The slackerz

Doghouse Diahreies

poppy o'possum

I miss Boxer Hockey

Erfworld.

I'm still steaming that someone published a character named Parson Gotti before I did.

R.I.P. achewood

What the fuck, how can you open a "game" like that? like a real physical thing? That makes no sense!

I kept up with that one. I remember it was updated less and less after the author's brother passed away. What's the artist doing nowadays?

Elf Only Inn

I'll be amazed if someone else remembers it

Attached: eoi20030430.gif (252x355, 24K)

R.I.P Castle Vidcons

Derelict.

I really miss this comic.

Attached: 130318.jpg (770x1155, 311K)

I do! I read it religiously back in the day.

I figured it wasn't that long when we last got an update.
Then I checked and it's from fucking 2017.
I still hope he'll continue it one day.

Games cases usually come wrapped in plastic.

Holy shit, Banished is still updating.

Blip. Creator got sickly. I remember hearing that they came back for a bit but I forget if they ever finished it.

Attached: 20110418.gif (700x890, 177K)

Derelict was dope

I also miss Hanna is not a boys name.

Does String Theory count as dead? Updates are so infrequent now.

Last I heard we was doing commisions here and there. After his brother past a few more things happened to him and his senpai I think. Poor guys had it rough

>I'm Not That Drunk
>Fox Sister
>Vibe
>Larp Trek
>Double K
>VGCats

Do webtoons count? Cause this Aztec magical girl one ive been reading stopped updating like 3 months ago. I am afraid its dead...

>VGCats
OH SHIT I FORGOT ABOUT THAT ONE

Hockey Zombie

Attached: King Fat.jpg (700x1361, 320K)

ms paint adventures

I loved it

What happened, anyway?

You are not alone user, it was pretty good.

I'm upset that boxer hockey is dead, but I guess I'm happy that he's making real comics now.

Staccato
It was baby's first borderline furry comic but I miss it so much, and Shawn destroyed the archives before having a daughter and dissapearing into his pop culture shirt store I'm not sure is still alive

He does porn on patreon now

what's he doing?

Sonic Mania and the Invader Zim movie, among other things.

so I googled it out of curiousity, my assumption was that he was taking random commissions but he's actually taken the titular vg cats from the webcomic and seems to be pimping them out for his patreons.

I'm legitmately disgusted.

The worst part is it’s not even good.

>I'll be amazed if someone else remembers it
You do know how old Yea Forums is, right?
Of course there's a bunch of 30ish year old manchildren wandering around Yea Forums who remember this

Attached: hastalavista.png (702x720, 117K)

Perfect Delivery.
...
I'll leave it on your desk.

>Blone girl has all my preferences

But stonetoss is still posting comics

Red Panels is now Stonetoss dipshit, complete with out of the blue EVA jokes.

how did you know just how to hurt me, user

i thought i'd forgotten

Among the best webcomics.

Based.
Redpanels was too pure for this world.

Moon Over June

rakugakiwall.com/blip/

It has not finished and rarely updates, but it updates.

Did they kill another artist? Or do they still have that poor girl drawing Transylvito hallways?

I take it you are 3rd world?

His wife has horrible cancer

>2 months since last update
And the wait continues..

Attached: 1435286245311.png (364x652, 189K)

It's a joke because physical games are dead.

It was pretty good, though I didn't care much for the MMO story arch. Is it still online or do I need to use wayback to read it again?

And guess what?

Say what you say about Tim but the Buck never abandoned his calling.

Well damn, sucks to be them.

>passed away
His brother was murdered with a shotgun in front of him.

I miss the comic but don't blame him for stopping.

we just all wish he did

>the zombie hunters
How many webcomics have died because of depression or anxiety

He started falling more in like with SJW belief and started doing work for Extra Credits. He's still with Extra Credits, as far as I know.

It wasn't exactly great, but I still miss Glam Rock Gorilla sometimes. Artist got cancer, I think. Dunno if she's even still alive.

Attached: 2016-09-28-RTD125.jpg (975x1379, 1.17M)

Oh I'm sad now

Attached: 1532300082823.png (440x742, 158K)

Derelict was cool, but we're getting the Sword Interval from him now, and it's arguably better

The Pokemon battle one is the best one.

God, Morbi turned into such a bitch once he stopped going to Yea Forums.

And the murderer was let free, too.

Get a real job, dipshit

>Chugworth

it feels like im the only one who actually liked this comic

Attached: LAX_Fox439ce521ca615.jpg (960x480, 83K)

They did. That's why your favorite webcomic stopped updating. You know the one. It was in the middle of a storyline and the person working on it just stopped updating it. Did they even announce there was a hiatus? Refresh my memory user.

wasnt he working on another comic called diesel. i remember reading the first 2 issues.

The fuck? Story?

They did, and then they deleted their forums because they got tired of fans being dipshits. Then they got into animation and made a shit episode about their old comic that didn't follow their webcomic at all and expected me to act grateful.

My favorite webcomic stopped updating because the creator takes month long breaks. Supposedly she has an anxiety disorder which prevents her from working but still enjoys the benefit of Patreon.

Wrong! My favorite webcomic stopped updating because the artist died of a heroin overdose!

how? also, checked.

>Dunno if she's even still alive.
d-damn

>That blueball
Yes, I can see why.

Yes, I do feel shame.

It's been what two years now?

Attached: Camp Weedonwantcha Why We're Here.jpg (970x1481, 1.28M)

I think he was working on one of the Sonic the Hedgehog comics

She’s working on the new Animaniacs.

Does this have more than 3 chapters because I don't remember this

real talk, I only read this for the centaur and the piss scenes

>Ever After will never continue
>We will never see new Endling content other than the ocassional Shantae concept artwork

Attached: endling.jpg (720x720, 201K)

I read it for the plot, but Chapter 3 was left unfinished over five years ago when the artist fell off the face of the earth. I know it's cliche to say, but I think he might have actually died.

