>"Aren't I reliving every awful thing that's ever happen to me: A gem I barely know is trying to kill me, I'm paying for stuff my mom did that has nothing to do with me, I'm strugglin with my power, the world is about to end...What piece could I be missing, this is the story of my life!"
Being Steven is suffering.

>hasn’t it always been hard to be us
Bismuth is fucking stupid it’s really only hard to be Steven, I actually feel bad for the kid

Poor fella. His mom’s a douche.

I really wish with all the horseshit she's thrown at him that they'd give him a ep where he could actually talk to Rose (not the hologram) using his gem. We've already had Rose be shit, but I want someone to actually tell her that to her real face.

He could always just kill himself and have his gem reform him if he really wanted to end it.

Is suicide always the best option for you guys?

Honestly at this point I hope any future villain(s) he will have in season 6 have nothing to do with Pink, he shouldn’t have to keep dealing with her shit for the rest of his life.

fuck that was an annoying scene

If it were me, I'd just leave Beach City after having to put up with so much bullshit. Just leave and start somewhere new.

I was really hoping he’s shoot like a Ki blast at the Injector to destroy it, still, bubble boxing gloves were cool.

How? it was the show acknowledging that the entire story of Steven is just "Kid gets fucked over royally by his sociopathic mom"

Really dug how much more assertive he was in the movie. Definitely felt like a proper evolution from his younger self and I tried imagining the original Steven doing all the stuff with Spinel and it just didn't click. Aging him up was just what the story needed.

He forgot to mention the part where he sings a song and the situation instantly resolves itself, with the villain then being forgiven for all prior misdeeds

Spinel trying to rule him up was awesome, made me question if Steven really did wanna hurt her.

This one was trying to get suicide by cop.
>"Won't you puff me, motherfucker. shatter me, you asshole"

I think that he can't confront his mom is what's actually good about the whole dynamic

first time he has a good reason to cry and fights instead
how come the movie did everything the show did wrong right?

pink was the worst thing to ever happen to gem kind so i dobut it

he obviously did because thats human, anyone would want to hurt someone who did that shit to his friends
but he knew he just wanted all this shit to stop and didnt want to do the same think his mom would have done and all he had to do was talk that fucking retard into stopping

Oh Steven's fine. He's never lost anyone and has loyal friends from day 1. The only thing he's "suffered" was a series of challenges to overcome and some patronizing aunts.

>villain then being forgiven for all prior misdeeds
nobody got hurt
lapiz and bismuth did worse

You know e's probably going to outlive every human family and friend he has, right?

>I've still yet to win an Emmy or any notable cartoon accolade, my heavily advertised for a year long ad campaign movie pulled lower ratings than the average Clincoln McLoud episode, and a mysterious psychotic brown haired girl my age with braces and a ponytail is throwing me in a garbage can laughing while telling bad jokes!"

we don't need Steven to recount all that, we've seen it. it sounded annoying. He was whining to a gem who spent six thousand years willingly immobile he needed a little perspective. Right after Steven pretty much admitted he was being pitiful throughout the movie "I want my happily ever after back!" and toughened up.

at least he got to fuck his dad

I like how even his punches are defensive with the shield/bubble gloves. Guy's been working on his pacifism.

Intent matters, and she tried to drop him off the 100ft injector. Speaking of, it's still ambiguous how badly the Earth was poisoned (but the important thing is she brought enough to kill it entirely)

Eh, he can just kiss it better

Spinel Is the most Loyal friend she waited until the end, and would’ve been satisfied just to see pink again after 6,000 years. The charecter was a soul test if you didn’t feel for heryou have no soul.

It's easy for Steven to "redeem" an antagonist when they don't do anything permanent, if Spinel's goo killed someone anyone it could have even been someone Steven barely interacts with like Suitcase Sam than it'd be a way more complicated situation. I don't know how Steven would rationalize trying to reach out to a gem who did something such as this; he's on easy Kids Cartoon mode.

Yeah but if you put it like that then the show turns out to not have any villains. Lapis, Jasper, the Diamonds, etc, all that shit that could either be rationalized or reversed, so it turns out nobody is beyond redemption (except Kevin, and even then there's still S6)

it was pretty apparent she just wanted to get hurt again
thats how mental ilness werks

Fuck Pink Diamond

Rebecca did say we should expect a new show when she continues SU. If this new Steven is the lead, I’m so down for that.

>He could always just kill himself and have his gem reform him if he really wanted to end it.
What actually would happen if Steven killed himself?
It's confirmed that Pink's gone, his pink gemself needs his fleshself.
Would the new thing be half human still?
Would it be a blank pink diamond?

