Grumpy Old Comic Story Time: Xenozoic Tales Edition

Some of you might remember a short lived franchise called "Cadillacs and Dinosaurs:" this is the original source material. Its black and white and old and its drawn with a horror comic's sensibilities and style despite the quirky retro pulp-fictiony motifs. When I was a kid and mentioned the show "Cadillacs and Dinosaurs" to my friend's dad he was like "oh yeah wasn't that some really violent black and white comic book?" so that's how I found out about it back when.

It feels very random how something can be huge and obscure at the same time. Cadillacs/Xenozoic got huge because of that arcade game, and only because of that, but the game itself became huge because of Jurassic Park / Dinosaurs mania. Sometimes you really need to be in the right place and the moment. Bissette had Tyrant comic, but idk what happened to that. And going back to Xeno, it probably was some guy in a suit thinking "hmmmmm... how we can make money, without putting effort? hey charles, the dinosaurs are a hot thing now, do you know some cheap property that we can buy and use as a marketing tool?"
"sure, jones, my kid is reading some comic about dinosaurs it's xenosomething tailors."
"that's great chuck, contact the author, we're going to milk it. and we should probably rename it to something hotter, nobody is going to pronounce that"
"yeah, imagine that, games, toys, and cartoons, I see a potential for a hit"