Attached: ede6552224c6282879d457e15d9ce65c.jpg (850x1100, 1.08M)

Nuzlocke OG? Hard-Mode? It actually updated again not all that long ago.

Felt like there used to be way more webcomics 10-15 years ago. Or maybe I just stopped looking for them.

>only strips that still exist are this one and SUCK MY DIIIICK IM A SHAAARK
FUCK
I just want to to back through it again

glad Hesse is working on Sonic but damn I miss Boxer Hockey

Attached: the_frog_is_the_webcomic.jpg (720x932, 343K)

What was that webcomic about dracula, a mummy and other monsters getting dragged into shenanigans when they just want to chill?

The Lonely Vincent Bellingham. Author has not updated in more than a year and is a hardcore SJW who storyboarded the She-Ra reboot.

When asked about updates she launches into rants about being asked "unreasonable questions."

Attached: 1529397024-CH3_07.png (792x1224, 769K)

Does Lackadaisical Cats still get updated?

If only Psy didn't fuck around with minors then we could probably have the site again.

Yep. Trancy is one of the few actual female artists who actually does what she's supposed to do funny enough!

Yes, but at the same glacial pace as ever. I don't mind though, the art has not dropped in quality whatsoever and the story is still engaging. Definitely a quality>quantity kind of webcomic

I'm actually okay with this not continuing. Vincent showed too much passiveness in a character. And everything was not explained correctly and everyone has those sharp ass chins.

I liked his guro comics better.

>me subbing to Ultima Online a week before all my friends jumped ship and moved to Everquest

Steve Lichman?

GWTB has always updated at a glacial pace.

Strong Female Protagonist hasn't updated in over a year, despite them saying they anticipated resuming sometime last winter. Might be dead forever.
Steve Lichman isn't a webcomic, though. It's a print comic, and they released portions of it online to drum up support for the actual release.

All I remember is that he said there was an argument at the time. I would assume the other person got away with it if they were on his property because of castle laws.

I think its still going on Slipshine

how do you do a porn comic yet still be sensitive enough to be shitposted to death

Remember Punks and Nerds? Its not hosted anywhere on the internet and its basically lost forever unless the creator or some other person archived everything.

Unless its one some website now that I dont know of.

Attached: BEEPP.gif (502x607, 67K)

Not abandoned but Kid Radd was amazing

Attached: boogers.png (253x221, 12K)

It is.... moj.slipshine.net/

There's people who do porn because they don't care, and there's people who do porn because they don't actually understand social boundaries and norms. The former have a thick skin and self awareness, the latter not so much.

And I thought the comic would have been better as a straight adventure comic. Honestly the sex was kind of a distraction from what could have been a neat little fantasy story.

>webcomic lesbians
>slow decent of quality
>changes format to picture book
>still never updates

Attached: 1543546666096.png (768x576, 452K)

I 'member, but only vaguely.

Honest question: Have any of you even supported your webcomic? Or do you think a page view a week is good enough to keep something you love going?

Attached: lenny.jpg (1920x1081, 166K)

It was pretty good, but it's not like the author isn't doing stuff. He's just only doing Sword Interval right now.

Manly Guys

I like Oglaf, but I wish it hadn't meant the death of Platinum Grit. That shit was baller

Attached: takeitlikeamancolour.jpg (523x540, 71K)

I bought some shirts from Penny Arcade back in the day

I bought Vanhiests book that he illustrated. It wasnt that great but I really liked Boomango

After having gone on a webcomic binge a few years ago I came to the conclusion that webcomics just aren't really that great of a medium since most artists drop it.

I guarantee you only very very VERY few webcomics will ever have an END end to them. Most will just be left unfinished, completely.

I got a SMBC shirt once.As a present.

This is true of almost all comics, except for manga which just gets axed instead

That's why serialized plots are a bad idea unless you plan on finishing the comic within a reasonable amount of time. Otherwise you end up with comics that the artist gives-up on before it's over or it just meanders forever with no end in sight like Gunnerkrigg Court.

How? It was all sameface tame shit
Nigga is just a bad artist

Can you blame them? Morby for Poppy said he wouldn't put out another comic until he could afford to turn his water back on so he could take a shower. And that was before he stopped making it as a pure comic.

Source? Saucenao just links to furaffinity

This is one of the things I like most about Unsounded. Author treats it like a real fucking job and pumps out updates regular as clockwork. Probably because she's not a snot-nosed college kid anymore.

Yeah but there's still no end in sight, just like Gunnerkrigg Court

I have a feeling it'll run out of gas and go unfinished, or a very, very rushed ending, or (and I hope this doesn't happen) it just gets left to die.

I don’t read any webcomics, but I am interested in hearing about their fanbases. What is the worst abandoning in webcomic history? Like the webcomic had a big invested following, and then all of a sudden the creator goes completely silent during an arc and leaves the audience totally blue balled. Has that ever happened and caused an uproar?

If I like a comic, and the creators put out a book Ill usually get a copy to put on my shelf. I still have to get the final volume of It Hurts, but Im tight on money.

Attached: 2013-10-04-ithurts075.gif (980x1386, 403K)

Only one that comes to mind is Homestuck.

Attached: 1308780314058.png (650x450, 20K)

Theres been a couple over the years where the creators literally dies, and everything grinds to a halt. Theres several going now where the creators are constantly sick and going for hosptial visits. Artists are always getting sick. Its the stress I guess.

Its not a webcomic, but shit like One Piece, and Berserk have been going for literal decades now, and people will lose their minds if the creators die before its finished.

