You judge things based on how popular they are.

Dan Harmon got MeToo'ed, had a breakdown, and hired Annoying Orange writers because he thought gifting jobs to women would un-harass Megan Ganz.

writers completely missing the point of humor being that Rick bumblefucks his way through the universe despite being the smartest man alive

They're also whamen, but that's honestly less important than they're oblivious morons.

>They're also whamen, but that's honestly less important than they're oblivious morons.
That isn't the same thing?

Rick and Morty fans treat the first two seasons like it's so much better than the third despite some of it just being weak. While season three is even more pathetic and goes in a different direction, it was already headed that way with season two. And there was some immense problems I saw with season one. Anyone who complains about Rick suddenly being a self-punishing nihilistic in season three needs to rewatch the end of season one.

This whole scene was fan-fiction level.

Season 2 was shit too. That finale was absolutely abhorrent

>show consists solely of low-brow parodies of pop-culture tropes
>"kino"

Modern cartoons seem to have a problem with not being content with being fun and simple shows and try to grow themselves with cheap tactics like over adding lore or trying to develop one note characters into ones with a deep back story

Szechuan sauce

Basically.

>Season 1 & 2 are kino
>Season...2
>kino
Half of the episodes were worse than season 3.

The issue I had with Rick wasn't that he's a "self-punishing nihilistic" but that the writers felt the need to flat out explain his whole character and essentially the backdrop of the show. A flat out admission that they didn't trust themselves as being good enough writers to write a character.(and they were right, as Rick's character ironically became far more what they admonishing in the Pickle Rick episode compared to season 1 where he constantly fucks up but JUST smart enough to be fix everything "well enough").

Wasnt Ricklantis Mixup season 3?

SEASON 1.

Don't you fucking retards start just like the bronies and SUfags or I swear to God I'll ban Dick and Morty from Yea Forums

>Season 1 is kino
>Season 2 is great
>Season 3 is mediocre with a a variety of garbage, okay and great episodes
FIFY.
That said with how things are going season 4 will likely be hot garbage.

>Season 3 is garbage
Sorry faggot. Season 3 is just as "good" as the others, considering the entire show us faux-edgy nihilism.

season 3 episode one is god tier.
Prove me wrong.
pro tip: you can’t

Bushworld>the rest

Szechuan Sauce

You're right. That and the Citadel episode save the season from being totally indefensible.
Plenty of good jokes get beaten to death and ruined by autistic fans.

True

In my opinion the biggest problem was the large focus on interpersonal relationships and family drama. I have no desire to see Beth and Jerry fighting or Rick go to family consoling. There weren't enough episodes which were just about fun space-times and aliens. The episodes in season three which were divorced from the over-arching season plot and lacked a strong character focus. Like Ricklantis Mixup and Vindicators 3 were fun and pretty on par with season 2 stuff. It's episodes like ABC's of Beth Rickmancing the Stone withe their drama that bring down the entire season.

bump

Season 1 of Rick and Morty was funny because it was edgy and stupid, and it was well aware of that. But that lardass, Dan Harmon, thought that people loved it because its a true work of genius and they were laughing because its clever or whatever the fuck. As a result, they started shoehorning these dumb fucking melodramatic plots that had no place in this show about wacky space-time adventures. And geeks ate it up because they like to think they're absolute geniuses among the sheeple just for watching it and recognizing the most basic-ass pop culture references.
They could've kept the silly plots going, but no, they had to go all deep and dramatic and shit.

Dan got more alchoholic

Could someone explain why people thought Season 3 of Rick and Morty was bad?

Mix of a change in tone to the series (More focus on Drama less and adventure/episodic stuff)
Plus new writers that people hate for a variety off reasons.
