When's season 3?!

Hopefully it never sees the light of day

Mm yes sucks

Apparently Netflix wasn't too happy with the finished product and ordered several episodes to be redone.

Netflix has quality control? What? I would never buy that, I am likely to believe Ehasz wasn't too happy with s3 than guys who picked up Neo Yokio and Another Life.

What a slut.

really? Where did you hear that?

Accept your trash for what it is faggot

Sauce me please I beg of you, there's no thread in /y/

Remember.
This is only good for ATLA-widows.
Just like TLOK

You saying people can't love trash?

>This show sucks balls

Something I'm sure you can relate to, OP

I enjoy it :( The second season a little more than the first. The characters seem to friendly with eachother, considering they haven't known eachother all that long. I guess they're trying to capture the same energy as the Avatar gang but it's just not the same.

>I guess they're trying to capture the same energy as the Avatar gang but it's just not the same.

The main issue of the Dragon Prince is that it doesn't do a good job of explaining why it's these kids who have to be the ones saving the world instead of literally anyone else or why their method of saving the world is even preferable. The Last Airbender is fantastical to the extreme but it makes logical sense why the starting hero and the villain are a bunch of kids. Aang is THE Avatar, Katara is the last remaining Water Bender, Sokka needs to protect his sister. There are also literally no one able bodied around to help the Aang except for Sokka and Katara. Zuko a 12 year old Prince is hunting for the Avatar, as a form of punishment from his father.

The Dragon Prince doesn't have these logical explanations for this fact.

Why is an unblooded novice part of the most significant assassination mission in recent Elven history?
Why send Assassins to do it when you could literally just send a Dragon to nuke the place?
Why is a retarded 18 year old, who can't even follow the basic instruction of "This Moth leads to Moonshadow Elves", the Captain of the Royal Guard?
How does one Prince having literal photographic memory and the other being able to talk to animals not get recognized until the events of the show. WHY are they able to do those things?

They really did cram the "everyone is very special" into the later bits of S2 didn't they.

Source?

>Why is a retarded 18 year old, who can't even follow the basic instruction of "This Moth leads to Moonshadow Elves", the Captain of the Royal Guard?
Nepotism?
But that was pretty fucking dumb.

What episode is this?

See that would be a good and perfectly valid excuse, but that's never said to be the case. It's implied Soren is a damn good fighter and that sole fact seems to carry his rank without question. It doesn't make sense though. They KNOW retribution for killing the Dragon King is coming, and the best person they can pick to defend the King's life and the life of his Son is a half wit? Viren didn't trust Soren to get the Egg and yet he was trusting him with his King and best friend's life? Even though Viren himself displays intense animosity to his perception of Callum's own rank being born out of Nepotism?

but they are shiny balls, so it's alright.

We had one a few months ago but there isnt that much content so it died off...

>Why is an unblooded novice part of the most significant assassination mission in recent Elven history?
Nepotism. It was a bad choice but PLOT.

>Why send Assassins to do it when you could literally just send a Dragon to nuke the place?
They don't want to kill all the humans, they want to kill the king and prince. Equal trade, all life is precious, etc. They even say as much during their whole assassination startup ritual thing

>Why is a retarded 18 year old, who can't even follow the basic instruction of "This Moth leads to Moonshadow Elves", the Captain of the Royal Guard?
He did follow it, the elves were just literally invisible. Should he have started hacking at the trees assuming the moth wasn't just being a moth? And his dumbassery is largely a joke. He is fairly competent when the tone is attempting to be serious.

>How does one Prince having literal photographic memory and the other being able to talk to animals not get recognized until the events of the show. WHY are they able to do those things?
What use would either of those things provide their lifestyles? Why does an eidetic memory need an explanation? That's a thing humans have irl. Ezran's animal whispering, I'll give you that.

Attached: claudia_by_marina_shads_dd03dn5-fullview.jpg (800x800, 91K)

I never see this shit but...
>Nepotism. It was a bad choice but PLOT
Nah, that shit sounds like a quick gay argument to put a problem & that's pathetic.
>They don't want to kill all the humans, they want to kill the king and prince. Equal trade, all life is precious, etc. They even say as much during their whole assassination startup ritual thing
Man, if you tame Dragons you can control the fire that throws and basically that thing would be the same. That point sounds literally a melodramatic excuse to lengthen a very bad arc.
>He did follow it, the elves were just literally invisible. Should he have started hacking at the trees assuming the moth wasn't just being a moth? And his dumbassery is largely a joke. He is fairly competent when the tone is attempting to be serious.
The last thing you wrote is the poor shit. Never do something serious in a character that never shows it or viceversa.
>What use would either of those things provide their lifestyles? Why does an eidetic memory need an explanation? That's a thing humans have irl. Ezran's animal whispering, I'll give you that.
God. This comment sounds like more a opinion than a argument. If the character does not show a good memory before you can not simply use the plot device.
It's basic storytelling and this shit fails completely.
And the Asami rip-off.
Yeah, Eschasz probably wrote a TLOK fanfic and Claudia is literally his version.
Very fucking sad, if you ask me

the wannabe Iago villain guy is hot but i didn't really care about the rest of it
based

>And the Asami rip-off.
>Yeah, Eschasz probably wrote a TLOK fanfic and Claudia is literally his version.
Her and Soren are clearly Zuko & Azula expys. Ehasz has a fetish for bro/sis narratives

>Ehasz has a fetish for bro/sis narratives
I really feel bad for him.
It's interesting how without the original double wonder they are literally mediocre compared to their previous work.

