That is why women are usually special enemies not grunts.

Attached: Female Cobra trooper11.jpg (720x540, 254K)

damn the cartoon really went for the "woman in uniform" fetishists didn't it? i mean nobody ever got shot in it so I guess female enemies made more sense

>when the flirty Tele-Viper with the sexy voice turns out to be a haggard 40yo with "speak to the manager" hair

Attached: Female Cobra trooper05.jpg (720x540, 189K)

Young men are much easier to radicalize for military terrorism than young women. Cobra probably has a lot of female nurses, strategic officers, comms people or line cooks, but other than that, not too many female combatants. Cobra Commander likely doesn't have to worry about Affirmative Action quotas, unless he can use inclusion and equality as propaganda to take in cannon fodder from around the globe.

Alright what Cobra uniforms do you think would look good on a woman?

I'm gonna vote night viper

Men get uncomfortable seeing women get hurt

In the comics (or main comic universe, at least) Cobra is very un-subtly similar to far-right militant movements (heavy on "the government has taken away your birthright, we need to reclaim this country for real Americans), mixed with a pyramid scheme to explain how they got their funding.

The type of conservatism that comic Cobra was very roughly modeled on tends to prefer women in the kitchen.

Sweet Jesus, where do I sign up to hang with such lovely paramilitary terrorist girls?

>we need to reclaim this country for real Americans
Cobra has always been an international group, most of the high command aren't Americans. Hama's origins of Cobra Commander share the raging against the government and big business that you may find in right-wing movements, but there's never been any racial element to Cobra. The lack of any prominent non-white Cobras except Storm Shadow was more due to Hasbro being afraid to make non-white villains.

that's an edit user

In a modernized run could easily add more women for the non physical grunt roles like hacking, pilots, scientist, etc. And I think there were a few named lower rank ones.

It is not. It's from the episode where some of the Joes get transported to an alternate world where Cobra won. Looks like someone discovered too late what the animators were up to so they just colored in some of her skin.

Attached: Female Cobra trooper07.jpg (720x540, 168K)

Kind of a pity, Cobra having a mix of races and ethnicities would've really sold it's "dark side of the American Dream" pitch. And opened some doors for social commentary.

So wait does she have bare legs in the episode or not?

It looks like she was suppose to have bare legs or something.

Attached: Female Cobra trooper08.jpg (720x540, 182K)

So the first one is an edit after all

Who is your Cobrafu?

COBRALLALALALALALALA

It's because women are physically weaker and don't make good soldiers and Cobra is red pulled hence their red insignia.

So, wouldn't they have more of them?

>female uniform includes an external thong

Hydro Viper gets my vote.

Is that a creature from the black lagoon trooper? Badass.

From the latest issue.

>Monster Hunter Armors

>Why are military mostly male?
Really?

Springfield

There are alot female cobras. Just not as soldiers. They are accounting, archive, inteligence. But these arms of cobra are less seen or attacked by gi joe!

Because Cobra Commander unironically think they're icky.

I don't

Thats only his ruse. He uses most as his harem!

This but also an erection

Who says we don't see them too? Faceless goon uniforms tend to be just that-a uniform that erases individuality as far as it can. Could also make them all look male.

Because they only had the one toy to make a model sheet off of
/thread

Women tend to be just as easily radicalized as men, they're just less likely to be used as cannon fodder. Granted, it's a bit skewed since most of the radicalized militants in the world tend to operated in or from paternalistic cultures, which wouldn't put women in combat roles unless necessary.

A better question would be: what Cobra uniforms wouldn't look good on a woman?

Women in an evil organization would be used as whores. If you aren't a rich backer like Baroness, only the toughest and dirtiest pussy survives such organizations. Even then, she's probably fucking mooks left and right just because she can.

Because as an evil organization they believe in fundamentally evil principles like keeping women from front-line combat.
The monsters.

Not technically Cobra, but Iron Grenadiers wouldn't really be made any hotter by having titties under all those layers of armor and pouches

Because it was a boys toy line in the 80's that they didn't initially even have faith that bad guys would sell, let alone GIRL bad guys.

It's funny you should say that, because most members of the Crimson Guard have business or law degrees from Ivy League schools and work as investment bankers and stock day traders and corporate lawyers before spending the weekend wearing red armor and being spec ops.

They're really fucking scary in that manner.

>no big mama boa
c'mon!

>Not technically Cobra, but Iron Grenadiers wouldn't really be made any hotter by having titties under all those layers of armor and pouches

There was a female Sergeant Major in the whacky GI Joe/Transformers series with Unicron. sadly she was only in like four panels but goddamn the original IG uniform looks fantastic on a gal.

Very Death Korps of Krieg ish

>love gi joe
>new comics are horrible with commies writers

Yeah, I loved the little bits of social satire in Hama's GI Joe. Like that or the whole "Make Cobra Island a sovereign nation so we can have an embassy in the middle of New York" plot. Bless that dude.

>He doesn't read ARAH

IDW's stock price is less than $20 a share, just saying.

I always prefered the Comic origins for Cobra Commander and Cobra proper.