Attached: chopper classic.png (201x223, 103K)

I loved It Hurts, but quit reading Please Forgive Me, when Gob went on a break. IH was funny and actually had some plot advancement, but PFM isn't as funny and doesn't seem like the plot is going anywhere.

I bought a few physical copies of webcomics

Step Monster

Creator is working on the final volume.
deviantart.com/toxictoothpick/art/Birthday-2019-809265551

Oh shit!

I've been buying John Allison's real-person comic

what's she up to now?

I guess the best case scenario for those super long running series is to hope the creator at least writes out how they planned to end the series so if they happen to die before finishing it, it can be continued by someone else with the same ideas from the creator.

nothing will ever compare to Pictures For Sad Children

It was shit, but it was my kind of shit.

Attached: 8634f14177Xu1.png (567x1134, 58K)

I've bought a volume of IT HURTS!!! with a commission in the flyleaf, and I intend to get more when I get an idea for a picture and the money for one.
Also I've got the two Sunstone hardcovers, if that counts.

I'm still wondering if there's going to be a book compilation of the newsprint run. I heard there may be one, but there's been radio silence about it.

Attached: ana.png (1157x1135, 582K)

Count your sheep.
It was too good for this world. We need it back.

Attached: 20150302a.png (860x338, 53K)

Oh god, THIS.

I vividly remember this comic. It was actually one of the earliest webcomics I ever read.

Also he directed the Sonic Mania Shorts

Yes. But some people need to learn that new product means new sales.
A case in point, Tales of the Questor. It's on about a page a month, less if RH gets the sniffles. Meaning zero. RH could drop it and switch to MLP fanfic at any time.
Also, Sandra and Woo, who's creators -have- learned that lesson and constantly post great comics. And sell collections. And a video game.

Attached: npc00000.png (662x1000, 820K)

Too good for this world. Also, I and everyone else on Yea Forums used to want to fuck the fat bunny.

What was the reasoning behind him leaving again? Such fucking blue balls

"this ain't payin' the bills and I don't wanna be one of those webcomics posting one update every few months. If I'm gonna do it I wanna do it all the way."

Hell that's good a reason as any

>It has been almost 10 years
This was probably the one and only sprite comic I've ever seen that used original pixel art and a somehow original plot that wasn't all about fights or super powers.
... God, I so miss Bob and George.

share the same name with that body builder. Nothing like him but his temper.

That was a great one!

wat

Attached: mallmonkeys.jpg (500x567, 66K)

the comic talks about pyramid schemes...

Im remembering things wrong? But didnt one of his brothers died in a car accident and just when he was getting over that he loses another sibling in a shooting when said sibling tried to stop a dispute?

Ah.

Didn't the author release some sorta april fools plot revalation, before dropping off the face of the earth?

Attached: spellingthevacuum.jpg (648x426, 100K)

I like that PFM seems kinda aimless, it's more of an episodic slice of life which I enjoy. It Hurts was so amazing and I don't expect it to be repeated.

Just Chute Me was in many respects so dumb, but I used to really look forward to it when I was in a (seemingly) dead end office job about 5-6 years ago.

Anyone else have any lame guilty pleasures?

Attached: just-chute-me2012-06-12-I.png (800x809, 810K)

This is a good end. You can see Pearl creeping in Cherry, though

>You can see Pearl creeping in Cherry, though
A) Ian didn't design Pearl
B) This looks identical to RPG World circa 2004, what are you going on about?

Sure he still makes new pages but what it has become it might as well be considered abandoned.

I turn off my adblocker for webcomics I like

As in he's been working on other shit for so long that he can't fully shake off the influence even when trying to emulate his old stuff, which even he's said is really hard to do? Hell, she's also got Enid's legs in that first panel

>Or do you think a page view a week is good enough to keep something you love going?
As an artist myself I disapprove of people who start webcomics to try and make money.
Webcomics are one of the lowest tiers of comics, they should be labors of love
If you love what you do and do it long enough eventually money will come in
Never forget even Chris-chan gets thousands of dollars a year

>Doesn't appeal to Yea Forums anymore on account of the massive SJW tangent the comic took

demonsmirror.com/
hitmen.thecomicseries.com/ (And all of Thorsby's other completed works)
zebragirl.thecomicseries.com/

Kid Radd is a good one to add, not exactly sure if I should consider Achewood as "completed" rather than abandoned, but due to it's nature it was never going to have a definite ending...

Keychain of creation.
Really, I just want to know what Jukashi is up to.

How about you're just wrong?
I was a webcomic artist back at Keen in the day too and was friendsly with Ian cause both of us had comics with similar themes (Had a couple chats, drew him some Cherry art)
His art didn't really change

imagine being this salty

There's nothing wrong with turning what you love to do into your job or at least getting support for doing it. In fact it could be beneficial for an artist as they don't have to worry about juggling their job and their hobby. The mindset that an artist wanting to make money is only in it to make money is flawed and narrow-minded.

Imagine being wrong

Frankly, I probably would have been okay with the SJW stuff if it hadn't gone the TERF "men are all evil and will never be anything else" route.
Like, what about the whole plotline with Slick not being in control of Sleaze's actions? Will that ever get resolved, or will the Sisterhood just kick him in the dick repeatedly because Sleaze catcalled someone?

Kinda funny how he dropped everything after selling porn failed.

We got official VGcats porn in return though so its worth it

Anyone else remember Men In Hats from back in the day? It was one of my favourites, half a lifetime ago.

Attached: 20020906.gif (729x309, 40K)

Hannah is not a Boy's Name comes to mind, it's been mentioned in threads like these over the years.

Artist went silent, right after a funding project for a book to boot. Everyone thought she up and died, turns out she just said "fuck it this is too much work".

Does anyone remember a sprite comic from over 15 years ago with link, samus, and megaman exploring... apartment living?

>official vgcats porn
you consider that a PLUS?