I gotta be honest, you seem retarded.

That's the only single line you can write?
Anyway, i'm less retarded than the whole cartoon story

>Man, if you tame Dragons you can control the fire that throws and basically that thing would be the same
What? They don't take dragons, the dragons rank above them, and why would you think a firebreathing seige engine would be more precise than an assassin?

>precise
>Only king and price
Ok, in a hypothetical case: taming a dragon, you're the rider; go to the castle, burn the throne room if they're there.
The Assassins can work in that scenario if they say true information of their daily movements.
I'm still saying that shit without raw power is a melodramatic excuse.
You must reinforce the title of your product with something logical.

>taming a dragon
You keep saying this. Dragons are sapient. They rank above elves. You don't tame them and they don't need riders.

>Just burn the throne room lol
That's not how fire works user. You set a building on fire it's going to keep burning. It won't care what room is what or who is in them.

>The Assassins can work in that scenario if they say true information of their daily movements.
The point of the assassins that turn invisible is to not be seen. Why are they swooping in on a fuckhuge dragon?

Shit man everything you're proposing would make this situation even more melodramatic

>Shit man everything you're proposing would make this situation even more melodramatic
That's the actual whole idea
Ok, i'm literally glad to talk with you.
See you.

>If the character does not show a good memory before you can not simply use the plot device.
The artist gimmick exists solely to show the audience that Callum has always had an eidetic memory

>idiot screams and cries that his headcanon is badly written
Fascinating.

I really can't tell if you were baiting or genuinely have some mental defect

maybe stop watching children's cartoons

Viren and his dumb kids are my favorite.

Feels rather hollow? I don't know, I feel like there are a lot of things missing in it to make it a good story too.
It's like they had a concept of the World they wanted to created and its concept; then they had an idea for a general story and themes, and a overarching plot after the first two things but they didn't bother to connect any of them or fill in the gaps and thicken everything.

If there could be a TV Series/Animated TV Series that was a Tech Demo, this would be it.

I think they're going to announce it at NYCC. The official twitter posted something about the panel covering S3 and beyond.

>Dark Magic is evil!
>Why?
>It's just evil. It's in the name, Dark Magic!
>It sucks pretty hard to be a weak human with no magic surrounded by bullying dragons and elves. Come on, we'll just kill a few flowers and maggots.
>EXILED!

Soren is the only who gave Rayla a challenge in a fight.

A long boring journey: the show.

I want elves to take me prisoner and put me in a pillory, every day both the men and women of the village taking turns to do anything they please to my eternally exposed anus and genitalia.

kill the king and prince and literally anyone who sees them. Less people would have died with a tactical nuke (dragon). Strike the king's tower and done.

Nobody was supposed to know they were coming, but Rayla fucked up the plan. "Anyone who sees them" would've ideally been like 5 people. A dragon torching the castle would've killed like half the occupants of not everyone

Race traitor

This

>Treat humans like a lesser race because they can't use magic
>Humans learn magic
>"HOW FUCKING DARE YOU TRY TO BE EQUAL, GO BACK TO BEING A MUD MONKEY OR I GENOCIDE YOU"
>"No"
>Give dragon a slight burn when he tries to murder thousands of innocents
>Elves all completely freak out and exile your entire race
>Still act like humans are the bad guys in this because "their magic is wrong!"
All Xadia fucking shits get the rope

Avatar: The Last Airbender is generally recognized as a remarkably good animated series. Let's start with the assumption that it was indeed good.

The guys behind the concept were Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino. They went on to make The Legend of Korra, a show which infuriates Yea Forums with good cause... but it still had the best characters, designs, and storytelling of any of the successors to Avatar. I'm not saying that as a very high compliment.

Aaron Ehasz, former head writer for Avatar, personally scripted some of the strongest eps, and went on to create what is (so far) the second-worst of the successor series. He put a lot of life into Zuko, insisting that the character couldn't have a "redemption" until first sinking WAY lower than originally intended. But in the Dragon Prince the characters have been extremely flat, and frankly Viren's anger is more than justified at this point, but the story keeps trying to frame it otherwise. In two "seasons" the main characters have managed to... walk to the border of the elven lands. Water nearly killed them, twice, and they had to deal with bumbling siblings trying (not very hard) to capture/kill them. Once.