CC blamed the government for not being able to make an honest buck, for not taking care of his brother, etc etc etc.

I really think it would be better commentary if Cobra was a multi-ethnic taking the American Dream by force organization then something that could be compared with far right militias and the like

Also, I think Cobra Commander is way more frightening and way more charismatic then he's typically portrayed.

How else could he get the likes of Destro (and by definition MARS) as well as Tomax and Xamot (who are corporate raiders themselves) if he wasn't.

>How else could he get the likes of Destro (and by definition MARS) as well as Tomax and Xamot (who are corporate raiders themselves) if he wasn't.

i thought it was he was at least that good in making money once he decided to be a villain?

Why wasn't Cobra Commander's identity plastered all over the world as soon as they met Billy?

>high heels

gross

>women
>combat

Attached: 1448938986539.png (334x483, 208K)

says a guy that got lucky that a woman didn't almost kill him.

Wow. You got him.

They just lost their comic shop sales team, so that's another log on the fire.

Part of CC's deal is that he couldn't catch a break.

He couldn't make an honest living. His brother comes back from the war, broken. Said brother gets in a car accident after having one to many drinks, and CC snaps.

The system failed, time to start over.

Coooobraaaa

Boy did you pick the wrong reaction image.

You can also see elements of the early nazi party and antifa with Cobra. Cobra Commander's secret meetings are analogous to the beer hall meetings Hitler would hold, and the nazi party emerged first as a paramilitary extremist group before they breached mainstream German politics. I'm doubtful that Antifa in particular was on Hama's mind at the time of creating Cobra since they were just one of dozens of fringe extremist groups back then, although fringe extremist groups usually have a lot in common. The weaponization of grievances against governments around the world, the secret meetings and the baclava masks are things that would have been familiar images to people in the 1980s watching the news.

Even the action figure is pretty bitchin' if I recall.

Hama is an old school lefty. I’m pretty sure he hates what they’ve become lately

MGS taught me to look at the butt.

Perhaps half of them are female, but it's hard to tell in the standard uniform.

awful

If there is one thing Hama consistently despises, it's the far-left and hypocrisy.

>women
>strategic officers
That is the position dominated by nothing except women.

Women in armor make my peepee stand to attention.

>So wait does she have bare legs in the episode or not?
As with the question of whether Zartan's wearing a hood in the cartoon or it's his hair, the answer is it's both, it changes from scene to scene.

From the original 1982 to 1994 toys, Hasbro tended to make one or two female GI Joe toys a year, stopping with Jinx in 1987. It seems like they didn't sell well, because after that, they only made one more, a second version of Scarlett.

>Yeah, I loved the little bits of social satire in Hama's GI Joe. Like that or the whole "Make Cobra Island a sovereign nation so we can have an embassy in the middle of New York" plot. Bless that dude.
Or the USA choosing to back Serpentor over the second Cobra Commander in the Cobra Civil War, "supporting a constitutional monarchy against a fascist dictatorship".

The Ninja Force one? I was almost sure there was a Jinx on it, too.

Probably one of my fav designs

Attached: hydroviper.jpg (434x694, 274K)

Should we nominate Baroness for Miss Yea Forums? Perhaps Evil-Lyn?

damn, i want a female one

This, and entirely this. America loves violence, but not against women. It's okay for a woman TO SHOOT lasers, it's not okay for women TO BE SHOT AT with lasers.

Shit taste desu

Cobra, Shocker, Chronos, Hydra, and Zeon are cool as hell. Real talk, I would join. Hell, I support the Empire from Legends of Galactic Heroes.

but you're not a qt grill

Why would they risk such valuable employees for combat roles? I assume that most Cobra soldiers have a HS diploma, are drop outs or never went to school at all. Ivy League business and law majors don't drop out of the sky, especially in regards to willingly joining a terrorist group.

You have to have a law or business degree to become a Crimson Guard, not necessarily an Ivy League one, and you don't have to have one before joining Cobra. Also, Crimson Guard are specifically undercover operatives and Cobra Commander's personal guard.

The Crimson Guard are the Elite of the Elite when it comes to Cobra.

Also they finance the organization. More then that, it's headed by the Twins Tomax and Xamot, who are corporate raiders when they aren't being terrorists.

It's why they're so scary. They're highly trained military operatives and highly educated civilians.

In the comic, CC made a point of revealing this to rest of Cobras command structure. Crimson Guard have high paying jobs, families, and live in gated communities.

No one would suspect a thing!

Casual violence against women is taboo in Western culture, especially male on female violence. Ergo if the story wants to toe the line then it will avoid situations where the heroes wantonly slaughter women.

less shitposts more cobra qties pls

Here you go user. The Cobra Cuties.

Boys at the time of the original run wouldn't want to buy female action figures because they'd be called dolls.

>The Ninja Force one? I was almost sure there was a Jinx on it, too.
She would have made sense for the Ninja Force, but it seems she didn't get a second toy until 2003, after the line had relaunched.

And they tend to be called Fred.

>old dudes
Haha