I was gonna say Sexy Losers, but apparently it updated in January. I thought it'd stopped years ago.

Attached: sl283.jpg (504x1615, 201K)

used to read this thing on keenspot I think???
fuck I loved the first arc on this and thought it was really high quality compared to all the other web comics I knew about

but then the artist got horny or something and it just devolved into weird lesbian scenarios with no plot and then it stopped

I just checked apparently it resumed at some point but fuck that's too long to go on hiatus man especially since content had trickled down to nothing for a long time before officially going on hiatus

bruh I have been following him since he was fucking around with Josh Mirman nerding out over Team Rocket. If I remembered which one, I would have gone back to it some time in the past 15 years. Everything about it was pretty domestic, at least as far as I can remember. 2 of them lived together, the third was kind of an annoying neighbor sorta shtick... I think.

I know, not helpful. It's hard trying to remember an era when I still used Netscape 7.X

Clay is currently working on and off on Depression Comix

I can only remember a single bit from one I read that had Mario saying "did you slip her the spicy meatball" when talking about dating with a typical response of "dude do you want me to get arrested" and I thought it was the funniest shit ever. Otherwise it's a complete blank

Oh yeah this dude was the poster child for hard up webcomics author, and he was an ardent republican to boot, he ended up living in some remote location slowly dying of preventable diseases with no healthcare while publishing a 3 panel political strip. I have no idea if he died but it would not surprise me

another brilliant mind lost to a lack of a sensible implementation of gommunism.

Im sure is not vgbutts quality

It's not good but seeing characters you've wanted to fuck for 18 years finally doing it by the original artist has a certain novelty to it

It's like low-tier furry porn but with his gag faces slapped on top of it. It is legit offputting.

I don't think "currently updating" fits the definition of "abandoned"

Honestly I wouldnt say abandoned, the whole thing seems like it ended.

I still do
But the creator decided to let it go

It's a stealth ending in case they never go back but she's got other shit going on right now

I did buy the first few volumes of Atomic Robo when Clevinger went into print though.

So you're saying you're a fag? k

At this point I consider paranatural abandonned. with the current arc and pacing and update, we aren't going back to the plot before 2025. LITERALLY

It's like he's taking the piss. He's just Nally caved in and doing porn, but the porn is disgusting.
It's borderline Ren and Stimpy style now.

Wait, the one where they discover they are in a containment zone and the war ended ages ago isn't the canon ending? It was the perfect ending!

Are you saying both are made by the same author? The art styles aren't really compatible.

AppleGeeks.

Exterminatus Now, surprised it lasted so long.

>wants to do a webcomic
>can't write for shit
>doesn't want to draw for other people because 90% of people i talked to have a generic story of 4/5 elements and a shonen like hero in
i'm hoping one of my friends to write something but he keeps building the world and not the story itself

PFH going nowhere makes it so much worse. Like, It Hurts always had a vaguely slice of life element to it, but within a constantly-advancing story. PFH is just... a high school sitcom, but in wacky comic form.

The true monsters never die.

I disabled adblock on some I read and a buddy bought me some webcomic merch for a gift (Lackadaisy and Oglaf specifically). That's it.

Anyone remember Planet Karen?

out of curiosity should I read ever after first before reading (what's left of) the OCT or should I do it the other way around?

All the comics I want to support are already dead...

I... what?

>I'm a werewolf (half)
Dude, don't even start. I freaking loved this comic. I still have it bookmarked cause of the hope it might continue one day.

This and 8-bit Theater were my favorites.

Tatsuya isn't just a feminist, he's a trans-hating feminist.

It was 40k mixed with Sonic OCs, the autism was palpable.

The difference between a feminist and a TERF isn't a large one

Oh, I remember. It was the one that did that "What if Shinji had a backbone" comics.
Wish there was an archive, I miss that era of webcomics

I almost wish this would be officially abandoned so I could get some goddamn rest

This is where the "Doug, you RAPED Patty. HONK HONK!" comic comes from

Yet it worked, and the supposedly the author sees his errors now.

True

Out of all the OOTS clones this was the best.

His brother and a friend of the brother's had been drinking, and got into an argument about something. The friend wanders off in a huff, and the brother sticks around Scott, Scott's wife and the brother's wife. Friend returns with a gun and shoots the brother in front of everyone, killing him.

Most alt-rightard comics don't last long because they run out of ideas quickly.
Redpanels literally had to become a new comic so it could re-use the old jokes.

I bought NNN only for Dan to get a real job and put On The Subject of Witches on indefinite hiatus.

Attached: I NEED MY PENNY FIX DAN WHERE IS SHE.png (600x600, 149K)

are redpanels/stonetoss the same person, or just an example of convergent evolution?

I bought all the Achewood books Onstad had published through Dark Horse.

Roadwaffles or Mine's Bigger!! from early 2000 Keenspace. Luckily I managed to save the comic collections on a .rar before the sites went under. The latter one isn't reachable even through Wayback machine nowadays.

I suspect the same person who claims Redpanels and Stonetoss are the same person also thinks they're Shmorky, despite half the jokes ripping on trannies.

everything i've heard about morbi makes me feel bad for people who followed this shit

I stopped reading months ago, is it still on the shitty radio show chapter?

Does anyone remember Pokemon X or Sore Thumbs?

It was good until the reboot/rebranding. After that it just seemed like the artist either lost all drive or sense of direction in where they wanted to take the comic and, by that time, there were already too many "video game comics" so it couldn't find a way to distinguish itself anymore.

Attached: 00432795.jpg (875x1143, 216K)

It's true.

Attached: ride the pain.jpg (600x600, 31K)

I thought the author was a man, but the new artist (after Abaddon) was a woman?

Not him, but yes. Trudy did them both. Platinum Grit wasn't a webcomic though.