Depends on the method I suppose

Why would the final season suddenly take on a different tone if people are already attached to the show and characters as they are now? Is she trying to pull a Battle Network 6?

If he willingly aged himself to death, his gem would probably just stop working.

That's a metal way to go.

>Being Steven is suffering.
And yet he's a "SJW Mary Sue"?
Has "Mary Sue" lost it's meaning?

The Movie could be a transition point I guess.

Well, THEN he'll suffer. But for now he's fine.

Naruto called, he said "Grow some balls bitch"

People would call good old GI Joe a Sue this day because they're the good guys, represent virtue and always win.

The movie itself opened with a song about how Steven is some galactic messiah. Despite whatever suffering he might go through, things will always go right for him in the end

Idk if Mary Sue would be the right term, but he's comparable to someone like Goku in rarely/never being wrong and never losing

What are you talking about? Naruto was the biggest crybaby in his village.

>Rebecca: The thing about Steven Universe is that it's a coming of age story. And this is something that he had to figure out in order to start making decisions for himself. And throughout the show it's actually been very difficult to write Steven, because he puts others in front of himself, and his motivations are so tied in with what he thinks other people want, what he thinks his mother would have wanted, what he thinks the gems want, who he thinks he's supposed to be, and this is where we finally break that all that down, he can't be distracted by any sort of "supposed to", it doesn't exist for him, and he doesn't have to be what other people want or expect him to be, that's what he needed to find.
>Ian JQ: I don't think it's a spoiler to say that this specific arc of Steven, 'Change Your Mind' definitively makes a definitive statement on Steven and who he is and what he thinks he is. And how he feels about it. And moving forward from now, it's going to be different.
>Rebecca; Everything will be different.
>Ian JQ: Everything will be different. I really hope that if you're the kind of person who is waiting to watch like more stuff, is that you don't think of the break between "Change Your Mind" and what comes next, as like, you're waiting for more of THIS show, because this version of it is done, there's going to be more, but it's going to be different and it's going to be something new. There's a lot more to do. But, we're not coming back here, because Steven has really figured something out about himself. So this part of the story, you know, that's it.

with pleasure

Based

>Pull a Battle Network 6
Meaning what?

So Steven Universe Z?

Looks like

You like a gem that nearly committed mass genocide over their feelings but hate a figure that saved it. What drugs are you on?

If he did confront his mom in the gem that would make the whole scene of “SHES GOOOONNNNNNEEEE” a lie

So just a regular protagonist

It took a second watching for me to realize the last of the goo was spurted out over the surface, reducing the overall saturation damage.

But I still want to know how a gem who had no idea what had been going on outside for 6000 years not only got the coordinates to earth, but was able to find a lethal weapon, a reset code, and move all of this TO earth in under 24 hours.

False, being someone who doesn't like this shitty show is suffering.

>didn't start trying to sing the Cookie Cat theme while sobbing
missed opportunity

Attached: Cookie Cat.png (1192x632, 732K)

being Pink's tax avoidance scheme is the sole reason he exists so he's probably shit out of luck there

That was the last episode I ever watched to completion of this terrible show. They should have kept it quirky and light hearted. Oh well.

Is Spinel supposed to be an incel?

Attached: 1457715194432.png (600x450, 155K)

It was the first episode.

people seem to forget that season 1 was basically a marathon relay of steven suffering both physical and existential horror.

Frybo, Cat Fingers, Rose's Room, Steven and the Stevens... A lesser kid would have been catatonic.

>Steven nearly dies of old age in one episode
Steven's been through a lot

fuck I forgot that one.

Pink's original Pearl is waiting in the wings, and that should be worth at least a miniseries event.

Steven and the Steven's remains my favorite episode. The sweet-spot was the absurd humor found in the light-hearted darkness.
>Steven sings a jaunty song on how he watched himself die multiple times
>Pearl dresses up like a clown and pies her face as she watches her all but adopted son decrepify

Attached: Clown World.png (700x670, 301K)

Starting to hope that's not the case, Pinks done so many terrible things that having her 'son' as a get out of jail free card is seeming possible.

Both of those terms lost all meaning beyond "eww yuck, me no likey" a long, long looooong time ago.

Yes. It is supposed to refer to an authorial self-insert that is basically them vicariously living out their personal fantasies and all the cliches that come with it. The closest SU comes to this is Zuke writing Peridot and Lapis.

It's subtly different than an obvious attempt to pander to a group of people, even though they can share a lot of the same traits (hyper-competency, contrived rapport with previously established fan-favorite characters).

why delete?

this place is full of bitter cynical losers, what do you think

i think

Attached: file.png (600x600, 355K)

Right? Which is weird because I never felt bad for young protagonists before