And lastly there's Joaquim Dos Santos and
Lauren Montgomery who also worked on Avatar. Then they did Voltron: Legendary Defender together. It had a decent start, then managed to screw the pooch so hard you could write entire papers analyzing all the ways they totally fucking failed on every single damn level possible, including throwing in what very well may have been the biggest deus ex machina ending ever written in English. "Oh, I can remake the multiverse from scratch. Sorry for never showing anything like that power level before."

It's odd that such a strong show as Avatar has led to this crop of successors.

Fuck dragons. I can't wait to see Sol Regem get his shit wrecked in HD next season.

I won't speak to Voltron but the issue with Korra and Dragon Prince is that they are kinda each separate halves of a complete series (Avatar). Bryke understand how to design an interesting world and flesh it out with some extremely compelling characters, but are really bad at plotting coherent stories, whether overall arching plotlines or individual character arcs. Aaron is really good at plotting to a meticulous degree, but without the lively settings and concepts Bryke introduce his works feel stale and lifeless. The issue isn't that the cast of DP *don't* have development, it's that any development they get is really hard to get invested in because the ideas being introduced aren't particularly compelling to begin with. I like some of the characters in the cast don't get me wrong but it is *really* obvious that Aaron was The Sokka Guy for most of TLA's run, and the further he tries to branch out from quirky sokka characters and quirkier sokka foils the more he struggles to make characters worth giving half a damn about.

It's basically a fucking expert course in why writers NEED to understand their weak spots and, if they're working on a team, get people on board who can cover for those weak spots.

Attached: D6ZrwOWXoAUvl-U.jpg (729x800, 76K)

It amazed me that - so far - fucking SHE-RA is better than any of those three shows. The revamp of a for-girls spinoff of an 80s toy phenomenon that's never managed to recapture a fraction of its old success.

Would not have fucking predicted that.

This man knows

Where this from?

Season 3 release when?

They're announcing it at NYCC.

>They went on to make The Legend of Korra, a show which infuriates Yea Forums with good cause... but it still had the best characters,
The characters was one of the show's biggest flaws. Korra took three seasons to gain any character growth, bolin and mako both spent the same time flip flopping around in character direction, asami never stopped being completely flat, every villain danced between nonsensical and comically maniacal, and the whole bei Fong family drama was a washer, largely due to bad characterizations. Even Aang's family had underwhelming characterizations.
Korra had style, but characters it did not.

>It's odd that such a strong show as Avatar has led to this crop of successors.
Because it wasn't as good as you remember. Seriously sit down and watch it again; you'll see how often it could be just like any silly, shallow cartoon. But because it was one of the few good, plot driven shows in a time western animation was withering it was praised as the second coming of Christ. The way they ended it should've really warned people of what was to come in any successors

>I like some of the characters in the cast don't get me wrong but it is *really* obvious that Aaron was The Sokka Guy for most of TLA's run
And yet his best stuff is with Zuko. Its weird how much comic relief he's put in the cast despite that

>The further he tries to branch out from quirky sokka characters and quirkier sokka foils the more he struggles to make characters worth giving half a damn about.
Viren is the most popular character though, except maybe the waifus. The sillier characters are actually the less interesting ones.

Honestly I think DP's main problems are that it's moving like molasses (though it's probably important to mention that both it's seasons combined have been less episodes than Avatar's season 1) and that it's trying to play around with a murky unreliable narrative, but delivering it in a fairly shallow, kid friendly way, so you end up with this wierd bipolar feeling where the show is trying to justify both sides at once yet doing a poor job of defending either. I kinda think the show is just holding back major bits of lore that'll make everything come together once revealed, but I also know hope generally just leads to disappointment when it comes to these things, so I'll just reserve judgement until it feels like this show has actually gotten past it's prologue

as a show it means well and tries hard but it's painfully obvious there's no storytelling talent behind it, it just ends up boring and derivative. Real shame cause I enjoyed the art style.

The only good thing about it is Claudia

Brapqueen a shit

In days of yore Warhammer Fantasy had a MMO. It had some pretty neat little mechanics, but it also came with a comic miniseries to set up the factions and introduce newcomers to the lore.
The orc and gobbo are OCs for the game but they have proved to be quite popular.

Level with me, Yea Forums. How much has the fujoshits ruined everything by hyperfocusing on the guys fucking or lusting after some old dude or whatever?

We’ll have to see, I think. So far I can’t recall any obvious ways that they’ve encouraged them, but for all I know they’re waiting for the next season to unload it.
Aaron does have the benefit of seeing how badly pandering to shippers fucked up Korra, so if he does include any of it, he’s at least got a chance of being aware enough to not go full retard.

It's not the shippers which are shit, but the fujos.