I support 3 on Patreon, and buy the books when they are printed/chip in to the kickstarters.

I would also back Minna if she ever signed up. Instead I watch her stream whenever I am awake at 2am.

Did the porn fail? Any reason why?

>she got away with it
What the fuck, is she still silent even now?

Not that user.

And he still makes tons of dosh so it's not really a fail.
The porn is gross and wrinkly.

That laurenzuke comic with the lesbians

Ghastly's Ghastly Comic
So damned awesome, killed off in it's prime by body dysphoria

Yep, I bought a pic related book. Unfortnately, this particular one went throgh man delas at the printing phase.
I also whitelist the pages in my adblockers. In fact over 90% of my whitelist are webcomics.

Attached: ssdt.png (392x487, 39K)

Alright. I was curious, because porn is usually the last bastion of artists who get sick of the modern, algorithm-grind of comics and animation. It isn't curated by megacorps so everyone I know who's done it insists it's less of a wasteland.

What's weird with porn is it doesn't have to be pretty. People seem to focus mainly on proportions, so if you can draw the arms the right length and have a small pre-existing audience from somewhere, porn should at least be somewhat viable.

>half-assed anime-ish artwork
>despite being an art school grad
>everyone surprised when he decides art is too much work and turns shitty webcomic into shitty novel
Nothing of value lost, I'm just ashamed that so many people from Yea Forums were sucking his dick non-stop while the comic was going.

Never could understand how someone could put so much work into a porn-filled comic and stop it long before getting to any point. The dragon dude was awesome.

It had it's moments, but spent way too much time on fat fetishism. Not at all surprised the creator cut ties with it the moment he got a job in the industry.

Pictures for Sad Children, Hannah's, Cheap Thrills, I guess Poppy O Possum.

God I wish RH would actually work on Questor on a regular basis, but he would need to have a real job that pays for the rent on his trailer first. You would expect a webcomic by a fundie to be more preachy, but he keeps it limited to a page here and there. His blog is some wacky crap though. Never thought I'd see a grown man rant and rave about socialism in MLP.

feels so weird thats an EX-webcomic.

meanwhile the creator's just a horny idiot who draws children and calls them big head adults lol.

Should have seen it coming when his visits became less frequent as criticism arose and an user *literally predicting exactly what happened* and begging him to at least discuss the change with his backers and workshop it a bit was met with "hum, no, I know what I'm doing."

The first two chapters showed promise. They were short, simple, funny and focused. If the comic continues like that it would be pretty good.

I love his pure frustration.

Isn't that what cancel culture is?

Some people might remember carrion girls I hope. I remember the author was planning on starting a new comic, but I haven't heard anything but radio silence.

Yeah, that had a great vibe to it.

>actually tried to give money to hiimdaisy after hiimdaisy shat all over fans by deleting the parody comics that actually made people pay attention
Why in the fuck did you do that? You knew what you were getting involved in.

Yep. Author had to go back to one update a week, and even then he still does delays.

RPG World comes to mind, but anyone with a brain already realized that it wasn't nearing the end, but merely Act 2. But on the other hand, considering the success the writer has had since abandoning it, I can't really blame him.

Right? Glad to have it though, afaik you can’t get hard cover versions any more.
I was young and foolish, what can I say.

I still support artists I like, but I just can’t get into patreon. The monthly thing feels like I’m paying bills- I much prefer kickstarters and merch. Oh and Etsy- I have tons of stuff from literally who tumblr comics that get sold on Etsy.

Writers wife having dying type cancer and some drama about their family that involved possibility of them taking in a kid as foster parents made them announce an indefinite suspension of updates ("possibly the rest of the year") back in May, but then they went on updating regardless, just mostly text updates. Xin Ye (their main artist) has almost entirely left (still does the backer-bonus pinups and other miscellaneous stuff, but not the actual comic), and they've gotten so tired of the constant revolving door of artists that they're working now to transition to a 3DCG based system. That's had mixed results, but seems to be improving.

>StoneToss and Redpanels are completely different things made by completely different people

NANI!?

Is DMFA still being updated?

I think so

cheap thrills did finally come back i think this year, but they're redoing it completely so we'll never find out what was supposed to happen in that story line. apparently she was having difficulties with her job, eventually married and had a kid, then a few years later said they couldn't stop thinking about these characters. i'm glad it's back but still sad it's going to take years to get back to that point

Honestly, Gisele's comics in general tend to be that way for me. She works on them until they bore her, then she either rushes an ending, hands them off to someone else (looking at you, Dangerously Chloe), or just leaves them to die.

You know what this world needs, a webcomic called "web comic fanfic theater" and the only thing it does is find abandoned and unfinished webcomics just to gives them ending.

Sometimes it won't be able to live up to the legacy, sometimes it might give us something better than we expected, but at least it will always deliver more than we would have otherwise.

It went to shit when they switched to the MMO format.

Chugworth was utter garbage.

It was Dave's attempt at a legit webcomic without porn or explicit fetishes after he got burned for drawing too much loli rape, except he almost immediately realized he couldn't write worth a single damn. So he made the whole thing into just one big endless dicktease that failed to interest anyone before just giving up entirely and going back to mutilation porn.

Yeah the plot was actually fairly interesting and all the shitty fetishes he inserted into it just detracted from the comic's quality. I mean I know there's a market for vore, guro, castration, watersports, petrification and all that shit, but it doesn't really work when you're trying to write a serious story at the same time.

I'm so glad someone else remembered this. Real shame it died, the art was getting better every comic

The author said he's been going through some tough shit in his life so he may get back to it eventually.
Just think that if you spent 10 years of your life on something you might as well try to finish it.

Quick question: do you still get off on them?

Bought every printing of unsounded so far (1 at the first 1&2 at the second 1, 2, 3 on the third) and gave the extras to friends.

