"Resistance is futile, surrender without a fight, the worst they can do is to kill us"

There is a time and a place for nonviolent resistance...
They clearly didn't want an old man to become a regular, but the excuse they gave is the weakest it can be. How about he was transported deep into Fire Nation or that Aang failed to rescue him?

Avatar was full of shit that pretty much made no logical sense, like the massive fire nation blockade despite none of the other nations having any kind of real navy.

Domination of Fire Navy makes no sense, wouldn't few powerful Waterbenders just sink their ships during the night? You'd imagine that no matter how primitive Waterbenders are they would at least control the sea.

>wouldn't few powerful Waterbenders just sink their ships during the night?
those are few and far betewn outside of the north pole
i mean that's kinda what happened during the north pole invasion but took a fair few of them and they needed to be too close for comfort to do it

Bending is gonna get completelly useless once modern firearms are invented in this world, right?

basicly Korra

You can't confiscate bending

Not, it just means non-benders will have a fighting chance.

>This character has different morals from mine, this is bad writing
t. Yea Forums about everything
AtlA has lots of writing issues, this isn't one of them.

That's how it is in fantasy settings. It's the reason for the "Harry Potter should have carried a 1911" copypasta.

>fire gun at earthbender
He makes the bullet fall into the ground and your gun fall apart.
>fire gun at firebender
He intensifies the combustion so the gun just explodes and the bullet doesn't shoot out properly.
>fire gun at airbender
He sucks the air away from the gun so it can't combust.
>fire gun at waterbender
She bloodbends you into killing yourself instead.

You'd be fucked against a bender even with a gun unless you snuck up on them, but in that case just about any weapon would be effective.

>blockade completely cordons off the area, to where nothing can get in or out without the fire nation wanting it so
>which means that no foreign aid of any kind could come through and enemy fighters cannot escape
>which also means that even if they managed to form an actual wartime navy there is no way in hell they could actually stand up to the blockade
The point was to basically bleed anyone they were blockading dry until they had no other option but to surrender, it is what the US did when island hopping in WW2. Take a few strategic areas and completely cut off the rest. Or at least that is what I would imagine their intent would be.
>remotely implying that even a quarter of benders would be able to do any of that to a tiny projectile moving thousands of feet per second
They would have to be a good distance away as well as be a reaction time god to stand a chance against even a pistol bullet, let alone something like 5.56 or god help them real fuckin’ NATO.

powerful waterbenders don't exist all over the world. the fire nation killed/captured most of the waterbenders in the south pole. the average waterbender couldn't do much to a fire nation ship either.

>firebenders put out the flames or make your bullets fire on you
>waterbenders make your powder wet
>earthbenders metalbend the gun

I would watch/read a stealth special ops covert unit of waterbenders going around fucking up the fire nation.

afaik, Bumy was always kinda senile, but his plan ultimately worked
against a fire nation invasion force, they'd probably have massive casualties. when it was just him vs the depowered firebenders, he took them all out

how the eclipse showed up so well in the earth kingdom even though it was supposed to be over the fire nation is beyond me, though

>airbenders just deflect/slow the bullets or take away the air removing the spark needed to fire

I don't think even an avatar-level airbender could do that shit

I agree about the reaction time but given the amount of mass we see them bend the caliber really would not fucking matter until you start getting into like, tank shells.

>gun autismo trying to give opinions like they matter
