I was watching the last episode of Batman Beyond (set in 2040) when Superman called the new Batman to the Justice League, looking for a traitor.Turned out he was the traitor all along. However when they had to confront him, some alien parasite gush out of his neck and I was kind of disappointed.
With The Boys we explored what happens with toddler and even baby super heroes. They can harm people without realizing it. Teen super heroes is a them already exploited.
But what about very old super heroes? It's not like they will all loose their super power when they turn 60. So, what if Superman got alzheimer? Not something you can cure like with an hallucinating gas, right?
He's fucking Superman. You can dunk him in acid with a plutonium dildo up his ass and he'll be fine. Why do you assume he's susceptible to DNA damage that is aging?
Nicholas Powell
With the amount of kryptonite he has been exposed to? Not even a little cancer?
Henry Howard
It's not a theme worth exploring
Jayden Gomez
Kryptonite for a kryptonian is obviously not the same as radiation for a human. A human doesn't immediately get weak when exposed to uranium and doesn't become completely fine as soon as the uranium is removed.
Jack Smith
If his mind was aging and failing like that it'd suggest he'd be physically aging too, so he'd be weaker than usual and someone else would be able to take care of him if it became a problem.
Chase Bell
>bank robbery in progress >people in ski masks are shoveling money into bags >"It's a bird!" >"No, it's a plane!" >"Fuck, it's that senile coot Superman! He's going to do our "skiing club" a favor and drop us of in the Alps again, and he won't take "no" for an answer!"
Samuel Nguyen
I'm reminded of the Batman Beyond scene with Bane in the old folks home hooked up to a life support wheelchair and barely conscious because of the long term effects of venom.
Brandon Diaz
You know... There is always a overlapping between strongh enough to do harm and old enough to not be mentally aware of what you do.
Thanks to our sun he'll never get these. On the other hand I love the idea of grandpa Supes with a rocking beard.
Caleb Howard
>What happens when he goes senile?
They covered a similar topic pretty well in the movie Logan. Charles has to be sedated 100% of the time and kept out in the middle of no where.
Otherwise his powers freeze time and melt the brains of anyone within a 10 mile radius, the one time he wasn't sedated he killed an entire town of people and almost did again while they were on the run
It's something a movie like this could have explored. Unfortunately it's just a cheap comedy and they already show the plot twist in the trailer anyway
Camden Barnes
Its more that he can paralyze living things by preventing their brains from working
Carter Sanders
Most earth animals don't go senile, why would a human weakness extend to krypton?
Lincoln Sullivan
>With The Boys we explored what happens with... Blah blah blah. What is it with people treating that goddamn Ennis show as gospel now? Get real, edgelord nonsense isn't an example of good storytelling.
Easton Wood
>show
Jacob Roberts
Yes, the show because the comic book has existed for years and nobody gave a fuck, let alone considered it a good deconstruction of anything.
Hunter Bell
Thanks to the sun it will be anywhere between a thousand to a million years before he remotely gets close to middle aged, and he'll still be healthy.
Julian Flores
I'd say Batman is sooner to lose his marbles, considering how many blows to the head he's taken over the years.
Eli Brown
There is a comic like that but it really sucks.
James Jenkins
ITT >N-NUH-UH!
Carter Perry
>It could take years to find out that DOOM had dies or gone senile because of his use of Doombots. >Dementia regresses him to a happier time and he just dodders around his castle with a bunch of half finished projects laying around >Has all the mirrors taken out because he's afraid of the scarred man >"Richards? I think I went to school with a Richards, I went to University in America you know"
Camden Adams
Why wouldn't it?
Blake Clark
So this is the power of fa/tv/irgins
Lincoln Smith
>With The Boys we explored what happens with toddler and even baby super heroes. If you'd read the comicbook, you would know that they explored old Golden Age supes going out of their mind. But you simply do not read comics, do you, Yea Forums nigger?
I browse Yea Forums almost exclusively, try again.
Adrian Ramirez
If you'd actually read my commentarry you'd realize I specifically talked about supes going senile AND doing harm to others. But the second you read "The Boys", your cumbrain get high on dopamine and you instantly felt the need to boast about your internet reputation. Did youeven have enough attention to read until the end of my post?
Ryder Carter
>supes going senile AND doing harm to others was done by the comicbook three times with resurrected supes > cumbrain nice buzzword, reddit.
Christopher Edwards
And you never saw The Boys threads before the tv show. Sure thing.
