Do you guys think it will be better to make a genre focused chart for recs or just post a chart following a particular personality archetype and let people rec based on that archetype?

I could not imagine a more insufferable person to hang around than you based off that chart. Your entire personality is contrarianism. Get a fucking grip, dude
Those are all accessible albums.

How is my chart contrarian in the slightest? I literally have some of the most popular Yea Forumscore and scarufficore albums on it

i haven't seen that grandaddy album in a long time. that bowery electric though appears to be new Yea Forumscore it's a staple in these threads. have you ever listened to the veldt?
gotta love combatwounded veteran. 100 gecs is a bit of a non sequitur though.
i recommend you contribute next time
don't recognise most of these. is that burial in the top right there? i think miles has better electric records like get up with it or on the corner.
interesting colour coding, interesting that you'd put stock in compilations, interesting (and correct) steely dan choice, interesting interesting interesting
i remain flabbergasted by a chart with rhapsody, debussy & ravel, casket of dreams and larry young on it.

Yeah these are just some old and new favorites I was enjoying recently. Didn't think too hard about it. I listen to a wide range of genres but I do tend to enjoy similar musical qualities across those genres. I think I just like stuff that primarily sets a mood or landscape.
At a certain point you've heard so much shit that a) it can't exactly be compared and b) it meant different things to you at different times in your life so you can't really make a single, focused top 100. Sometimes I make a chart like this or just a genre chart. Seems like you're at the same place as me.
> I think I just like stuff that primarily sets a mood or landscape.
you and me both, mate
>you can't really make a single, focused top 100
i don't think such a thing exists anyway. after 25 albums the point of the chart starts to erode. it's not the elite banner albums of your life, just a collection of albums you thought were good.
>Sometimes I make a chart like this or just a genre chart. Seems like you're at the same place as me.
it certainly looks like a genre chart, but those are my overall picks. i listen to various different kinds of music but, to be honest, i do think ambient and new age of a certain stripe is as good as it gets. i could score "musical tourism" points and list albums i think are substantially worse, but i genuinely believe that an enormous, exceptional epoch shattering album in just about any other style really only comes up to about half the quality of an even quite moderate vintage new age album
i love you

I'm gonna go through your chart by the way. The ones I don't know. I'm more into 90s new age and 90s ambient trance type stuff inspired by it and I'd like to get deeper into 80s new age. It's just been harder for me to get into because of the whole cassette-only thing. I like to own albums and with most stuff like that it gets depressing that I'll never own it on CD or at all. I actually haven't even had a digital music library for almost 5 years now lol so thats part of the reason why I haven't gotten to truly diving deep into it beyond listening or sampling some stuff on youtube.
well i'm quite the opposite, and australian anyway so have long given up the hope of having a physical media library which wasn't largely the expense of having to ship it internationally.
i can't say i understand your reluctance about digital media, but i would encourage you to check this music out even without a physical copy. it deserves to be heard, and that's the great part about the permanency of the internet.
It's not so much reluctance but I just really haven't had the need for it. I guess I do doubt the "permanence" of the internet though. And hard drives. Also just don't like being online for extended periods of time so most of the time my PC is packed away.
the permanency of the internet in that it gives new means to broadcast things which didn't have the scope and reach before, they were once transient and finite and now have this permanence.
>Also just don't like being online for extended periods of time
well you don't necessarily need to be online to enjoy digital music. you can treat your device as a media player in those instances.
based, just started listening to the Velvet Underground this evening, loving Heroin
Structures of Silence is my go-to sleeping music. Check out Tangerine Dream's Phaedra and Rubycon
listen to the other two 90's CT albums

awesome albums. rubycon missed out on my chart, besides froese is already on there.
you'd like kitty's frostbite and elektrinika by reni jusis
Most important albums for me personally
decent picks but you gotta be more assertive about your favourites. they're not just "important albums for you personally" but the best fuckin' records ever and fuck anyone who disagrees, cos they're a pleb and they don't know shit.
bump
would appreciate recommendations, havent listened to much music
you say that but you got better taste than most in here.
that being said, your chart is one of them "too diverse for its own good" dealies, so i really wouldn't even know where to begin suggesting you stuff. just check the essentials chart, i guess.
You're not supposed to spill the tea try hard. Can't expect much from a retard still clinging to a dead forum subculture where all the relevant players long fucked off or died and the biggest tripfag was a cringe waifuposter who admitted in his last thread he was abandoning the music to be a normalfag. You exist to get baited.
>spill the tea
>implying that everyone here doesn't already know scaruffi/mu-core
I mean about try harding. You're supposed to insist on being a snowflake. Way to interpret everything wrong you stupid tramp.
>spill the tea about try harding
you are going in assuming I am even try harding in the first place (and not just listing albums I like) and seething at your own head cannon.
This poster wins the argument.
You literally admitted it you gurgling baby. Also it's spelled canon poser.
Admitted what that these are the albums I like? Lol don't even bother replying you've already lost. Stop making yourself look worse with all this cope.