Also, making webcomics at 61? Shit.

Why would you remind me

Attached: bocchi_3.png (518x391, 166K)

Man this comic was cool...such a shame

This guy almost 100% certainly went on to do porn if it wasn't already his main source of income. That comic was just fetish after fetish.

I could always see the actual story behind this comic, where "Paul" gave a noncommittal response and waited like 2-3 weeks or even a month before actually buying or starting to play the game and got frustrated that no one was playing anymore. When asked why he didn't start earlier, he says he was "busy" but won't explain with fucking what.

>tfw I whacked it to the paper doll game of the skater chick

TERFs are right about trannies though

Why would someone intentionally copy Gabe's art style back in 2002?

I loved Achewood but at least it had a good run. Between the comic, character blogs, and the miscellaneous bullshit like the cookbook and zines it's probably one of the biggest webstorythings by volume.

What're TERFs general opinions about transsexuals?

they are just men playnig pretend and they should think they can magically become mother or become female sport icons just because they paid to get their dick mutilated beyong repair.

Considering the same author also abandoned another comic deep into its run to write Derelict, I'm not surprised he did the same thing again. Webcomic authors have no endurance.

That was an april fools joke

Does anyone else remember when there were a fuckton of OotS clones on their forums fancomics section? A lot of them were shit, but for some reason I got a kick out of reading them. Now that section is almost completely dead, and basically nobody makes clones any more.

I just miss it; I wish Onstad could keep writing it forever and pay someone to layout the comics for him

Webcomics connected to unreasonable success?

Attached: Strip666.gif (700x1422, 164K)

shitty reason lol
i don't wanna hear that he worked on the invader zim movie or the sonic game or official comics for some other franchise or his own tv show or another original story comic he was getting paid to do

fuck all that

finish boxer hockey bitch, you started it over a decade ago, now finish it.

Man I bought both volumes several months ago and haven't read the second one yet. Don't know why I haven't read it, I enjoyed the first one.

Nope. I wish that authors would release physical versions of the comics. I would totally spend over $100 to get a physical version of Alfie for example.

I just checked and Oglaf has a physical version. I'll probably buy it now, but I kind of wish it wasn't the beginning of the comic. I find the episodic episodes to be better than the beginning with the apprentice.

This and the trap cat

I remember it, and I always preferred the copy/paste format than the actually drawn out stories and the later adventure.

The artist actually did a ton of research at the time when she did the comics and it shows how much she works at it from the lighting and the level of detail she makes.

What's the joke here?

I love the way her hair looks so god damn much aaaarrrgg. The key to make black hair look ultra black is to add fuckloads of shine to it. I was so impressed when they actually managed to do it in the Witcher 3.

desu i'd rather a lot of things died or updated at a snails pace than have people give them money.
everything on the internet is about getting money nowadays. the old work-life balance is being destroyed in favour of a constant world of work disguised as a hobby. imageboards are one of the few places left where people will make OC just to entertain others, to be part of a community, without expecting cash in return.

Chaos in the Tropics. Scribblehatch, the creator, originally started by posting here like 8-9 years ago about his idea for a comic about a nudist superheroine who would only wear a magic scarf that gave her invulnerability and super strength while she was wearing it. At some point somebody in one of the webcomic threads convinced him to drop the nudist angle "to maximize it's potential appeal". When he finally created it he started out with a regular update schedule doing full color art, then in early 2015 he decided to spend 9 months to work on a whole bunch of pages to upload at once, and decided to change from full color art to some weird pastel shit; he uploaded another batch of pages in mid 2016, then in December he just disappeared, stopped posting to twitter and his site eventually went down with all the comics. Today you can only read the first 60 pages or so he posted on his Deviantart: deviantart.com/scribblehatch/gallery/46707366/chaos-in-the-tropics-comic looking at his social media stuff he posted a few images in early 2018 and then vanished again. It's a shame, I liked his artwork...

and nothing of value was lost

Oh yeah I remember this. I was going to ask about this but I didn't remember the artist name. I could only remember something about a surfboard and forgot the rest of the details lol

I bought the Unsounded volumes purely to loan to my friends.

He's been working on the final volume for years now, he's too busy posting worldbuilding for concepts that will never go anywhere to finish it.

They're only right about trannies because their hatred for men supersedes everything.

I hate how he doesn't have any sort of social media shit to keep up to date on this shit should it ever come back.

Jukashi hangs out on TGchan doing quest stuff, if you wanna see them there.

He won't make a half life 3, left 4 dead 3 fat fuck won't even finish a comic.

Most of my prime webcomic reading days were in highschool when I had zero income. In the modern scene I'd probably support some on patreon if I thought there were any worth it.

Not that user but get a real job. Leeching off of people dumb enough to be Patrons while cranking out 4 chapters a year is a luxury

The comic ending for real on April Fool's would fit as well.

I'm sure I'm going to regret asking this, but what exactly is "yikes" about EC?

At least it's archived, his fantasy comic No Scrying no longer exists as far as I can tell.

last December was nine months ago, user

I was about to say Broodhollow but apparently it updated in July

I'm just surprised the creator of Bob and George just made the one comic and never did anything else afterwords. I thought it was pretty good way back when I read it. Doubt it holds up though.

There's one I used to read in the mid-2000s (duh) about a redheaded... lesbian, I think? She had very short red/pinkish hair and pierced ears. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

Go Get a Roomie?

I forgot this existed.
Speaking of slipshine artists abandoning comics for long periods of time...

>Go Get a Roomie
No... earliest comic in that one is 2010, too. The one I'm talking about, however, was mostly in black a& white in the beginning as well. The looked more anime-inspired, cute big eyes, tiny pointy noses, etc.. I believe the protagonist worked at a comic book store?
As a reference: around the same time, Megatokyo was still in production and sprite comics were quite rampant. Other webcomics I used to read at the time were Fireball20XL, Saturnalia, Bob & George, and Mall Monkeys.