Luis Jenkins
Saw a few, they still were edgelord tier nonsense. Pretty "based" rape and sociopathy. None of that is proper deconstruction, just the typical childish Ennis garbage.
Grayson Lewis
One could figure that since the yellow sun keeps his body in such superhuman physique it also keeps him in good health against mental issues.
And if he does go senile they could just gold kryptonite or redsunlight him till he was not a danger.
Ryan Martinez
Animals don't go senile because they die before that you moron
Camden Moore
Thats the reason why Lex Luthor is the perfect archnemesis to Superman. You dont beat him with strength but mind. His morality and kindness. And that is the reason why superman never can defeat war or famine. Not everything canbe solved with punching and shooting laser.
And if he gets old, he will not do that much harm. He is kind and patient in his persona, dso he will be a strong senile men, but as long someone isnt stressing him, nothing will happen. Maybe if we have a Lex Luthor that tricks him into believing he does something good, he might be harmfull to society.
Jackson Ward
>Valeria still comes to visit him
Evan Bailey
>Ennis edgy and bad me no like Sounds like a Yea Forumstard to ke
Ian Murphy
No, I simply don't have shit taste. Sounds like the kind of retard who would unironically enjoy Millar too.
Daniel Myers
Who are some of your favorite creators mate?
Jackson White
Morrison, Ewing, Starlin and Gruenwald. Now rip them apart, since you seem eager to do just that.
Adam Smith
He would simply retire.
Dominic Morgan
Now that you've mentioned it, I can't help but post the cover.
They do. There are old cats that get senile. Dogs who get blind and leak water. Old seals who get blind. Or parrots who get dementia.
Henry Taylor
Oh, what the heck, I'll post the whole thing. Keep in mind that this is actually a sequel to Kamandi at Earth's end. So, some parts of this make even less sense without that context.
>He is kind and patient in his persona, Do you know the story of the old lady who drowned her grandchild she was watching over because she forget who she was?
He said Alhzeimer's, not senility. And he is kinda right but not really. There are not that many studies done on the matter, but so far we know that A) other animals have conditions similar to Alhzeimer's and B) for some reason it is nowhere near as bad as it gets on us humans.
>for some reason it is nowhere near as bad as it gets on us humans. Wild animals don't have to remember their connections to other beings in order to function, they only have to remember the instinct to hunt.
And that's all. This shit is terrible yet never fails to make me laugh. I especially love the anit-gun message in a comic where guns literally helped solve the problem.
You knew what I meant you faggot, stop being facetious
Robert Fisher
What makes you think Superman is even going to age?
Jose Baker
One good comic that does this is Superman Secret Identity (last issue that is). An Elseworlds title dealing with a ridiculous fourth wall premise, and making it work.
Nah I like all those guys, I just am not really sure how you can think Ennis is too edgy while liking Starlin and Ewing. Ennis is also a significantly better character writer than all of them. Ewing and Gruenwald have never written anything as good as Hitman or Ennis' Hellblazer either. Don't add up
Isaiah Cook
Neither Starlin nor Ewing are edgy and childish like Ennis, and wow, claiming he's superior to all of these, just won't even comment on that. Ridiculous.
Jaxson Phillips
I AM A MAN
Blake Powell
Why not just kill the man at this point?
Carson Thompson
Jesus christ, this art
Jason Perry
Man, this is literally vargBoomer.
Cooper Young
not what was aked, but we appreciate the effort it was an interesting dump thank you
Aiden Peterson
Why would humans be the only race that experiences cellular degeneration?
Ryan Hughes
I'd imagine that if Superman knew his mind was failing to where he could be a danger to others, he'd probably just fly off into an empty part of the universe and wait to die.
Christopher Jackson
If his mind began to go he would ask to be brought to a world with a red sun to live out his last days in peace on a farm with a robot programed as Lois
Josiah Russell
Thanks for the read. It was actually fun and I like this Supe's look.
Noah Howard
thanks for the dump user, what a shit fucking show though
John Scott
Bruh... Thanks for the share though.
Landon Ward
>alzheimer or something Your mind doesn't go immediately. Superman would stop himself in one way or another before he really losses it
David Richardson
Or hit himself with one of the many De-Powering plot devices and live the rest of his days as doddering old Clark Kent who occasionally believes he's Superman. Because Logan doesn't want to. I'm pretty sure when Charles was Lucid he asked him to.
