Having the diamonds resolve the conflict would have cheapened the story, even if you feel it was such an easy option, Steven was capable of handling himself, I mean one of the themes was that he doesn't need to run to either set of sisters or aunts for help like he would have at the beginning of the story. The Diamonds are still new to helping out, and just straight up dislodging the injector could've made it's load blow prematurely like Peri warned. Plus like 2 hours ago he was trying to make a point that he was fine by himself and didn't need overbearing aunts in his life

Whatever solution the diamonds could've come up with might not have aligned with Steven's way. For starters they'd shatter Spinel on the spot for starting shit, and maybe they'd try to pull/blow up the injector. If that ends up poisoning the earth, then even better, Steven gets to live on Homeworld since the planet is fucked now

Just explain the situation to them, Yellow is practical enough to really work on a solution. The injector only needed to be smashed or perhaps they'd know how to turn it off considering it's not like only Spinel could control it that would be extremely bizarre. I really don't think the Earth would have been threatened for that much longer if they got the Diamonds involved.

Steven isn't going to pass his problems off on to anyone else before finding out what the fuck Spinel's malfunction is. Dragging the Diamonds into the mix would have only resulted in Yellow instantly smiting Spinel with the wrath of an angry god before Steven could address her problems.
Steven didn't want her destroyed, he wanted to know how he could help her. Otherwise, he'd have deleted her with the scythe as soon as she stopped the drill.

If Bismuth knew what the rejuvenator was but not Pearl or Peridot, it is likely a discontinued tool. It obviously doesn't work too well if gems were able to recover their memories under broad circumstances.

Diamonds would have been like, "yeah, that weapon is junk. Give it a few hours & your gems will be back to go."

Okay but this is still retarded. In the larger scheme of the plot threat, the giant poison injector aimed at the core of earth is obviously the more pressing danger than a memory wipe, even if the memory wipe is spooky and scary. Even before Steven knew exactly what the injector was doing, it was pretty obvious that it was going to fuck up Beach City at the least. Instead of trying to assure the safety of at least a few hundred people (or as we later discover, the actual entire population of the earth), he spends all his time trying to fix the psychological state of his four closest friends.

Just as with everything Steven Universe, the moral of this film was the opposite of the story it tried to tell. Steven proved the primacy of in-group preference. He would rather save his friends than save the world. This movie was just one nightmare trolley problem, and it presented the answer that none of us wants to hear.