>an artist can't draw in more styles than one
lol

Is it officially dead?

Bob and George is rough early on but I think the later stuff holds up pretty well for a comic that had new material every single day.

Also fun fact, the author is a physicist. He started the comic his freshman year of college and throughout the comic's run he graduated and got a cushy job.

What's wrong with porn?

Is this one of those AMERICAN things?

CAD is still going on, strong and steady.

Lets be real, it was already dead for years. Letting someone make porn for you is the only way to prevent it from being completely buried by the sands of time.

Super Effective. The better also never-updating companion comic to a never-updating series.

>You should be glad to pay extra to you internet providers for we are RUNNING OUT OF INTERNET
>Historical revisionism is a-okay because showing nazis in ww2 games and movies is problematic and hateful

Plus overall AAA-industry shillism, they work for them as their day-jobs and as such they are not going to bite too hard on a hand that feeds them. Which is understandable.

Fact is, webcomics existed purely for entertainment in the past, mostly made by bored high school and university students/neets with nothing better to do than just put their ideas to paper. Money was never really expected in the "job" because it was mainly passion projects that they made for, not just our entertainment, but for fun on their part too. Patreon completely killed that concept in favor of making it all about money. In the past they had two or three ads on their sites to make pennies on the dollar a day and it was enough to keep it up. But once you're getting money from fans, people find it really hard to care anymore since they are, ironically, effectively at a gunpoint from their readers to finish their comic or they won't give them their money.
tl;dr what happened was essentially that but only really after the patreon era of content creation began in earnest.

You can add Hijinks Ensue to the list.

Sad but true, but even then he still made some gems. Shame. Scott is a funny dude.

Used TVtropes to find the comic I was talking about. It's The Lounge. Last issue was in 2016, it seems. It started in 2002...

On the same boat as this user, is just morbid curiosity now

Well shit.

I never understood how SL was so good, and Depression Comics is so damn bad.

>What is ad revenue
>What is merch
Hey remember when advertisers were paying 100 fucking dollars a day to have an ad on mspaintadventures? Penny-Arcade didn't become some giant from donations either.

This comic is so abandoned I forgot the name. Halp.

Me too. But I'm glad he's moved on to professional work.
He did a mini for Diesel for Boom. Which was 4 or 5 issues. There's supposedly more coming, and there was some Christmas special issue solicited but never released

Well fuck I found a saved comic with the name on it and the guy is still making comics. like 7 a year. huh.

knock yourselves out

Weird Australian comic by some Australian weeb. I think I heard she went into professional work or something? Anyway comic and site are super dead.

Sad uptight newb Vampire never gets with brown werewolf chick. Someone wrote porn about it, unbelievably, so at least I have that.

I hope somebody can help me out with this... I've tried googling for a certain webcomic for quite some time and I simply cannot rediscover it. It may very well have been erased from the internet completely, though I find that hard to believe.

Essentially it was about a guy going to college and his pet/friend was a talking monkey or a chimpanzee, that drank beer a lot.

No, it's NOT Joe and Monkey.

The problem is I can't remember much about it. I know it was from early to mid 2000s that I used to read it and the artist eventually stopped updating it.

This comic was generally realistic -- besides the fact there was a talking monkey in it of course -- and with a twisted sense of humor, but also with a certain level of drama. I distinctly remember that the main character finally had sex with a girl after going out with her but that it didn't well. I think the comic was discontinued shortly afterwards.

Anyway, could somebody please help me with the title? I can't even remember the names of any of the characters. I do remember it was fully colored and the art style was kid-friendly (cartoony but not exaggerated), with some attention given to backgrounds (you could tell where the characters were at a glance. A lot of webcomics I read didn't go that far).

Also just to illustrate the timeframe, I'll name some other webcomics I used to read around the same time: Megatokyo, Saturnalia, Mall Monkeys, even VGCatz and Least I Could Do.

>The Meek.
>It's been 9 months
same for her other comic, Mare Internum, which just updated a few days ago. Apparantly she's started an auto-scheduler for it, and also posting The Meek on Patreon.

>for we are RUNNING OUT OF INTERNET
>He dosen't know about spectrum Crunch which was a real possibility back when they made the video which was the entire Point of it
How about you fucking educate yourself next time and futhermore they never said that first part about "be glad to pay extra to you internet providers"

technologyreview.com/s/507486/the-spectrum-crunch-that-wasnt/

extremetech.com/extreme/146585-a-closer-look-at-the-wireless-spectrum-crunch

bbc.com/future/story/20131014-are-we-headed-for-wireless-chaos

I do know. And that limits available connections for dumb phoneposters, it's not WE'RE RUNNING OUT OF TEH INTERNETS.
What they did was literal gossip-rag level twist for clickbait.

Found you.

>Artists finally stop being constantly taken advantage of.
>"It was so much better back in the day."

The reality was that he ended up being a fragile bitch with no gameplan. He kept brainstorming new ideas instead of actually writing stories and refused to conclude the first chapter, elongating it as much as possible to avoid a conclusion. He got increasingly pushy as people criticized elements of his comic, and he was a real cunt to the people who tried to help him out privately despite acting like he was being a real pal to them.

I'm glad he failed. The last thing he needed was to feed his ego.

>taken advantage of
Literally nobody was forcing them to do anything. It was a hobby. When you try to turn it into a full time job based on donations you're creating a toxic environment where you guilt all your supporters into giving more and more and more. If something happens and the artist can't provide updates suddenly people stop donating and your life is ruined. Ad revenue to cover cheap hosting costs and selling merchandise like books and tshirts is way more sustainable in the long run.

