I do think there's something to be said that an Ultimate Dave with his potential unfurled was a piece of shit who abandoned Jade with no answers to what happened to her husband. Jade had issues with Davesprite in pre-GO so you can make an argument that Dave's 'true' self (the shitty self absorbed post-retcon one) is someone Jade would never be able to love while the mask Dave (the cool heroic guy from early acts) is the one she loved and grew attached to.

You can really dig into how bad Dave is for Jade by considering that despite his time powers he let himself get killed by Jade's redirected bullets while fighting Bec Noir, then decided to join Rose's suicide mission than keep going on or even dealing with Jade after the fact.

The problem is there's nobody who cracks this egg and points it out, even with in-canon evidence suggesting it. Jade has high expectations of herself and flips when confronted with Jadesprite. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that most people who want Dave and Jade to hook up don't really mean nuDave. I don't think anyone likes nuDave.

They also felt like friends, compared to everyone else. They had shitty in-jokes and specific interests they shared that weren't just generic. Their world wasn't just constructed, their friendship was as well.

Current Dave is an inferior shadow of the excellent character Dave once was.

Man I really hope we get a "100% canon epilogue" (pizza route, pumpkin route or whatever they decide to call it) with all the characters written with their real personalities. I guess both routes had an excuse for what they did to them but give us another option without the fucking interference.

That was the biggest draw. There wasn't many first-time meeting bits that drag down every work of fiction; we were just thrown into the middle of a conversation between people who knew each other already and just wanted to talk about what they're drinking.

To date I could not tell if Hussie consciously did it well on purpose. I suspect he didn't because the reason why it felt so good initially was because it was so verbose but because the text became more and more fucking convoluted and dense as the story went on it was clear he was misidentifying that the reason why people liked his shit was because of these long stupid conversations and not the feel of those conversations. Because at some fucking point those conversations had to be curt and cut back due to the pressure of events happening but they just got longer and longer.

it's a bit like how he "tried" to make it so that the kids feel like the characters outside of their quartet had also just as important relationships with them.

So it was an accident, coincidence, and nobody told him and he never realized that he had stumbled across a writing style (i.e. realistic text chat) that he should maintain when real-life conversations no longer provide raw content.

This happened with Persona 5's translation. Apparently in Japanese all the characters sounded like real kids chatting with each other; in the English translation you barely could differentiate one character from another based on what they texted.

Now that I replayed it (man it's short), I think I understand the point. Rose mentions that something failed to change. John doesn't get his SBURB copy. I think overall it's going to be about you fucking up the alpha timeline and the only way to restore the proper timeline is to go back to the original Homestuck and let them go or some other lame self-indulgent meta thing like that.