>doing something voluntarily is being taken advantage of
the point was never about bringing back the past. the point is that we've thrown away the future. there's more that could be said, but little point saying it. nothing will change. enjoy the world of personal brands and literal social-capital that awaits, a world where your hobbies take advantage of you and your job is liberatory.

That changed when advertisers started getting uppity. Nowadays, drawing a political charged or otherwise "offensive" comics make you non-eligible for ads. Besides, most internet savvy users (demographic that largely overlaps with webcomic readers) use adblockers.

Merch requires investment.

"If you're good at something, don't do it for free." This is absolutely not a new concept.

k

Why do you want to live in a world where nobody has hobbies performed for their own sake?
If you think through the implications of a world where nobody does anything that they're good at except for payment, it's hard to imagine it as anything but dystopian. A world in which nobody takes a walk unless it's to go to work, where nobody goes fishing except to sell fish, where nobody plays sports except in professional leagues, where nobody plays videogames except to stream competitively, where nobody watches cartoons except to review them, where nobody talks unless their palms are first crossed with silver. If a world in which you have to work 8 hours a day at a job you hate sounds a bit shit, it's hard to imagine a more depressing alternative than the one that stems from your axiom. and yet it's a more likely picture of the future of the internet than the alternatives.

>Why do you want to live in a world where nobody has hobbies performed for their own sake?
I don't, learn to separate an argument from the person. What I said is true (in my opinion), but it doesn't mean I agree with it or think it's how it should be.

Assuming you're the same person as , you've already framed doing it for free as "being taken advantage of". At the very least this reveals a perception of this situation as normal, despite the way it clashes with the recent past.

>Literally nobody was forcing them to do anything. It was a hobby.
The second you present it non-anonymously online as a narrative, people start harassing you to finish it if it isn't complete trash. They try to guilt you over it, how could you do this to your fans, can't you just answer the lingering questions, etc.
>When you try to turn it into a full time job based on donations you're creating a toxic environment where you guilt all your supporters into giving more and more and more.
You've moved the goalposts all the way from "compensation exists at all" to "making it a full time job and being a piece of shit." Not only is calling any form of compensation option being presented for free media "guilting" completely fucking ludicrous, but the idea that it's the very existence of monetary options that's "toxic" and not unscrupulous creators is fucking wild.
>If something happens and the artist can't provide updates suddenly people stop donating and your life is ruined.
That happens with most real jobs too, and that's also why you make a buffer and do things other than make comics.
>Ad revenue to cover cheap hosting costs
Ad money is so piss for small sites these days that it often doesn't even cover it. >and selling merchandise like books and tshirts is way more sustainable in the long run.
First of all it isn't, which is why people put up tip jars and Patreons in the first place. Second, creating and selling books and merchandise is such a time and money investment that you only do it if you have tons of both to spare or of you're trying to make a business.

You act like the existence of more direct payment methods has killed hobby art, but there's plenty of people who post things they make for fun online. Illustrations, comics, woodworking, puppetry, you name it. The only thing that rarely gets released with no strings attached is massive narrative comics. Calling optional compensation a negative just because some artists are cunts is ridiculous.

>Someone got paid for a long ass comic in some way, directly.
>HOBBY ART IS DEAD.
Rem of Devil's Candy literally draws and inks tons of illustrations, both her own stuff and fan art, for free and uploads them to the net constantly via Twitter. Tons of people in comics and animation do the same all the time.

You're confusing "Zack of Paranatural is a shitbag, and so is Morbi of Poppy O'possum" with "NO ARTISTS WILL EVER DRAW FREE THINGS AGAIN." Get a grip.

Fuck off Coldfusion.

>You're confusing "Zack of Paranatural is a shitbag, and so is Morbi of Poppy O'possum" with "NO ARTISTS WILL EVER DRAW FREE THINGS AGAIN."
No, you're confusing the result of the axiom
>"If you're good at something, don't do it for free."
With some other kind of statement.

I'm not; and yes, I'm phoneposting. I *kind of* get his point, though. If you are providing a free service and you feel obliged/pressured to deliver (or worse, people are harassing you to deliver) you may as well do it for money so the stress is at least worth it. However, that opens up another issue: now that you're getting paid, the obligation to deliver, and deliver it good is through the roof, and quickly becomes a trap; sureway to lose your love for the hobby.

I have made some comics and posted them exclusively anonymously for this reason, I don't want people hitting me up and asking me for their next fix. Other people are better at handling said pressure and I commend them.

I'm convinced there's a certain brand of nerd who gets off on the idea of webcomics artists never making any money, I used to enjoy following Aaron Diaz because he was like Kryptonite for those people, but then Diaz actually became the stereotype people accused him of being.

Being a fan creator is fine, people will always make stuff. But expecting fan creators to Finish Things and Be Professional when even real pros often are unable to do those things is very childish.

This describes why I avoid comissions or anything pretty well. Just want to draw for fun.

My post points out that even people who make a career out of this still make things entirely for the fun of it, but you're just gonna ignore that because
>muh axiom
Your examples are pretty shit too. People who love fishing and are really good at it? They get paid to do it! They also do it for the fun of it as well. Usain Bolt isn't going to stop going on jobs for fun. There's nothing wrong with making some money, or even a living, out of what you love. It's just that some people go too far and fuck themselves.

subscribe to my patreon if you expect more (you)s

Cheers mate

(You)'ve given me plenty for free, I'm good.
I'm glad we agree that it's shitbags who try to ransom their audience that's a problem, and not people getting compensated at all. (You) had me going there for a second.

It's almost always artists who can't get paid themselves. They use it as a coping mechanism and a way to feel superior to people who succeed.

>The entire sequence with the horses castration was too much for me.

What's this now?

I bought drmcninja books and plan in getting all of it hurts.

Today I will remind them
